I have a great idea!
Subaru should model their version after the FRS! Stick a turbo in there, brembo brakes and charge 30k then call it a day. Hire me for CEO SOA!
|
You forgot the straight 6 twin turbo and the carbon fiber chassis.
|
And I want a Fighter Jet that can fly me to another universe using a drop of diesel.
|
3.0l Flat-6 with 300 hp as light as the 2.0l 4cyl
|
|
I want an engine that will run on the hopes and dreams of Subaru fanboys. I'll never run out of fuel.
|
I've already thought of something similar.
2.0 liter turbo with 265 hp/265tq A Track Package(LSD/Brembo/18''wheels and tires/Track tuned suspension) A Premium Interior Package(Leather seats/Premium Sound/etc) MSRP $29,999+dest |

If Hyundai can do that with the GC (new Sonata turbo engine) Toyota/Subaru sure could. It is just a matter of whether they feel like doing it. Quote:

Like what? the Interior in the Gen Coupe is on par with Scion if not better? The quality rivals Honda/Acura(Elantra and Sonata) and German automakers(GenSed and Equus) for the price. |

As far as Hyundai, part of it is physical attributes... but some of it is mental too. Plus I've experienced the Hyundai of old and that left a very bad taste, much like Pontiac, and we see where they are now. There are just too many alternatives within my budget for me to make a large investment into a brand I don't trust. |

The 2011 Genesis coupe interior has much better materials too. It felt more like a mid-high 20k interior rather than as cheap as the 2010 model. |

I like my cake and eat it too!!! 3.8 Track Model 300+ hp 6 spd manual RWD Low slung Sports coupe body Track Package Premium Package Nav Package 10year/100,000 mile warranty MSRP $30,500+ dest You'll be hard pressed to get all of that with any other manufacturer. Sure you could pay the same price and get 106 more horsepower and get a ''BASE" model 5.0 Stang or a "BASE" SS |
^ yeah I agree. I personally prefer the looks of the GC over the Mustang and Camaro. Also, you can't beat the 10/100k warranty. I just wish they would put the car on a diet. Part of the reason I am interested in the FT86, I just want something nimble and lightweight.

You could find aftermarket aluminum control arms, links, driveshafts. You'll love this thread and will be able to see all the cast steel and iron used versus stamped. http://www.rwdcoupe.com/suspension/1...-overview.html |

Yeah I'm not holding my breath, but if they could get the weight closer to 3000lbs flat I would get one. I realize the $$ cost, so that is probably why they don't do that but that would be a dream of mine. |

The new Supra needs to be priced around a Vette, but it needs to out perform it...or AT LEAST be on par with it. Remember these articles back in the day?
http://i56.tinypic.com/2n9xmxs.jpg http://i52.tinypic.com/3359p3k.jpg They need to bring that world beating image back. The sticker should be right there around the Vette at $50k, maybe a bit more. http://i52.tinypic.com/98yg74.jpg http://i54.tinypic.com/2n1vzif.jpg Oh, and please DO NOT focus on what kind of fuel economy it gets. :) |
^ Problem is, I mentioned in another thread, that it would need LFA performance for Corvette or GT-R money, and that's not going to go over too well with the LFA owners...

I wouldn't say LFA performance, more like Corvette Grand Sport performance. That leaves a pretty substantial gap between the two. Top speed LFA 202 mph Vette 186 mph Ring LFA 7:38 Vette 7:59 1/4 LFA 11.8 Vette 12.5 0-60 LFA 3.5 Vette 4.5 60-0 LFA 106ft Vette 112ft Skid pad LFA 1.07g Vette .96g Slalom LFA 75.1 mph Vette 68.8 mph There are a lot of things they could leave off of the Supra. Things like custom ducting into the cabin is unnecessary and I'm sure costly. Launch Control. Even the counter gear driveshaft thing is, I would assume, a rather expensive addition. There are ooodles of things they could leave off of a more realistic/non-supercar car to keep a gap between the LFA and Supra. Don't you agree? |

I know you know I was trolling. But in all seriousness I don't see why they couldn't used the FT86 chassis, drop the 2 rear seats, use the 2UR-GSE, 6 speed, use a minimalistic interior geared towards the driver and sell it for $50-60k. |
That was an awesome throwback Supra article...the super cars of the 90s'
