This car is so fun to drive, now I have to figure out how all this stuff works

RippedManiac 01-01-2023 05:20 AM

R is indeed the racing gear. Use when you can't get what you need from 6th.

Congrats on the pickup! Ignore the trolls.

Sasquachulator 01-02-2023 05:38 PM

This has to be a troll thread......

The car has no tech requiring "learning", theres hardly anything difficult to figure out!

In fairness the opening post reads exactly like the spam ones we see several times a day, every day. You can almost taste the coming spam link.
Of course when you look at the OP's post history you should see that this is not a bot but damn it does read like one!

Depends where you are starting from.

I only got my BRZ 4 weeks ago.

Compared to a 1999 Honda Civic there is a significant amount of tech (for me) to learn.

Where's the tape deck?

Yeah, and how the hell does one roll down the windows?

I hear you, I had a 2009 Elantra, where is the CD player?

My wife's 2022 Ascent still has a CD player. I was shocked.

Wow, I didn't know they still did that. My dad wishes his Crosstrek had it. Came from an 04 Limited Outback with the CD player that stored something like 5 CD's and could switch between them. That's fancy tech right there!

The switching ones I had in my cars usually had a life expectancy of about 2 months before they jammed and were useless.

He got lucky then. His 04 lasted most of the cars life and gave out after about 13 years, after which I replaced his whole unit with an aftermarket stereo.

Well, my 2006 STi had a six disk in dash unit. It was still working fine when I sold the car thirteen years and 280k later. I have over a thousand CD's and there were always CDs playing when ever I drove it.

I feel that expression is for people born before 1990

Sasquachulator 01-06-2023 11:15 AM

Our 2017 BMW X1 has a CD player

We dont use it, phones and flash drives store a shitton more music files than the 12-15 or so tracks per CD.

Of course if we wanted to use it, we will (The glove box still has a bunch of CDs sitting there :D)

Greg Erskine 03-19-2023 08:30 PM

Hey Snoopysvet,

Have you mastered it yet? :)

Greg Erskine 03-19-2023 08:40 PM

Are these blue BRZ common or what?

I was just at a set of traffic lights and there was 3 near-identical blue 22/23 BRZ's in spitting distance. Starting to think about quantum entanglement.

Only saw one other BRZ on the way home.

No Toyota 86's.

soundman98 03-19-2023 09:37 PM

i've seen 1 new stock one, 1 anime vinyl wrapped one, and one drift-bombed/sawzalled-bumper/6' tall bozoku tailpipe one.

but all in passing. the dealers don't even have any to look at.

I think it really depends on where you are.

I've not seen another second-gen BRZ/GT86 in my area in over four months. Since the second gen has been released I've only seen 5 or 6 in my area; 4 were BRZ's, 1~2 were GT86's.

Last year my second gen BRZ was the only one at the Cars and Coffee I attend, there were a few first gen BRZ/86/FRS which would show up.

At my local autocross events there are two second gens, both blue, but mine is WRC blue and the other guy's is Sapphire Blue. From that sample I'd say the blues are pretty popular, but when looking back over all the second gen cars I've seen across several states over the last two years I've seen just as many in white as I've seen in blue, with at least one or two in red.

True. I live on part of the "the old highway" which is the beginning of many day trips to the north of Sydney.
