You have got to be joking!

Some car dealer is trying to sell a GTS auto on CarSales w/ 500km for $59,990.

Not to mention, they say in the blurb "beat the 5 year wait."

:burnrubber:

ZZT86 09-11-2012 06:16 AM

Just saw that - why in the F*$@! would anyone bother? Seriously ? I would definitely prefer an Evo or an STI for that amount of coin - and new ! Struth !

It's getting a bit ridiculous I tell you & TMCA are to blame for it !

Looking forward to their call....

Raz555 09-11-2012 06:42 AM

I called the number - got put through to DVG Canningvale. There is a Prosser Toyota which is owned by DVG in Canningvale. Someone needs to confirm that car is at the dealership and if that price is for real.

That's $15k over rrp (it's an auto with aero)

I bet it has that super $15k paint protection package on it! :sigh:

Raz555 09-11-2012 06:43 AM

You bet me FT-86GOD :-)

Nah mate u won because I ain't called yet.. Figured they would be shut by now so will call to confirm they really expect that price tomorrow then post their comments...

I figure once I tell them I am about to post a shame thread on every 86 forum I know about their way of making money on a shitty situation and that I can only hope they will be expecting others call telling them what they think of the way they do business it may atleast have them rethink what they r doing...

Probably not. It's a good think they're advertising it though as it shows what their manager is really like..

I accept and have no disapproval on people buying the 86, deciding they don't want it and reselling at price to reclaim their losses but for a dealership to mark up $15,000 odd AND AS A DEMO is straight out filth IMO...

ZZT86 09-11-2012 07:08 AM

"With 28 dealerships across metropolitan Perth" - I wonder how they do it ?

Raz555 09-11-2012 07:11 AM

Plus they list it as brand new and then go on to say it's done 450km's.

Can only hope that no one on the Prossor Toyota waiting list wanted a GTS auto aero, mind you I wouldn't by a demo anyway.

No issue with people making a few extra dollars, that is just life, but $15k mark up by a dealer when there are such supply issues, is just asking for people to avoid your dealership.

Captain Snooze 09-11-2012 07:37 AM

As I have said before there is no seller if there is no buyer. There are only two possible out comes at this price: some one will buy it or they won't. I really don't understand the problem.

st162celica 09-11-2012 08:09 AM

Bargin

primetime 09-11-2012 08:09 AM

I do seem to remember a member on this forum or over on the other forum (gt86) who has ordered from that same dealer ... I wonder how he got on ... and if he is in the same boat as the rest of us, if he finds out he's gonna be real p**ed!!!

BRAWL 09-11-2012 08:17 AM

The dealers are not allowed to do this. Report them to TMCA to have their arse dragged over the coals!

EDIT: I am getting my GTS manual from Prosser and have received pretty good service thus far. This behaviour is poor, but as Captain Snooze says, it is only a rip off if someone buys it

STman 09-11-2012 08:32 AM

Just out of interest what would you guys deem to be a reasonable price?

Planning to sell my GTS manual in white soon cos of a broken condom....

grk 09-11-2012 08:49 AM

What a joke, you kids need to grow up. Calling and having a sook? What are you, 13?

Jesus christ, I'm embarrassed for you.

I'd say the strong reaction is from people who are waiting for their own cars and have seen the delivery due date get pushed back later and later.

I'd understand if it was a private seller, fair game but its a bit rough for a dealership to do it when they undoubtably have people in line waiting for the same car.

Then advertising the 5 year wait is just rubbing it in to people that have orders with them.

I have a manual GTS on order from Prosser but at this stage if they offered me an auto I would seriously consider it, as I'm sure others would.

Raz555 09-11-2012 09:36 AM

Only called to find out which dealership it was. Didn't even ask to speak to anyone, so no "sooking" at all :-)

All I'm saying is that dealers should be trying to clear the backlog of orders first (and alot of dealers are doing this). WA is only getting 4 GTS's a month at present, so we are all looking at long waits and the more GTS orders that get filled the quicker we all move up the queue.

