Does this sound like clutch chatter?

So this is my 3rd clutch I’m at 108k miles I got a southbend stage 2. Before I had an ACT Street kit. And before that was stock. I can’t tell if this is normal clutch chatter or if it’s TOB noise. https://streamable.com/9fn8fj

It doesn't really sound like it. Do you have the same sound at idle?

Nope. Just when I drive. As soon as I push the clutch in it goes away. I just hope i don’t have to replace it again.

Did you replace the front bearing retaining cover at either of the 2 other clutch jobs?

blsfrs 10-12-2023 12:36 PM

If you could, try to get a better recording of the sound. Maybe I'm old and my hearing ain't what it used to be, but I couldn't hear anything other than engine and air noise.

Also, a bad TOB usually makes the most noise with the clutch pedal depressed.

Unfortunately my car has catless headers and a catback exhaust so it’s going to be loud. The only way I can make the noise is when driving. It doesn’t make it at idle. It kind of sounds like rattling kind of like a maraca which makes me think it’s just clutch chatter but idk. It also only happens in higher gears.

Flywheel, release arm spring, Release Brg. Clip, that’s it. Says Remove and replace clutch, customer has aftermarket flywheel, clutch fork, and pivot, inspect upon removal. Replace if necessary. The one before that says remove and replace clutch, clutch fork, pivot and springs, and flywheel. Has the same parts. I currently have a Stage 2 Daily kit from south bend.

Sounds like 3rd time will be the charm then.

How many headers you manage to get on there?

I’m going to try to take it to the shop that installed both clutches tomorrow.

Maybe 50/50. I want you to get your clutch worked out, but your car doesn’t have headers.

I literally bought catless UEL headers from JDL auto works and installed them myself.

Your vehicle only accepts one header.

"Headers", something that is normally said by many people is the incorrect terminology for the exhaust part known as a "Header". It is very similar to the phenomenon of "Rims" used to refer to "wheels".

Most people don't care, but some, they double down on having to needlessly correct others in a fashion akin to being an asshole (or a not so funny troll). WHALECUM TO FORUMS :D

Many vehicles do have multiple headers. This one doesn't.

Update, my wheel bearing is bad. Nothing wrong with the exhaust system.

dang, good thing it had nothing to do with the exhaust system.
