Cusco Parts

Curious on anyone who has purchased any of the Cusco Parts in comparrison to others that are out.

Looking for likes dislikes suggestions on other companies

I know the use of the Oil Catch Can but curious on how useful it would be on a daily drive that will eventually be tracked.

Trd or Cusco brace and do I bother with the rear?

I have cusco 40 way adjustable street zero coilovers and I love them... The ride is great and the quality is top notch

empower-auto 08-17-2012 02:21 PM

It's all top notch - and the prices show it. Some of the prices are really off base though and remind me of ARC without the bling.

So far i have:

Cusco Front Strut Bar
Cusco Rear Strut Bar
Cusco Front Member Brace
Cusco Rear Member Brace
Cusco Rear Adjustable Control Arms
Cusco Rear Thicker Sway bar
Cusco Front and Rear Tow Hooks (Only used for track)

I didnt feel a different with the strut bars, the members did make the car feel more precise while in the middle of a corner and the sway bar made the car have a bit more oversteer which i like since my car tended to understeer a bit. So far i am very happy with the cusco goodies. Only thing i dont recommend is lower end cusco coilovers ive had them and they are meh you pay for the name, their monotubes are tits though.

Cusco parts are nothing but top notch high quality parts and are on the top of my suspension goodies list! so far got strut bars, next will be sway bars and control arms.

Cusco parts are absolute junk!!!

If you are going to track, I'd get a higher quality product. For example, coilovers get Penske, JRZ, or even Konis. Atleast Konis are rebuildable.

Hanakuso 08-17-2012 03:52 PM

Not the best stuff but IMO they are the good quality for the price range. I think the higher in price the performance value starts to diminish

Looks like a medium skilled fabricator could modify the stock pieces to make them as good

iLuveKetchup 08-17-2012 04:44 PM

What's wrong with the arms to begin with?

Alright now, serious question. What is the benefit of having a 40 way adjustable kit as opposed to a standard non adjustable coilover kit. Do you really need to adjusted your suspension in 40 different ways?

Ohlins, soooooooooon!

Norcalscionchamp 08-17-2012 05:29 PM

So you can adjust the coils differently when driving on the track or for daily driving, all with the turn of a little dial...also you can adjust the front and rear independently so that the steering can be really dialed in...smooth ride for the daily commute and tight as on rails ride for track days : )

Read my top response, its not for looks thought by the picture you guys would see that it was pretty obvious i did not replace them for looks but for adjustment. And they are beefier heavier than the stockers so there is no flexing.

ah I see... I guess the whiteline camber kit isn't enough? sorry but looking at the Cusco parts you put in (strut bars), it looks like you're doing it for looks.

TuxedoCartman 08-17-2012 06:08 PM

Wow... lot of hatred coming from a couple of members who don't even seem to drive an Z?6 car.

Personally, I've got the front strut-tower brace w/ BCS, and a full set of PowerBraces on my FR-S. Yes, they really changed the character of the car (for the better), and yes they are quality pieces. I can't speak to the quality of their coilovers, as I've never owned any of theirs. But the quality of the parts I have used of theirs *is* top notch.

shinjiro n 08-17-2012 06:21 PM

Cusco coilovers are very good pieces. Their dampers are, with a few exceptions, application specific (not just the same shock with a million levels of adjustment used on every kit) and the rango of adjustment is usually very good. Build quality is also very good and their damper internals are sourced from Showa. MSRP prices tend to be on the high side, but if you look around enough you can still get really good deals on their stuff as they offer great pricing structures to dealers.

The front strut bar should actually help since the FR-S uses front strut suspension. But this is just my speculation.

The front strut-bar does help. Dismissing it as just a "show piece" is troll guy being a troll.

You would be wrong again man, when i got my camber arms the whiteline kit was not available. The cusco arms not only add rear camber adjustment but they stiffen up the rear suspension a bit, since i like my cars to have a tendency to lightly oversteer you would imagine how important this would be. If you look at the difference between the cusco and the stock one you can see the metal in the cusco is thicker and the walls are connected therefore eliminating unnecessary flex plus the bushings are stiffer its a heavier piece so those interested in loosing weight these are not for you.

As far as the strut bars, i added them after going on my second track day and watching my dash grill popping out during cornering. I dont know if they helped or not but my speaker dash has not popped again at the track after adding these. If you go into my build thread i comment somewhere on that issue. For those of you who wonder how much flex the car has do a little test, put your index finger between the door and dash and take a corner carefully you will se how it bites your finger meaning there is flex.
