New Style Double Din Dash Kit

I've been able to source a new style dash kit specifically made for the FRS/BRZ that instead of utilizing the Metra two piece dash kit that bolts to the iso mounts that look kinda.....eh. This new dash kit actually snaps into the radio surround and allows for a much cleaner look as it fills in the gap on the top and bottom. I'll try it out with various popular double dins (pioneer, kenwood, etc) and take as many pictures as possible to show you guys what it looks like. We're getting a few coming in so when they do I'll do a full pre-sale post. Pricing will be around 30$ for it.

I would be down to order this right now. I have a Rydeen DV621 on it's way to me right now (coming in next tuesday). How soon are these going to be available?? Do you need any testers? :-D

encity5 09-05-2012 01:52 PM

looks like an awesome replacement for my metra dask kit. I'm in to order one when they get released!

Dezoris 09-05-2012 01:56 PM

Count me as interested

phanguy 09-05-2012 01:56 PM

IN FOR ONE.

I have a Pioneer AVIC-X940BT.

TRD_86 09-05-2012 02:48 PM

Can you ask the vendor to produce some real fiber carbon look to match the stock dash board ?
HU: 8" alpine 928HD is waiting :)

PrimeMotoring 09-05-2012 02:52 PM

Not sure if carbon will be in the works, there will be one with rubberized coating to have a better oem look to it.

I am also interested pending fitment photos. How securely does it snap into place?

Nitro 09-05-2012 03:41 PM

I'm interested in this as long as it sits flush with the factory dash piece and doesn't rattle.

kmbkk 09-05-2012 05:10 PM

I'm in if it looks good. BTW, I have a JVC KW-AVX740 head unit.

How much do the side pieces cost from the dealer?

I could be wrong, but that just looks like the same style as the 2 piece metra dash kit, painted silver to match the rest of the trim.
Which cost $10 (on amazon), not counting the paint

Wasnt saying it wasn't was just saying its the same style.

Although if it was really OEM, they should make an option of the dash trim thats a standard Double din size, not add gap fillers that try to match, but clearly are gap fillers.

Thats what I would pay for, anything that just fills gaps looks cheap imo

CoRi J 09-07-2012 03:09 AM

:word: I'm down for one!

Zxtole 09-07-2012 03:37 AM

I would be very interested in one as well.

Roborat 09-07-2012 12:57 PM

F1point4 09-09-2012 02:07 AM

I'm in

mikeg7827 09-09-2012 09:09 PM

this is a great option vs the metra kit... companies need to keep doing this.. creating more options :) for our revolutionary car(s)!

brzninja 09-10-2012 12:25 AM

Why not just get an android head unit?

Too much money. Those are like $599.99 and can only run 2.2 or 2.3 and I already had everything I need to do my tablet project.

Ah, ok. I can't wait for them to come down in price. If they can make a 7 inch tablet with a tegra 3 for 200$, then they should be able to make a 6.1" double din for 250$.

Either way, I'm working on making a multimedia interface for use in a car.

Yeah, I'm really surprised that the android head unit market hasn't been exploited that much......yet.

I'm hoping it takes off now that legit head units are coming out. It's only 600$ because no one else really has released one.

ngabdala 09-10-2012 10:56 AM

I just looked up that HU. Looks very nice. Expensive but nice.

Can you input NAV destination by voice or does it have to be typed in?

There is a clip on utube with the guy test the voice command.
That 8" Nav by Alpine is top notch.

You can see in the pic theres a vw iso harness coming off the back. These kits will be available with full plug and play harnesses so you will have no need for any splicing whatsoever. I'm working on this with Enfig Car stereo they will have a youtube video up soon with my car on install and more details with the plug and play harness.

kmbkk 09-18-2012 12:17 AM

Not too bad!

Lee358 09-18-2012 01:21 AM

thanks prime! looks like a great product!
