Driving Shoes!

... because you have to feel the brake pedal with your toe joint!

NB XC Seven V3... $40 on Ebay (runs 1/2 size too small).

Yes, it is a cross country running shoe... thin sole and don't screw in the spikes it comes with. Otherwise pretend it says Piloti!!

And it says RACING!!

I would 100% rock those if I had a need for driving gloves.

Piloti are not that expensive in online sales, I paid $70 for apex on otrium.

Just get Vans or Etnies skateboard shoes. They are literally designed for maximum feeling. Light weight, easy to put on and off. Most come in Swade. Perfect.

I have a pair of basic Vans and they are my favorite driving shoes. Got them pretty cheap from what I remember.

Goodyear USA has some affordable driving shoe options for those who want something purpose built and SCCA members get 30% off. Never tried them though.

Pumas are also great for driving. I have a pair of their Sparco partnership and they have been great. Even use them on my sim rig.

Clasic converse like O'Conner

I like my $19 Pumas from Costco.

We used to allow canvas deck shoes with fire resistant socks when racing F2000's in the rain. They work great.
I have a pair of slip-on shoes from Schumacher Shoe Store at our local mall. They are black with red accent to match my tS.

I'm pretty much always wearing flip flops or bike shoes, neither of which are great for driving. I keep a pair of these Amazon driving loafers in the flat tire repair compartments under the trunk. Cheap, work great, and quick to change into.

This. I use Van's or DCs depending on the pedal placement of the car. Sometimes wide DC's make it easier, sometimes need the skinnier Vans. But both are great pedal feel.

There is a video where Ayrton Senna is testing the NSX with loafers shoes.

Indeed

The only time I had the need for 'driving shoes' was when I had my Caterham.. Footwell was too tight for plimsols....

BioRebel 08-04-2023 09:23 AM

Just get a set of PUMA Drift Cats. They're cheap but real nice. (just buy 1 size larger than normal since they're REAL narrow)

I tried a track day in a set of converse style sneakers but they would somehow rotate on my foot in a weird way.

Classic!

Like the last time we did this thread, I just wear the same barefoot shoes I wear anyways. Whatever is the last model Merrell Vapor glove that hasn't worn out yet.
