BRZ next to 240Z
6 Attachment(s)
Just wanted to share some pics of my BRZ next to someone's tastefully modified Z (looks like a 240, but I don't really know much about these cars). Just so happen to pull up next to it at my work's complex. I love how both have the classic sports car proportions but have their own distinct styles.

Very nice! That 240Z is a nice color! (yes, it's an early 240Z; you can tell by the taillights and the vertical window defroster lines) Wonder where his bumpers are... 240Z's have nice skinny bumpers, the 260/280Z got those ugly 5mph diving board bumpers.

Very nice. Someone at your work place has good taste. Now to track down that person.

still plan to own and have a 240z project one day

I am a early Z car owner, and I love the FR-S/BRZ because I believe that the two cars share the same roots. I almost feel like this is what the new Z should have been (370Z, ugh), only with a 6 cyl. If I were to replace one of my cars, not the Z car, the FR-S/BRZ will definitely be in the running.

Very nice pictures, thanks for sharing.
I'm more of a Supra guy, as I have grown up with an MKII (my mother used to have one when I was a kid) so I was always more attached to the Supras (I've got my 4th MKII by now) than to the Z's. However, I love the looks and the spirit of the old 240/260Z. Also one of the reasons I've bought a 350z 5 years ago,but I just feel that from the ZX area onwards the spirit of the "old Z" got lost. During the first test drive with the GT86 I had the same feeling like in my Supra, hard to explain in facts, however it just feelt right, like you could feel the spirit of an "honest" sports car. Not one that blends you with power and exotic crap, but one that is pure fun, and especially one you will not care if there will be a newer "better" model out next year, as you will love your's for the sake of its just what you need, and anything else is just bling you dont need nor want Sorry, got a bit off topic there :-) |
Old with the New. Very cool pics

Cali doesn't require front plates?

The article of the FR-S driven alongside a 240Z was exactly as I imagined it would be. I haven't driven my 240Z since 2008 sadly, but I recall it being a very visceral experience, exhaust fumes in the cabin, very solid-feeling drivetrain (due in part to the solid diff bushings and the u-joint axles) and the out-of-this-world snarl of the triple Weber DCOE carbs (stock carbs sound nice, too, but the '73 had crappy emissions-restricted carbs, hence the Weber retrofit). The hood felt like it was a mile long, and it felt extremely light. Getting the car sideways was a real treat! However even a fully restored car could not come close to the refinement of the FR-S. Not that everyone would want it to, but for my purposes, I want a car like the Z that I can drive every day, and the FR-S/BRZ is exactly what the doctor ordered! Now I just need to get mine running on the stock engine, sell off my L28ET swap parts, sell the car, and have a decent down payment for a BRZ! |

I am a 25 year Datsun S-30 Z enthusiast. My second car ever in 1989 was a beat up 240Z with 3 different paint colors.
http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...heRock240Z.jpg I now own a full race hot-rod 1973 240Z track car. http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...t/Sunangle.jpg My current daily driver is a 1997 E36 M3/4/5 http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...97/M3drift.jpg I put money down on a BRZ Limited a month ago, and I cannot wait for my new sports car and occasional track toy. Subyota/Toyobaru has really hit the mark for guys with my taste in sports cars. I drove the BMW M3 to the dealer the day I arranged a test drive. When I pulled up the exhaust was pinging from my spirited drive to the dealer. The sales person standing outside knew exactly what I was there to test out. |
