Sounds like Dynamic Turbo needs a vendor account.

Welcome Manny!

yomny 08-29-2012 11:43 AM

interested, what are the details. Their website could be a little overwhelming sometimes.

What advantages do they offer over Visconti?

I think its better just to call.

This, yomny, is the Flash I had written about on another thread. (That DT was offering).

It is VERY similar to what John is offering. There is a dyno sheet buried in the site, but I can't find it right now in one of the e85 threads. It will offer map switching, launch control, all the bells and whistles. I believe it was 34 WHP on e85 stock car just with a catback.

So it's not earth-shattering news...

I guess not :D....

I don't know the EXACT price, but I heard it was lower than $1300 (current price for Visconti e85 tune).According to their website, its $750. The only thing I am not sure of is what is included in DT's price. I know the cable is not included. Someone with more knowledge on how ECUTek works may chime in.

Obviously DT needs to get a license from ECUTek to flash your car. My question is, is that license yours after DT flashes your car? If so, then I'd say its a good "Unofficial" price without cable.

Edit: reading up on their website (Search keyword: ECUTek) the price is right on par (give or take $25) with John.

I'm doing all the launch control testing and map switching testing with EcuTek. When it's ready and working you'll hear from me first - promise

Oh I know, maybe I am not being clear enough, but all those features are not available at the moment and will be in a future update, confirming what you are saying :)

Correct - only a few shop cars have those features - not ready for the wild yet.

Glad to see another EcuTek tuner on this forum , maybe they can help take some of this weight off shoulders

Quick Question, the license DT gets from ECUTek is mine to keep, meaning I can then tune my car with whomever I want?

There's a guy off university dr. Southfloridaturbo is there shop name and he b able to tune you up he's pretty good

manny25 08-29-2012 01:26 PM

Thank you for the welcome guys. Newbie here on the forums. I'm not sure exactly where in their website they have it listed. Best bet is Google them and give them a ring. I got mine recently reflashed with all the features. I think they have the cable available not sure since I'm local and didn't need it. The reflash is night and day difference.

gmookher 08-29-2012 02:37 PM

what are the differences between the tunes, parameter wise? I drive at sea level, and at 10,000 feet. have either tuner done high altitude testing? The car is mostly toy, not at all daily driver. Lets push that envelope.

manny25 08-29-2012 02:53 PM

^^ Haven't heard of anything of that nature. But contact them and find out to be certain.

yomny 08-29-2012 04:43 PM

This may be my next mod, the car really needs a tune, badly. I'm just waiting till after 2k miles or so to rule out most of the crazy problems people are having w/CEL and other things in case i need to drop it at the dealer(yes i know it has been mentioned it was undetectable). Keep us posted, on the details and what the tune provides as of now, if possible. Thanks

FA20Club.com 08-30-2012 12:02 AM

You guys in south florida have another option as well check the dealer list....
http://www.ecutek.com/Dealers.aspx as a plus we offer free dyno tuning for anyone local who purchases our flash for no extra charge cant beat that with a stick.

FYI we are not selling other vendors flashes these are all done inhouse and can be one off for anyone who has mods outside the current flashes on the market.

manny25 08-30-2012 07:53 AM

^Thanks for the info. However, the question is, Do all dealers know how to use it ? and do they all provide reliability and good customer service we are all looking for ?

manny25 08-30-2012 07:55 AM

Also looking at your flash, it only makes 13whp ?

yomny 08-30-2012 07:56 AM

There's only one way to find out...FA20 so your flash basically if a customer is local is custom for everyone that drops by? You throw them on the dyno and tune based on the results? Thanks

manny25 08-30-2012 08:06 AM

^I don't really understand their method either.

Sounds like his flash can work the same as any other vendors, they have a base map that they can email you and you flash. Then some tuners will ask for datalogs to make adjustments specific to your car.

FA20 does the same thing, but local people can also stop by and have those adjustments made on the dyno. It's my understanding that this is the preferred method for most tuners.

To be able to get your car flashed with ECUTek, you need to pay ECUTek for a license for your car. I said "License DT" meaning the license Dynamic Turbo would get from ECUTek to tune my car.

So to get your car tuned via ECUTek you need 3 things:

1) License for your car (from ECUTek)
2) Cable (either you buy the cable or loan it from the tuner or a friend)
3) the tune (this is the work the tuner will do either at the Dyno or providing a flash he has already developed that is compatible your car and configuration).

so my tuner (or myself) would have to buy the license so i can tune the car with whoever i want? right?:bonk:

Yes, once you get the license it is yours to keep. Example, I get the tune from Dynamic Turbo so at that moment I pay the license, and their tune.

In a year, I want Visconti to tune my new Supercharger setup. I don't have to pay for a license again. I just need to pay Visconti for his tune. He will use my already purchased license to be able to flash his tune.

This is directly from Visconti's groupbuy thread:
Quote:

The cable is $350
EcuTek license is $250
Tune $350
I did not get into his groupbuy because I either plan on going FI or staying N/A with all Nameless mods, and they will be providing a specific tune for their setup via ECUTek flash. I think these are more or less standard prices.

i heard that the license was $3,500 or something that that (which i think is crazy btw)

i just want to go FI and be able to have a local tuner tune my car ( i live in Puerto Rico)

3,500 price is if you want to become an ECUTek licensed tuner. So you get the 3,500 kit, learn and become the person that does tunes for $350. (I'm originally from San German, living in Miami :))

@manny25 Sorry to have :threadjacked: but I feel the discussion is pertinent to ECUTek flashing, and I'm sure will respond to a lot of people's questions about what is and how to flash ECUTek.

oh nice! Boricuas! jajaja :party0030:

my local tuenr is already a ECUtek licensed tuner. i dont know if you have heard of him. Gadiel Tuning. Awesome guy

gmookher 08-30-2012 11:30 AM

FA20 was one of the few ecutek vendors who seemed interested in data logging. I am surprised other vendors like Visconti are so busy fulfilling orders, its clear they are understaffed, and product development/ refinement have been put to the back burner.

How do i know what they sell at sea level will be what I need at 7000 feet?
I want to be able to try visconti tune vs a fa20 tune and see what dynos better

problem is each vendor is authoring maps in a bubble...

subatoy 08-30-2012 11:33 AM

I hope tuners stopped this E85 crap, it just sound pretty because of the bigger numbers you get but it's not convenient and I'm sure 90% of people don't use it.

Well, to our blessing, the Miami area has E85 readily accessible, so for example Dynamic turbo has a potential big market of people eager to get their hands on a e85 map.

also E85 has the biggest potential for HP gains so why not? It's more bang for the buck.

Now, I do see your point in offering both options. Dynamic Turbo is offering both, an E85 tune and a 93 octane tune.
