Anyone know what this black rectangle is?

I have no idea what this think on my windshield is. It is hard and not easily pulled up on the corner. Before I go and pull it off I want to find out what it is.

diirk 09-07-2012 10:35 AM

Sun visor?

travace 09-07-2012 10:36 AM

hard to say from that pic ... the monolith from space Odyssey ?
http://dndfluff.devhub.com/img/upload/monolith.jpg :P

jadewbj 09-07-2012 10:50 AM

No much else to take a pic of. It is a hard plastic rectangle that is stuck on the inside of the windshield in the corner by the drivers side.

If nobody else has one it must be something that the dealer stuck on.

That's your ECU lubrication fluid solenoid. It works in tandem with your blinker fluid delivery system to provide much needed cooling and lubrication to the ECU and passenger floor mat.

I wouldn't remove it if I were you...

It could be some type of dealer installed RFID tag for inventory purposes which the government is using to track you. Have you been downloading porn? They know!!!

Chewie4299 09-07-2012 10:53 AM

Might serve dual purpose as the aforementioned monolith too....

I figured it was some kind of dealer inventory thing, or for making the black helicopters be able to track me.

Actually I believe it's also the solenoid that needs to be replaced when Martians attack and hit us with a massive ECM burst so so that the car will run again and you can escape.

I'd look into getting a second one and carrying it in your glove box along with a hydrospanner to remove the old one.

sounds like one of those things they put inside of products so that the alarm goes off if you leave the store.

be careful not to drive through a grocery store door.

FRSowner 09-07-2012 11:33 AM

Maybe it's just a piece of tape the dealership put there to cover up a small crack in the windshield.

raul 09-07-2012 11:58 AM

I have one of those too. Probably an inventory tag.

Synack 09-07-2012 01:20 PM

Remove it

MVJ1975 09-07-2012 01:38 PM

Lucas Electrics part, usually only comes on the UK-spec GT-86s. Who knows how you got one.

I believe it controls the self-dimming headlamps, but I could be (and probably am) wrong.

^^^^ That is exactly what it is. You can go ahead and remove it.

jadewbj 09-07-2012 02:05 PM

I took it off and the car all the sudden took off and started flying.

Be careful...I think it might be a flux capacitor!

Turbowned 09-07-2012 02:25 PM

If it is what I think it is, then you can just hold it sideways by your mouth. You should be able to then play the green ranger note that he uses to summon the dragon zord. That'll make your car comeback to you and it will transform when ever you need it to save Angel Grove.
I'm so jealous! Mine just came with a first aid kit :/

Who knew this would become the most fun thread ever.

That displays a floating hud in front of your face.

Cheddar 09-07-2012 02:52 PM

I also have one.

Seems like its 3 of us from florida.....hmmmmm weird...

Hawaiian 09-07-2012 02:55 PM

It's a mouth grip. When you're taking a high G turn, reach your face up and bite down on it.

n2oinferno 09-07-2012 02:55 PM

I have a question.

Does removing this sticker void the warranty on the car? Are there any aftermarket stickers that the dealer can't detect?

ashtray 09-07-2012 03:07 PM

ISP Bandwidth Demand Multiplier.

Basically, a random object stuck to a consumer product that will have people rushing online to Google and post on forums to find out what it is. Used by Internet companies when they need justification for raising rates on bandwidth usage.

gily25 09-07-2012 03:31 PM

Is your car presently on house arrest?!

Tujin 09-07-2012 03:37 PM

That is actually the FR-S curse nullifier. Once you take that off, your car is cursed, and will be wrecked/scratched/dented/dinged etc. Best to keep it on.

It is a mind control device to help curb people from Florida and their desire to eat peoples faces.

wrxgoose 09-07-2012 11:48 PM

you know how books and comics, and other things have sensors in them that set off alarms? well that's for just incase you decide to go shopping, it'll set off the door alarms when you drive through the sensor

ahausheer 09-08-2012 12:24 AM

Now that that is solved, can anyone help me with this black rectangle that keeps ringing in my pocket? I think its a tracking device of some sort. I also love sentences where I can use the word ''that'' twice in a row. That is all, carry on.

MattF 09-08-2012 12:35 AM

that looks like a rfid chip. large companies use them to track shipments throughout there supply chain.they use they in the factory as well.if you pull it off and cut it open you will see a piece of metal in it. I had they same thing on my car when I got it.

Exactly. In the OPs case it is installed at the port in JAX as it goes through port processing. On other Toyotas, it tells them what kind of nav, leather etc to install.

YukiHachiRoku 09-08-2012 01:29 AM

lol...

Doc 09-08-2012 01:29 AM

LOL --- I called the dealership regarding this today (delivery 2 days ago). It is an electromagnetic identification strip used by the port where the vehicle comes off the boat.
It is actually supposed to be removed at the port, but clearly several were not.

Yeti 09-08-2012 02:31 AM

The palm tree in the background has eyes and a mouth and is freaking me out. I think the tree is trying to read the electromagnetic ID strip.

Synack 09-08-2012 02:47 AM

Careful not to use it. Apple patented a rectangle with rounded corners. They'll sue anybody with anything that is rectangular with rounded edges. Those fucking bastards. Fuck Apple :)
