oh man do want! but you gotta buy your own paint though huh?

zygrene 09-04-2012 01:24 AM

I'm not gonna lie, that looks super super fun. I think I might get one to make up for not having the actual car... :(

yup. they're about $2.50 per bottle and you need about 10 of them.

steeloyangster 09-04-2012 01:33 AM

Where'd you get this? The Hobby Lobby? How much?

What else do you need to build the model? Does the kit include tools?

the kit doesn't come with any tools. you'll need some tweezers, cutting pliers, tamiya cement, tamiya paint, toothpicks, and various paint brush sizes. i may have forgotten one or two more supplies but those should be the important ones.

zygrene 09-04-2012 01:56 AM

Cool. The Tamiya car models aren't too expensive but the cost of paint and tools seem significant.

That R34 is pretty cheap.

I wish the car's ride height and wheel offset were right about there from the factory. :P

Nice, I'm thinking about one of these, too! I have all the paint and brushes, etc. from my model car-building days (before I had my license). I had a model Jaguar XJ220 painted a similar color (too bad I don't still have the paint!):

I know exactly what you mean. I actually ordered the WRB Pearl in a spray can for it too, so it's pretty damn close. If i would have primed it white first, it would have come out more accurately - it's just a bit dark.

Then I went and bought this 24"x48" poster and had it professionally framed for my office.

love the poster. if only it had it for a FR-S

I just bought one of these kits from Amazon for $35. The paints are very expensive, so I got Testor's Automotive Kit to cover the basic blacks, white and silver, along with yellow and red for lights...that was $12. Also, Tamiya has a Mica Blue that they recommend for the WRB.

I have not made a model since I was 11, so any advice in terms of at what point to paint parts would be appreciated.

I would love to get a decent poster...I will have to see if there is a thread on that.

Cheers!
