Pushed Back Again .... the September Edition.
Got the word today, June Order's pushed back again.
I ordered 6th of June, 2 or so weeks I was told probably November Production ..... As of today, maybe now December, more likely January production. I made a call to a guy I know at another Toyota Dealer and he told me he got an e-mail Monday that 2 guys he has placed orders for in May have been bumped from October production to November, maybe December. |
ouch! that sucks man... suck how we're not the up there with the big countries for high demand. we're like some where in the middle, so we're not high priority to Fuji Heavy industries. =(
|
I'll probably be in the same boat having ordered a manual GTS on the 7th of June. On the brightside, at least it would be a 2013 build if it does get pushed to January, which is much better than a Nov/Dec build 2012 car first registered in 2013 when it comes time to sell.
|
My June order would most likely be in the same boat. My car's rego expires in Jan. Just found a GTS auto available next month. I wanted manual and not the color I was after but I'm taking it anyway.
|
How many 86's did TMCA say they were going to deliver in 2012?
|
Sorry to hear dude @H8R GTS..... Same happened to me today http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16528

The dealer I was talking to told me he has been allocated 2 a month, all he has seen from July to December allocation is 2 Auto GT's .... We are just getting the bottom of the barrel from production !!   |
same for me today too...

I am very close to starting "The official I have cancelled my 86 order" thread !! |
Noooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm in this group too.
Everyone at my work is gonna think I'm lying about getting a new car haha It's like, the distance between getting the car and ordering it has never changed, it is forever prolonged again and again... It's neither getting closer nor further away... Unbelievable |
Same boat. Starting to wished I had double dipped and placed an order in the BRZ lottery as well.
|
Add me to the list of people who ordered GTS MTs on 6th of June. I called last week and he said November build, December delivery but that it was not yet confirmed and would likely be pushed back. oh well, what can you do?
|
I don't understand y your cars are being pushed back is it because it's the gts . I ordered my gt 3weeks ago and at first the dealer told me December a few days after I placed my order they rang me to tell me that my car was actually going to come late October
I ordered a white mt gt |
I almost have a feeling Toyota is playing some games as they are worried about the possibility of Aus Dollar falling, which would severely affect TMCA profits for the 86.
|
Tmca leaked reports early in the year implied there will 1500 cars for Aus 2012
A split of 50% each Gt and Gts and further 50 50 split of auto vs manual The most sought after cars in order - Gts manual - Gts auto - Gt manual - gt auto |
For any order that is not yet confirmed for production, it means the TMCA system does not have accurate information about when it will be built. Where the information is 'lost' ... I would like to know and ask for it to be corrected, so I can plan how I will be getting around.
|
i wonder if mine has been [pushed back again.
|
i ordered around the same time as well. i got told by my dealer november build but will be really devastated if it were pushed back any later. im just hoping we get ours before christmas or well definitely be for a wait when the factory slows for end of year.
GTS Manual. |
It all depends on spec and colour.
I've been told I'm number one on the list at my Dealer for a White GTS Manual - the most popular colour, spec and transmission. That sounds like great news, but I'm also number 40 nation wide for the same car. They're bringing 7 of this particular car in each month, so despite being number one on the list at my dealer, I've gotta wait 6 months before my dealer gets that car... *groan* What's making it so much worse is that I sold my bike when I got a good offer thinking I could bus it til October... Now it's EASTER before I'm back on the road... |
Found out today my "draft" build month is now December, but I won't k ow for certain u til the 1st week of Dec if it does get a build slot. So no car for x-mas for me :-( I kinda now hoping it gets pushed back to Jan so I have a 2013 build date......
|
like some other members on this forum, i have also been assigned the TBC status after a phone call to TMCA. Only about two weeks ago I was told Nov build/ Dec delivery. Sure you've heard it all before, but like everyone else when I ordered was told it'd be sep/oct, then got pushed to nov/dec, now unknown, lol. Ordered GTS Manual June 16 (Sydney). I'm also supposedly first at my dealer with the guy before me taking delivery of his GTS a week or two ago. This is Terry Shields Parramatta.
over 4 month difference for orders that are right next to each other? Find that hard to accept actually. Sure enough TMCA are aware demand is high and supply is scarce in terms of production, but is TMCA even aware of the injustice Australian customers are being dealt in terms of allocation COMPARATIVELY to rest of the world? Read some posts about UK getting excess of cars for example. TMCA need to read these forums and really understand what their customers are actually thinking, maybe then it might spur them to take more aggressive action to resolve the matter. |

