Do 215's look stretched on the stock gen2 7.5" wheels?

For 2022 owners out there, does the stock 215 tires look stretched on factory wheels which I believe are 7.5 inches? If you could also say what tires you have :D

I'm ordering 215 PS4S's for my new new Enkei GTC02 wheels which are 7.5 inches and really hope they don't have a stretched look.

My current 215 Primacies look ever so slightly stretched on my factory 2017 wheels which are only 7 inches, but I'm thinking PS4S tires are visually wider than the primacies even on the same size:iono:

Yes they look slightly stretched. I don’t think it looks bad but you can decide for yourself. This is the oem 215 primacy on the 7.5” base wheel.

Yup, the 215 Primacys are stretched. I don't love it.

+1

I'm going to start running all-seasons on my stock wheels and I'll be going with 225s instead of 215s.

Some tires for wider which helps. PS4S fit a bit wider than the primacy from my understanding which should help fill the wheel better. Michelin's site isn't listing the actual tread width.

The primacys on 7.5" wheels looks similar to 215 PS4S on my 17x8s.

I put 225s on the OEM 18s and it's more square. looks way better IMO

215 on 7.5 looks a bit stretched, but feels perfect

Stock, I'm sure. But if you were getting into the 200TW and RComp stuff, not necessarily.

For RComps in the Miata world, we ran 205s on 8, 225s on 9, 245s on 10s and 275s on 11s.

Are you guys running so stretched tires to give more support to tire with soft sidewall and low inflation pressure?
And this is probably on track, not autox, right?

The rim protector certainly makes it appear more stretched than it actually is.

That's why I specifically brought up 200TW and Rcomps, they run WIDE. My 205s were barely stretched on an 8"

Still ran normal pressures, but yes, a tiny bit of stretch does help sidewall stiffness and the tires more responsive to inputs without losing grip.

EDIT: I washed my car last night and took a good look at the tires while cleaning the wheels. Ignore everything I said below. They are bit stretched, even without the visual distraction of the tire's rim protector.

I was thinking the same thing.

The OEM 215 PS4's on my car seem to be pretty flush with the side of the wheel, but the rim protector creates a slight slope to the sidewall which makes it look slightly stretched.

As said above each tire manufacturers 215 tire will be slightly different sizes on the wheel.

Even within one manufacturer the same size and aspect tire may be different width or height depending what model tire you're running.

A little stretch is not a bad thing, and is usually advantageous from a performance standpoint. I ran 215s on the stock 8" wheels on my rx8 (found a set of firehawk indy 500s super cheap in that size) and they worked surprisingly well on street and track. For 200tw track tires on my miatas I ran 205's on 8" width and 225 on 9" width.

Only Primacys look stretched, they run narrow.

The 215 Falkens i have are flush and pretty every other 215 looks flush too.

Sorry to thread jack but will it be ok to run the factory Michelin sport 4 on a 8.5 inch wheel? I found a set of 8.5 inch wide wheels locally at a good price and want to reuse the OE tires. I just want to make sure it's safe should i take the car to the track.

Thanks.

Michelin says the 215/40-18 is good for 7.00-8.50" wide rims.

I did see that but wanted to know if people have used this kind of stretch on track. I am pretty sure I will be ok but just wanted to solicit the advice of the experienced.

Thanks.

I'm sorry about that. I thought you were asking if they would physically fit. Should be perfectly safe, though.
