Database Error

When trying to report bots or spammers, I get this:

Attachment 223155

Maybe this is the reason these users aren't getting booted when I report them? Perhaps it's a different issue? :iono:

2.2Lude 11-17-2023 09:38 AM

You have to keep trying and it will eventually go through. Usually takes 3 - 5 attempts for me.

Its pretty bad honestly.

Wally86 11-21-2023 10:00 AM

I thought that was happening due to proxy issues/blockers at work lol

RT-BRZ 11-22-2023 02:32 PM

It appears that this problem is expanding. There are reports of new users being unable to register and that changing the password for an existing user doesn't work either.

Are there any admins for the forum that can look into this?

Ultramaroon 11-22-2023 03:56 PM

I feel bad for the sponsors and vendors. They're paying for this.

dragoontwo 11-22-2023 05:29 PM

I have tried, but I haven't been able to report this post for being a link spammer.
@ichitaka05 Can you ban this guy? It has 3 posts total and always comes back to edit and add spam links in.

Done.

Somehow I haven’t received any report in a while, so thanks for mentioning me.

Quite a few people I know haven't been able to make an account. Probably why we're seeing more zombie spam accounts instead of fresh ones appearing.

It's not a bug, it's a feature.

dragoontwo 12-04-2023 10:02 AM

Getting nothing but data base errors with the New Posts button.

FR-S2GT86 12-04-2023 10:28 PM

Just like vehicles, websites must also be maintained. It would seem that an oil change is in need. :hitcomputer:

Since it seems to be linked to "New" and "Today's Posts" it's likely an index issue, or even a space issue. Regardless, it's a PITA if the whole way you use the site is to click on New Posts.

Enigmeerkat 12-05-2023 09:04 PM

+1 here having issues with any search. New Posts is unusable.

I've never known any search on any forum to be good.

I just use google like this -> "[search terms] site:ft86club.com"

New posts is different. It's more a filter than a search. It shows you all threads that have a post since the last time you visited. It is/was my primary way of using the forum.

Click on New Posts
Review List
Wheel Click on any of interest (opening them in a new tab)
Use Quick Link to mark forum as read.

Now I have to default back to using the front page to see which subforums have new posts, opening each of those in a new tab, then reviewing the threads. It's almost as efficient but not quite.

Ohh, I was just talking about the search part. I guess I haven't clicked new posts in a minute here. (Odd, on two other forums, I use them constantly).

I wonder what's happening on the backend that's causing the database to be so wonky.

Ahh Great! Just tried this and the 86 logo is highlighted for new posts.
Clicking the User CP tab brings up unread subscribed threads(I think)

2.2Lude 12-06-2023 07:20 PM

New posts button is how I primarily interact with the site.

Curious why this site is filled with database and server errors. I'm on at least a dozen other forums and have never had such a poor user experience.

Yep that's the longer method.

new2subaru 12-06-2023 09:01 PM

For days now, if I hit "New posts" and I get the database error page. It makes it nearly impossible to use the forum without this feature.

Is the Admin going bankrupt? If they don't care sell it to someone else who does.

Many forums ask for a small fee. It doesn't have to be lost just because the current owner doesn't give a shit. Do the right thing and pass it on.

Enough is enough.

For what it's worth using the forum front page to ID subforums with new posts (the logo is highlighted), the quickly reviewing those works almost as quickly as New Posts, at least on a PC browser, as mentioned above.

FR-S2GT86 12-07-2023 11:48 AM

Maybe it WAS @Tcoat maintaining this site the whole time. :iono:

The "find posts" links within our user profiles screen is
now giving the same database error. This issue is
definitely a hinderance on accessing old posts that we
need to refer back to.

I appreciate that. That's how I'm viewing now.

I'm just frustrated that this forum is being left for dead. I'm afraid it will cease to exist and there's no reason for it except for lack of caring. There's a entire library of information that will be lost. A lot of that information I refer back to regularly.

Like I said earlier just sell if if you don't care anymore.

We could become a member-owned anarcho-syndicalist commune where we take it in turns to act as a sort of executive administrator for the week.

You're fooling yourself. We're living in a dictatorship. A self-perpetuating autocracy in which the working classes--

There you go, bringing "class" into it again.

Dadhawk 12-08-2023 07:40 AM

@Enigmeerkat you sure about that? Personally I identify as an NPC in this forum virtual reality running on a demigod's 1981 level IBM PC where my primary job is to make snide comments about the conspiracy theorist NPCs, occasionally necromance old threads, and to be the occasional foil or straight man for @Irace86.2.0.

It's a good life, until someone turns the power off on us anyway.

This was the one I noticed as well. The "New Posts" button is well news to me lol. I must give it a try :burnrubber:

FR-S2GT86 12-08-2023 11:41 AM

If this goes on much longer we're gonna have to go back to watching old Red Green episodes for information on car modifications.
