I see the fender badge says STI....that would be cool to get a hold of. Anyone have any info?

Turbowned 09-14-2012 09:26 AM

They don't make it.... yet. We need that and a carbon fiber mustache for our road cars!

Maybe one of the 3D printer guys can knock one out.

Superhatch 09-14-2012 11:42 AM

Awesome! Thanks!!

I guess you never think of race cars running such a high sidewall, but then every open wheel car does it.

enjoi23 09-14-2012 01:17 PM

Where is the BRZ? All i see is A FUCKING BEAST!!

ayau 09-14-2012 01:37 PM

brb, changing pants.

slaxx 09-14-2012 01:41 PM

How can we watch GT300 races online from the US?

QuikJ 09-14-2012 02:58 PM

I speak to one of the drivers, Tetsuya Yamano, from time to time. He's doing pretty well in Super GT but couldn't finish the suzuka 1000km recently. You guys can check out SubaruOnTube's channel for some highlights from the races. http://www.youtube.com/user/SUBARUOnTube

Turbowned 09-14-2012 03:29 PM

*goes to search for GT300 BRZ posters to put on his office wall*

Dammit! Someone make a poster already!

ngabdala 09-14-2012 10:35 PM

Looks like a nice DD

switchlanez 09-16-2012 11:47 AM

They recently placed 6th at Fuji (their highest in this race season) using ballsy Ayrton Senna-like tactics. The battle commences at 7:00 with an epic dogfight shortly thereafter:

Also some specs I scanned from one of my JDM magazines:

Awesome car.

Does anyone else seeing this pic think of some kind of blue Pokemon character? :)

love the battle w/ bmw :). Proud of BOXER !

xwd 09-16-2012 07:56 PM

Interesting the car has a Bilstein sticker on it and previous versions I saw pictures of used the Bilstein MDS shocks but at least in this instance they are using Sachs shocks.

Captain Insano 09-16-2012 08:09 PM

Wow, that's badass!!

no_name 09-17-2012 12:58 PM

I'd like to know how much of that car is still BRZ. From the looks, it's only be the bare chassis, maybe the engine block & engine mounting locations. I'd be more interested in watching a stripped out & caged BRZ with a tuned/unrestricted/remapped stock engine on coilovers and race brakes like they ran at the Nurbugring before release.

EvoFanatic 09-17-2012 01:25 PM

Did that video say a prius was winning the race? O lord what has this world come to!!!!!

yeah well...If they modified it like they did with the brz..no wonder

Silverdub 09-17-2012 04:00 PM

crazy FAB skillz!!!!!!!!!!

bacon_cheese_beer 09-17-2012 04:04 PM

man... i bet that body kit will sit hella flush with my stock wheels, just need coilovers.

ML 09-17-2012 04:30 PM

It only puts out about 300HP. Its made for torque and g's not top speed.

jix87 09-17-2012 05:18 PM

Some guesses at specs gleaned from the pics and JDM article:

296hp @6000rpm
331ftlbs @4000rpm
Weight: 2535lbs
Brakes: AP Racing 6 piston front, 4 piston rear
Wheels: 18x11.5 front, 18x13 rear
Spring rates look to be 700lbs front, 900lbs rear

Beyer Subaru 09-17-2012 05:26 PM

The only thing that is required in JGTC 300 and 500 classes is that from a side silhouette it must resemble the original car and be close to 300/500hp not to exceed.

This is basically the exact same car as the Legacy and STi that were run previously for Subaru in the GT300 class.

This car is more "correct" in the fact it started life as RWD. The others of course are AWD and were converted to RWD for JGTC.

xwd 09-17-2012 07:05 PM

The old cars used to be AWD, but a way different setup than a standard Subaru.

TouchMyHonda 09-17-2012 07:29 PM

Beast, makes me thing of the jccs accord for some reason.

Beyer Subaru 09-17-2012 08:02 PM

Yep, some of the cars pre-08 like the Cusco version. But even then the RWD cars dominated.

All of them have been AWD, including the Legacy they ran last year. This was how the drivetrain was laid out:

http://www.subaru-msm.com/global/sgt...gs/09015_2.jpg

It used an external front diff powered by a separate propshaft. The cars were always heavier due to the AWD and I don't know if it was really an advantage.

fistpoint 09-17-2012 09:54 PM

Pic 5: afro-engineered air conditioning or noise generators?

Gums 09-17-2012 10:25 PM

Also on pic 5, buttons on the steering wheel!

Beyer Subaru 09-18-2012 10:32 AM

Thanks bro. I had no idea. I thought all of the scoobs in GT were RWD at this point.

Shows how much I keep up with it.

ST185RC 09-18-2012 07:15 PM

I don't care how much i get flamed on the streets or on forums for ricing out the car with no engine mods or anything, I want my FRS to look like the GT300 BRZ minus the stickers.

RacelineUSA_Matt 09-18-2012 07:20 PM

This thing is absolutely staggering...

That would be an awfully loud noise generator... My guess is it is some kind of fresh air system.

Even weirder to me in that picture is there is a LCD screen in the middle and then a second digital dash on the left hand side of the car. Along with what looks like a mechanical watch near the LCD?

AJUSA.com 09-18-2012 07:39 PM

A lot of endurance racing sanctioning bodies mandate AC in the cars as a safety measure. ALMS does as well as WEC

scorcherjf 09-19-2012 11:42 AM

Yea those GT300 cars are pretty far from the original car they're "based" upon. Look at the GT300 CR-Z... starts out as a strut/torsion beam FWD hybrid and ends up as a monster double-wishbone all around RWD hybrid lol.

The GT300 BRZ doesn't even seem to use the BRZ's chassis as the suspension is completely different with pushrod double wishbones all around. I'd say the engine and the "shape" are the only things that resemble the original BRZ...

Jeff86 09-19-2012 01:14 PM

beautiful machine!

Speedbumps.
Ramps into parking lots.

Toronto's lovely textured pavement (if you're from T.O).

Snow.