Yes, what you say is valid, however what we're saying is that it's a rip-off price to begin with. Its "new" RRP is more like $45K which means this particular example is overpriced by a mere $15K. Furthermore, which insurance company is going to insure it for $15K over market value anyhow? It may not even qualify for an agreed value policy !

OK good luck to them if they sell it, although I doubt anyone in their right mind would buy it @ that price, unless of course they are loaded & desperate for it !

MarkMash 09-11-2012 10:33 AM

I peronsally do not care.

if I had to sell my car, I'd be getting as much possible for it - I'd probably list it for $80k

care not do I

45k easy!

primetime 09-11-2012 12:00 PM

Looks like that listing has been pulled but another one has come up at a much more reasonable price: $45k for GTS like Bounce says:

http://www.drive.com.au/used-cars/to...3#tab-features

and it's only done 32kms! (basically as new stock)

Havin' a whinge, are ya? Harden the fuck up!

Sorry, just watched "Chopper" recently

Are they that rare in Aus that they hafta charge $15k over sticker? I thought the $5k FR-S markups were bad here!

We get 1500 a year here. Only 300 Brz's a year

Gt - 6 month wait
Gts - 2 + year wait
Brz - 18 month wait

Not exact but you get the point.

That one there is at my dealer. Its not for sale and its the right price for kit and Auto + plates. They are just trying to make people see it then phone about it and sign them up on the waiting list. Ready some one on this forum from that dealer has that spec on order so I would say he would be 1st in line when they want to sell it in 6mths+ time. Also alot of other ones that dealers are putting online for the normal price arn't for sale its just to drum up biz.

Wouldn't this be totally misleading then, people off the street or other potential 86 buyers would be walking saying OK I wanna buy the car, only to be told - oh wait, the listing's just a carrot for you to walk in and sign up for one.

And if that buyer already knows about the 86 supply debacle they'll be even more pissed being jerked around and knowing that there is no chance at the moment of getting a firm production/delivery date if they sign up for an 86 order.

Do these Toyota dealers even have a clue as to what's happening out there? Or they simply sell cars like whitegoods?

Calais 09-11-2012 10:19 PM

well thats what their whole product line has been for how many years now?

pretty sure that there are laws against that. from what you just wrote there, that is false advertising
that one, is advertised for ~46K and it is registered (it has plates) which are included in the sale (as stated in the ad)
pretty sure that if i lived in WA, and walked in to that shop, and found out that car was not for sale but only there to bring ppl in, i would be taking it to the authority on this (eg ACCC for false and misleading conduct)

It is a sure case of false and misleading advertising and can be reported to Department of Fair Trading here - cos' it clearly says Toyota 86 GTS ZN6 FOR SALE.

I guess now the dealers here have sunk to new lows .... why do this when you know there is zero to no chance that TMCA can fulfill existing orders expediently?

FT-86GOD 09-11-2012 11:59 PM

Just called them.... Was sold last night at 5;30pm for $62,990.........

Good for u d!ckhead..... :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

FT-86GOD 09-12-2012 12:18 AM

I can only guess that many dealerships will be making the most of this and telling customers that have already paid or put down payment on their ordered car that they are still being pushed back while actually selling their vehicle to the highest bidder..

I hope this is not true but im sure some will do this......

fuddbutter 09-12-2012 12:25 AM

may keep my re-sale up..

and i really have no care how much they sell them for, i got my BRZ at the internet fixed price. and if others are stupid enough to spend that much, thats their problem.

primetime 09-12-2012 12:27 AM

WOW, speechless $62,990 if it's true then I don't know what to say to whoever bought it - that price is EVO X, 370Z pre-owned territory ...

Satu23 09-12-2012 12:33 AM

Sighs i guess its people that have money to burn and that can't wait and order like everyone else is allowing dealers to mark up their prices by that much... $15-20k mark up is just plain ridiculous. And yes it would entice dealers to just not deliver cars for customers who have already ordered and then just advertise it to make more $$$
