Here are a few pics of the fitment I did for an FRS, lowered on Eibach Pro-Kit with 18x8.5 +38mm all around. 225/40R18 front, 245/35R18 rear with Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position tires. Front has camber bolts.

Why would you stagger the tire sizes on squared wheels? That's just going to make the car understeer...

No differently/more than staggering tires on staggered wheels. There are OE's that stagger tires on square wheels as well (my Lexus came equipped with such a setup actually).

BTW, how much did you pay for the rims?

ChrisOkc8 08-25-2012 02:09 PM

Love those wheels and it's stance. Very clean.

Quick question is your tail-lights tinted?

It's red vinyl. I'd rather have them tinted and I may look into it. The vinyl needs to have too many relief cuts in order to not lift off (which it still does in some places). :(

I understand staggering tires on mismatched wheel sizes, but with squared wheels you can maintain the proper balance of the car with squared tires. OEM manufacturers do stagger wheels on cars for a few reasons (promote understeer for safe driving dynamics, looks, and also to increase traction with large amounts of power). On this car (like most) it's a detriment to the handling balance.

Jeff Lange 08-25-2012 04:01 PM

Yes I understand what staggered tires do to the vehicle's balance and why a square setup is often preferred (unless the suspension was designed to work well with a staggered setup). The main reason this car got the wider rear tires was due to looks. Yes I could have gone with square tires, but it was not the look I wanted for the car.

did you have to roll the fenders?

#87 08-28-2012 08:09 AM

I guess you are unaware the BRZ STi concept staggered 215/225 on square wheels

Amazing.

Z86 08-31-2012 07:36 PM

Love it, same size I'm waiting on, I'll probably go 235's on the back. Getting the same springs too - did you feel you needed the camber bolts on front?
Notice any real change to drive/performance?
What did you paint the brakes with?

Jeff Lange 08-31-2012 07:53 PM

Without the camber bolts the front sticks out more than I'd want, with them it is perfect. The tires make a huge difference to performance. I don't care much for the stock Primacy HP's, they don't have a high enough grip for a proper performance car, in my opinion. I didn't notice too much difference in ride quality with the 18's. The calipers were painted with some standard high-temperature caliper paint (don't remember the brand).

FlushBrz 09-01-2012 12:07 PM

Love this setup

dark.star 09-01-2012 09:20 PM

Didn't know you bought an frs jeff, or is it someone from your work? Great pics tho, cemented my decision to go black / dark wheels on my white frs, same size exactly, and def getting the 5axis rear lip. Very sharp combo. Props oem Lange!

Jeff Lange 09-01-2012 10:36 PM

It's currently nobody's car. Just getting driven around/enjoyed by people at the moment.

I do not have an FR-S. Yet.

mezdup 09-03-2012 01:43 PM

Is that just the springs or full coilovers? And what else did you have to do to the suspension. Thanks in advance. Looks great

Anyone know measurements of this wheel to fit and clear the 2017 BRZ with Brembos at 18x8.5?