When did you order and which dealer ? Thanks |
I ordered a red GTS auto on 21 June. Since then I've not had any status updates from my dealer. After an month when I asked for a login to the status tracking website I was told they had no idea what that was, and "oh by the way, your order was bumped from Sep/Oct to Oct/Nov delivery.
Since then I've had no word from them. They haven't told me about the spare wheel delete. My first Toyota purchase in 20 years of car purchasing is not what I call customer focused. Well done Toyota Chatswood, In the last few weeks I've told 2 family members to avoid Toyota and go to Mazda. They are now driving their new Mazda3's while I wait, watching grass grow in the desert. Probably (mostly) the dealers lack of customer service, but you would think TMCA would do something sensible.... Like prioritise build to order, rather than some weird random algorithm that was probably spat out by a computer built in the 60's? Roll on October when I ask about my order again. Not really worried, because I've still got the MX5 and will be keeping it, but was more concerned about the month it will be registered in. Worst month for rego is Dec or Jan when you are flat broke from paying off taxes, presents and parties. |
I was told by my dealer on the phone the other day that out of 250 cars coming in each month, 40% are GTS and only 40% of that 40% are manuals. I find that difficult to believe but we do have to remember how small of a market we are.

Then again, this could be because its coming from a Subaru factory. |
It's a bit upsetting when I have friends coming back from Europe telling me you can pretty much walk into a Toyota dealership and get any spec GT86 you want within a week or so. Im very surprised Toyota has done nothing about trying to fix the manual GTS supply problem here in Australia.
|
Again, with Europe (moreso UK) the demand is much lower, but they'd still be selling more cars than here, ever.
|
i dont understand how they can fail at this. popular sports car, starting price so low, good reviews around the world prior to coming to aus, long awaited toyota sports car since supra and mr2 etc, RWD. and the wait list is up to 2 years now for manual GTS? thats just silly. surely TMCA could've understood that manual would be the highly sought after model.
in addition, they could've released what's included in the base and top specs well before launch date so then people can make decisions on which grade to buy. i for one would've gotten top spec (regardless of price) with my original preorder (base model) SINCE FEBRUARY had i known the base model came without digital speedo and crappy centre console. but those details weren't released til june ish which was the deal breaker for me and then i reordered late june, get told sept build/oct delivery to which got pushed out to oct build, now nov build and possibly could even be dec or jan or feb or march or may or june or frigggin december 2013 BUILD. SO ANNOYED |

Also, Ravine on this forum got his GTS auto from Terry Shields like within the week from release and on the same week I know of another white GTS (can't remember if it was auto or manual) being delivered to another customer. So the first GTS at Terry Shields was not delivered last week. Personally, I've just accepted that I won't be getting the car any time soon. And as I originally had planned I wanted to get a 2013 build date anyway, and it seems that this might just occur. |
My only concern really is that my current car will need a fair whack of maintenance work including brakes, fluid leaks to fix, tyres etc... Which will just set me back a bit of coin. At least I have a juicy bonus and tax return to ease the pain ;)
I am also occasionally popping into my dealer to see if I can scam any free stuff :D |

This is it, I had walk in my dealer today n canceled my order. No more waiting game for me, without the 86 I still can live... The customer service was sucks ever since I put my money down 3 months ago... Not to mention the sour taste in the mouth for the deletion of full size spare...
|
I hope more people bail like you did.

EVERYONE CANCEL!!!!
I want mine faster... |
A lot of people are going to bail. I would. Lucky I ordered in march.
I was going to wait til the price came out, but decided not to as I sensed something like this might happen. Well I didn't think it would be this bad. Still f*cken pissed off that ordering back in march wouldn't get me a car at launch date but rather 3 months later. What f*cken bullshit is that. Toyota did it on purpose to free up stock for people to walk in and buy. Only enthusiasts will stick out the wait. So fuck them over Toyota why don't you. Ooops you already have. |
I'm with you mate, March order as well

Good on you also Toyota for souring the experience of many who would have been a first time customer! A first time customer of the 86 would probably have gone on to buy other Toyotas over the years and would result in many referrals had they received a positive experience - instead .... it looks like TMCA couldn't really give a toss - and frankly a 4.5 years wait is a JOKE. |
