Hard To Order A BRZ?
Hey everybody, new to the forum. I'm super psyched about acquiring a BRZ but I'm wondering how hard it is to order one from the factory being they are made in limited quantities. Is it still easy to order one the way I want it from the factory? I'm heading to the dealership today to test drive one and will be ordering one within the next month. :happyanim::burnrubber:

Don't quote me on this but, I think if you order from the factory it can take 1 or 2 months depending on if the order gets in and makes it to the earlier shipment. If not you'll have to wait til the later one.
When I asked some dealers how long it would take, I got answers varying between 3-4 weeks and 6-8 weeks. If you're impatient, you might be able to pick one up out-of-state, assuming NJ doesn't have any in stock, or one that isn't exactly what you want. |
Ordering is easy. It's the waiting that sucks. I'm in NJ and ordered August 10th. Just got the call this week that my order has been fulfilled and will be on one of two ships coming in Sept. The NE seems to get cars faster. There are some folks in other parts of the country that ordered back in March/April and are still waiting.

I hate how all of you ordering late are getting yours so quickly. While the rest of us who ordered in feb/march had to wait months -.- good luck on getting it the way you want though! And welcome. Just remember not to get WRBlue :)

Color matters as well. Wrb and swp well take longer, based on what once seen.

1-3 months for me.
according to my dealer, it also depends on how well the dealership is selling their cars as well. If the dealership sells lots of cars, theyre more likely to be allocated more BRZs. |

Ordered mine first week in June. Getting picked up in Japan next week. Getting it delivered end of September. Dealer I ordered from is a relatively small dealer.

As above, it's easy to order, but you might be waiting for a long time as most Subaru dealerships have already sold their allocations.
However, if you're willing to put some effort into getting your car, start calling dealerships and ask if they have any on their lot or if their next shipment is spoken for. Start close and work your way outwards. You may have to expand your search well outside your state. Since you're east coast, try NH, VT, and ME dealerships. They will be larger volume dealerships so they should have a higher allocation, but they won't have as much demand due to the winters and BRZ's RWD. |

Shipping a car is not difficult, I would take the small hit money wise to get it to you. Especially if you have had your test drive and are just looking for the options you want. if a dealer has it on their lot. you could buy it and have it shipped in 2 days, like in my case. |
Thanks for all the quick replies! I test drove it and loved it! Drove my friends fr-s a little while ago and it's the same thing just but the BRZ is better looking with more options. The dealership I went to is the largest on the east coast and a family friend. He said I can order one but who knows when it will come in. He's currently emailing some one higher up in Subaru to find out how many white ones are before me so he can give me a better idea when I'll get my white one. Should hear around Wednesday so I'll keep everyone updated. Probably going to pull the trigger on ordering the car in a few weeks maybe month. I'm guessing I won't see it till wintertime but it's ok I'm not really in a rush and have snow tires on steelies sitting in my basement ready to go.

If you can accept different color or trim, give dealer your phone number. They sometimes have cars which were ordered, but not purchased. You may be able to get one right from the lot. That played to me - only three weeks of waiting, but got limited instead of premium.
|
I have to laugh at how short your waiting times are. When I ordered, the ETA was a year and it's climbing...
|
^^^Damn that sucks but it'll be all worth it in the end unless they improved the car by the time you get yours, :bonk:
I still waiting on mines as well I ordered beginning of June. Could have had it by July end by they got in the wrong color so they had to re-order the correct color for me. |
Turns out there is only one white limited manual tranny in the country that's on order right now so I'm going to pull the trigger and order one tomorrow! :happyanim: He said it should be at the dealership by the end of November. :burnrubber::thumbup:

White, besides making hard to keep it visually clean, just shouts - I am CHEAP! You better have car that looks more expensive, rather than cheaper than it is. |

I forgot to mention, Subaru is trialling a world first in Australia - you can only order online, the car is not sold through dealerships. 2012's allocation of cars (201 Australia-wide) sold in 3.5 hours when they were first released back in July...and it only took that long because the amount of orders that came in crashed the site. There's no room for negotiation but also no dealer can markup the car over RRP. We still get screwed over on car prices more than anywhere in the world, but at least this car wasn't as ridiculously marked up as other.
My BRZ is costing AUD$42,225 or in your terms in USD$43,225 at the current exchange rate. I spec'ed the same car on the Subaru US website and came out at USD$30,114. You guys have it good. |
Just bought the car!!! Should be at the dealership sometime in November!

And this isn't white. Its a pearl white. Has a lot of depth and looks fantastic, especially with dark wheels and tinted windows. Yesterday I saw a pearl white Murciélago which looked amazing. Anyhow, to each his own, and shortly I'll own a pearl white BRZ.

Anyone know if Subaru is going to be ramping up production to import more next year?

Lol I guess I am just really lucky! Saw a limited CBS on my way to work one day (ME) and stopped in on the next day and found out a service guy bought it and his wife made him get rid of it for a forester! Only had 800 miles on it! So I got the first used BRZ in Maine! ;) haha and also got a 6 year 100k warrantee to boot! They don't sell sti's there because they say it's a liability! So they were not going to be getting another BRZ.....the only reason he got it is because he was the service manager and pre ordered it before anyone else did :) car was perfect until the baboon detailed it before I drove it off :( looks like he used the same shop towel to dry off the last twelve foresters :( hairline swirl city
