If you check out my car journal. I have the Perrin header back and I'm compleatly happy with it. I've got a couple of sound clips as well.

Perrin all the way

My favorite exhausts are the MXP and Milltek, i actually happen to be selling my personal MXP because i'm doing some proto-typing.

It has a very deep tone, the bass can't be reproduced by computer speakers.

Check this thread. I just updated it with scans of the full Dsport exhaust shootout article.

There are lots of great exhausts out there, just depends on what you think sounds the best in your mind. I would take a look at some videos on youtube, or go to a local meet and see if you can hear some in person as well... Here's one of my favorites:

Perrin's definitely a great choice, but they're currently backlogged due to the popularity. I ordered my catback during Black Friday and I'm told it won't be shipped until at least the end of December.

The Perrin is replacing my GReddy Evo 3 which has a fantastic sounding throaty tone, but unless you keep the silencers in (which makes it pretty weak sounding in comparison), you'll end up with a resonant drone at 3-4K RPM. Some people don't mind it, but it makes me nauseous at highway speeds. I put the silencers back in while I wait for my Perrin replacement.

Did you order matte black? I ordered a matte black one at the same time but I know they're waiting on the powdercoater they use to ship them more. I can't wait to get mine!! I installed Overpipe and catted front pipe today along with their shifter bushing and trans mount and pulley. They all work extremely well for each of their intended purposes. I also got notification from Mat at billetproshop that they had the issue with the rattle completely solved on the last two vehicles that had an issue. I'm stoked to install that next...

More excited about the Perrin Catback and intake I'm waiting on!! The quality of their parts is amazing!!

no such thing as a best exhaust. my best isn't your best or the next guy's. Get what you like as far as sound, looks and price point. If you like one exhaust and can' afford it just yet, save up and don't settle for something just because you can afford it now.

Did you order the resonated or unresonated perrin catback?

Unresonated. I'm ok with volume, just don't like resonant drone at highway speed.

I am quite happy with my MXP and Motiv Test pipe combo. Awesome tone with no rasp or drone.

Sorry to revive an old thread but I am time constrained. I used to have the TRD exhaust before I got rear ended. I want something louder and least amount of rasp as possible. I was this close to buy the ARK DT-S but after more research I see reviews saying how quite it actually is.

Any help is appreciated.

Best Exhaust Need Help

I'm surprised how many people have the MXP catback on this thread. I just bought mine used and installed it over the weekend. Let me share my experience with the MXP with stock everything else. First, it sounds GREAT! Definitely throaty, low, & mean sounding - not too loud, just loud enough. Next, you can tell by the quality of the welds that this a high quality product. It is a bit on the heavier side (2 lbs over stock). The tips are big but they fit nicely in the rear diffuser/bumper thing, but I have to caution it comes with somewhat ricey burnt tips. I'm actually thinking maybe removing them and powder-coating them black. It actually doesn't look too bad and you can easily adjust how far back/forward you want to move them. Install was a breeze. Comes in three pieces and reuses factory bolts and hangers (no gaskets necessary). Can't say much about performance as I wasn't really expecting any real gains. If you just want the looks, just get tips for the stock exhaust since it is actually a pretty good exhaust. If you want looks and sound, then you'd probably want a catback like the MXP.

buy my MXP!

Gani21 12-20-2013 02:38 PM

Here's my Top Speed Auto exhaust. It's around 450$ on ebay.
Fitment is perfect.
