How mad would you be if....
The BRZ/FRS/GT86 got a huge upgrade in the 2014 model and you already bought the 2013 one.
Say they added a turbo but it cost the same as the non turbo'ed version now. Or if they slapped the STI engine into it and have it priced the same. |
Not to be a ****, but I don't get the point of this exercise. It's not going to happen, even if there is a turbo version down the road, it will cost significantly more.
|
thats not gonna happen ...pointless thread sorry dude.
|
Thread makes no sense

Happened to me in 2003. I bought the 04 STi and the 05 had rediculous amounts of upgrades. Didn't bother me. I was happy that I had an STi regardless of what ever the next car had.
Cars will only ever get better. They aren't going to build a car and break a mold to never make the next one better. If your worried about the next car being better then wait for the next car. It will be better in some way. |
I just about blew snot all over my keyboard!

Tomorrow you went out to your car and there were penguins driving a gymkhana course in it? |

If you think like that, you will never buy anything. You will always be thinking about what is going to be upgraded next. It's a vicious cycle...
|
I think I'd be mad:)
|
Yeah it's like computers they will likely find something to upgrade.
I had an 05 WRX and the next year they made it a 2.5L, gave it 4-pot brakes, aluminum suspension bits, etc. Then they made a lot more horsepower in 2008. If you are waiting for th next big thing you'll always be waiting. |

I doubt it'll get a turbo but one things for certain, next year will have less issues! |

Dude, I got a 2013 in May 2012. I feel ahead of the game.
|
Might as well wait for the 2015 model or better yet - for the next generation.
|
I don't care if they add power. But if they lower the curb weight and the price is the same then I'll turn green and cause some ruckus in SoA!
"It's easy to add power, it's harder to decrease weight to perform handling" |
Mad? I'm hoping they improve a lot in the next few years. I leased mine so that I can upgrade when the time comes.
|
Isn't this the same guy that made the "would you be made if..." Scions were made Toyotas next year <_<;
|
I look at it this way, I have my first year FRS. When it's paid for I will buy the nest version and this one might actually have 35K on it. So the next Version FRS might even come with the newest Mr Fusion.

I'd be mad that Subaru completely messed up what made this such a good car in the first place! |

I don't understand? Your directing me to prove my point? The 88 Corolla has gotten better ever year after. The RX8 was the evolution of the RX7 and we still don't know if they will rebuild another RX. The Sentra SER is still on the road and being produced. The 280ZX is survived by the 350 and 370 Z's repectively. |
|
Wouldn't bother me a bit. I'd sell the BRZ and get the next best thing. :D

Two of the worst examples of what you are fearing are the 2004 GTO and SSR. the next model year they each had huge improvements, after many shelled out well over sticker for the original ones. I think Subaru and Toyota are much smarter than that. Pat |
Yup. Agreed. The BRZ is just a bridge car for me anywho. If the next WRX/STi or BRZ is better, I'll trade up.
If not I'll hold onto it like I did with my STi. Even though the 05 STi had a butt ton of changes, they weren't enough to make me feel buyers remorse. |

Subaru sales and marketing will not let that happen. There is always a "future model" in their shop, ready to bring that out to the market, they will wait until the sales number goes down and or competition comes in. Either way is not going to happen for a while. What I can guess is Subaru will announces price increase on MSRP soon, with 0 change, so get your car quick! Do you think adding $1k on the MSRP will stop the waiting list getting longer?
|
Not mad at all. Turbo = more insurance, and at 25 years young I can only afford so much.
Thanks NA engine. |
