watanbe rep wheels

Anybody know of any companies producing watanabe replica wheels? Already looked at watanabe's site and they're good but $700 a piece for those things are a bit stupid for what I care to spend. I plan on purchasing 6-8 wheels at a time.

I'm looking for either 16s or 17s. 5x100 obviously. I'd like to have the wheel width be no less than 8" if possible.

Anybody know where to find some of these things?

Saikou 09-04-2012 10:10 AM

not replica's so you'll be happy to hear that:
http://www.watanabe.com.au/

but unsure if they'll ship to you.

Thanks but in my op, i stated that I had already seen and got the prices for legit watanabe wheels shipped to my door. I would rather not spend that much and get more than 4 wheels. I would also be down for some stepped lip te37 style wheels.

16x8 or so in 5x100

VENOM~ 09-04-2012 11:21 AM

rota rb-r?

TylerLieberman 09-04-2012 02:21 PM

Not made in 5x100

VENOM~ 09-04-2012 02:26 PM

5x114.3 swap will be out soon enough I'd think.

TylerLieberman 09-04-2012 10:37 PM

Yeah but I don't care to convert. It'll just take up more room and require a higher offset. Or, if it's done the other way, it'll be too pricey.

Basically, I want something like these:
http://www.classiczcars.com/photopos...0/DSC03586.jpg

Or these:
http://image.nengun.com/catalogue/or...ng_-_te37v.png

MUST BE in 5x100. Preferably 16" diameter and at least 8" in width. Somebody has to know another company besides watanabe and volk that make these in the right sizes...

TylerLieberman 09-04-2012 10:57 PM

Right now, the only exact ones I have found are Volk TE37Vs in 16x8 +25 5x100. All 4 shipped from Japan was quoted to me for $2,486.33

Not to mention the wait to get them. Looking at up to 60 days but whatever. That's how it's been with every custom set of wheels I've ordered. Just really curious to see if there is a cheaper alternative. I can't find one, I might just bite the bullet.

DaJo 09-04-2012 10:59 PM

Haven't really looked into it much for you, but I used to have some Black Racing Watanabe replicas on my old AE86...

They're definitely cheap(er).

You know if they have a site or something? I had seen a picture of them before but could never find a place to possibly order them from.

DaJo 09-04-2012 11:33 PM

Yeah...Unfortunately they don't seem to have a website (that I know of...) and are SUPER hard to find.

I was fortunate enough to get them off another board member... so I can't really help you out there...

You can try craigslist or eBay.

I'll be sure to let you know if I stumble upon anything online.

Best of luck! :happy0180:

Definitely, we will have a LOT of options for you guys :)

Panman 09-05-2012 05:35 AM

What weight and offset would those little blue buggers be?

Yeah. I would be down for a set of 18s down the road. But with 18s, I would want something aggressive with a stepped lip. I was thinking of a 18x9 & 18x10 setup of DY champion wheels for the street. 17s would be for track but until I get 18s, I just want 17s.

Interested to see these RT5s though..

I like my DPT's but i'm thinking I want something in hyper black instead so I will be back in the market probably in the spring hopefully the new stuff will be out by then.

ZC6BRZ 09-05-2012 11:25 AM

diamond racing will make them for you, They're cheap but they're heavy.

r15mohd 09-05-2012 01:34 PM

buy the rota's and have them filled and redrilled to 5x100...i know a few ppl who have done fills and redrill for various cars to fit certain wheels before.

diirk 09-05-2012 01:48 PM

Rota Grid will work. Clone of a Volk. Wheeldude has them.

No weight yet, but we'll report back with that information as soon as we have it.

If there's enough interest we'd be happy to do the RB's in 5x100 for you guys so you don't have to deal with the redrilling.

cyde01 09-05-2012 02:22 PM

They are Rota wheels.

5hairpins 09-05-2012 03:19 PM

So glad I checked this thread. I too would love some of these rims, although not so keen on the blue. What other colors would be available?

we're thinking of a gunmetal style color and maybe a silver

What would you like to see?

how many is "enough interest" ?

stanm 09-05-2012 03:29 PM

I wouldn't mind a gloss or matte black option for the rotas!

just 5 people, but all have to be the same color

5hairpins 09-05-2012 04:54 PM

I like the gunmetal. Bronze is another thought. Gloss Black would not work for me, sorry Stanm.

Haha no worries. My next choice would be gunmetal, can't go wrong with that colour

If there are enough people who would want them in a gunmetal color,I would be down!

WheelDude.com 09-05-2012 05:53 PM

I think gunmetal is for sure, that's the color we feel would get the most interest with.

WheelDude.com 09-05-2012 05:54 PM

Let me get some pictures and start up a bulk order.

5hairpins 09-05-2012 06:55 PM

Out of curiosity and lazyness, what color FRS/BRZs would these wheels be going on? I am Asphalt/Dk. Grey Metalic.

JoeBoxer 09-05-2012 08:24 PM

If i can get some pics of them in gunmetal in that size i may consider it instead of the RT5 as well.

ebphoto 09-06-2012 12:39 AM

do the color that comes on magnesium wats and id buy these as drift spares...
