My exhaust is tilted

My left pipe leans out more than my right one.
Do you know how to make them even?
Thank you!

I suggest you place a piece of pipe in one of them, then heat up the last bend in the tail pipe with a torch, then push/pull on the piece of pipe till the tail piece it is where you want it to be.

Bubba says just to stick a two foot long piece of waterpipe in the offending one, stick your foot up against the muffler and yank on it till it's straight.

Could just be your exhaust setup needs some adjustments. The Corsa system I ran had a similar issue I could fix by rotating the midpipe section slip joints up/down which effected the alignment of how far the one side poked.

Thanks, I prefer to try some adjustments than heat up some parts. I don't think that stock midpipe has slip joints, right?

The mounting flanges may have been manufactured or knocked cattywompus.

:/

FYI, I passed awhole afternoon loosing all the parts of the exhaust and adjusting them.
Absolutely no difference.

My thought was the rear hangars not being centered on their post.

gpvecchi 07-19-2022 04:55 AM

The only way to correct is to bend them, with the risk of snapping them...

tomm.brz 07-19-2022 08:07 AM

mine too, no solution

Heck, your exhaust pieces aren't made out of glass ...... are they?

OK, here is the humfrz method. Take your car up to a muffler shop and tell them how you want them to look. Sit back in the customer lounge and read part of a car magazine. When they are finished, inspect them to make sure they are the way you want them. Pay them, don't worry about how much it costs - the job is done - right? Go home, have a beer and take a nap.

Muffler shops? There nothing like that in Italy...

Ahh Italy, such great memories... such a beautiful country!

But as I recall from all the magnificent statues, one side always hangs a little lower than the other!:bonk:

Thank you very much for your appreciation! Unluckily Italy is a beautiful place, stuck in bureaucracy and corruption...
Every exhaust has to be ECE approved, so muffler artisans are out of the market...

OK, how about you post a picture(s) of your maligned exhaust -

Maybe we can see a solution - :iono:

Was this in regards to the hangars? maybe I used the wrong term. The rubber piece that attaches the muffler to the car. If it's not centered on the stationary post that's welded to the car it can have this effect. When I first installed my exhaust I had the same thing and I went under and shook things around a bit. Also noticed one of the rubber hangars was not sitting straight and centered across the post. Once I adjusted it it righted itself. A little water with some soap added should loosen it up enough to help it along.

That picture says a lot. You know they are disabled and how they got that way.

EDIT: Wait, that's a PA tag. Now it makes sense.

EDIT 2: $10 says that's walmart

Thanks, unluckily it's difficult to take a straight photo: the left tip leans out 1 cm more than the right one.

Bubba's LAST tip.

Spread a fender cover on the ground along side the offending exhaust piece. Lay down and kick the end of the tail pipe till it looks like the other one.

This is exactly what I have done in the past and would do again if needed. It works.
Well except I just laid on the concrete since I would not want to get a fender cover covered in grit.

My OEM and magnaflow exhausts were like this. My perrin was perfect out of the box.

One of my corsa catback tips stuck out a bit further than the other side as well. Loosening the bolts, adjusting it and retightening it fixed it by ~90%
