E85 Stats
Being it is now 2022 and about 10 years since these cars first came out, I'm curious if we can all share your current vehicle mileage and how many of it were running on E85 fuel. Here is mine:
Year: 2017 Mileage: 42,000 miles E85: 19,800 miles Also, does anyone else notice that there is less low end grunt/torque on e85 compared to gas? Or is it just me. I am using off the shelf OFT tunes. |

Mileage: 120,500 miles E85: >30,000 miles No issues with E85. Oil analyses have always come back good. Going to do another spark plug change soon, and will get an idea of what they look like compared to full 91. E85 has better throttle response and low end torque compared to 91. Flex fuel tuned on Ecutek |
Pretty early for me
2016 MY15 50000kms 12000kms on e85. Found out the importance of e85 quality the other day. I’ve always filled up at the same station but had to fill up at another station (still under the same brand). That e85 quality made the car feel extremely sluggish and exhaust sound a lot louder. As soon as I refilled 3/4 of a tank at my usual station my ride quality went back to normal |
Less torque?
Why are you using e85 if that's the case? 2017 toyota 86 60k miles using e85 for approx 2.5 years 35k miles. Half of that full e85 on oft, half on ecutek flexfuel. |
I saw better low end torque on E85.

Unless your tune is not well optimized, it may be an odd feel you have for the way the car now accelerates. One of the things I noticed is when I'm not running E85, The pull post 3.5-4K RPM is very strong and really makes the car feel like it's coming alive. This sensation kind of goes away when I'm running on ethanol. I think much of this is due to the change of the curve, with the lower end torque actually being quite a bit stronger, making the overall torque more even. This "evenness" doesn't give the stronger pull sensation, but rather a more simple acceleration feeling. Regardless, the car is much quicker throughout the full rev range on E85, but the feel of acceleration differs for sure and in some way it bugs me a little too. When going back to 93, I enjoy the feel of the pull post 3.5K RPM. E85 just doesn't have that same feeling as it is already pulling pretty good from lower RPM's. That's just my thought on that. Again, it may also be that your tune isn't quite up to par, and of course, your tune could be optimized differently in general. I'm not too familiar with how well OFT's tune is on E85, but judging by the dyno pulls I've seen from OFT, it seems pretty good. |

E85 probably does pull harder at lower rpms, but for some reason gas feels like it has more grunt from a stop to me. Could be because E85 tune is smoother giving me the impression that it is not pulling as hard. Going to test it again on my next tank. I'm also assuming OFT tunes are geared towards UEL headers, which could explain what I feel since I have Tomei EL headers. Might consider ecutek if it wasn't for California's new law that requires stock tune for SMOG.:mad0260: |

For me after switching to e85 I noticed my exhaust was a lot more subdue. Sounded smoother compared to gas which would burble and sound louder. I’m fully catless at the moment yet I still remember being more cautious of how loud my car was (when avoiding police) when I was on gas with my stock front pipe. Even if I rev up to 5k and let off I get no burbles |

Hello everyone,
I’m the second owner of the 2014 BRZ and bought it at 70k. Before me it was only run on 91; however, I switched to corn at 72k and ran it exclusively on the OFT Stage2+e85 map (no flex fuel). I did not notice any power losses and was able to take the car to official drag races down at Race Legal in Qualcomm Stadium; although I can’t remember my specific time, I did win 1st place street stock (I beat a V6 mustang by the smallest margin possible). At roughly 87k I added a sprintex supercharger and went with an ecutek flex tune from Mike over at Moto-East/Xero Limit; I still haven’t ran 91 as I’ve only been on e85 and I am now at 118k and going. If it helps, I change my oil (Schaffers) every 3k and switch between 0w20 in the winter/colder months and 0w40 in the summer/hotter months; I occasionally (like once a month if I remember) run a serving of the lucas oil e85 conditioner/stabilizer to hopefully prevent the fuel system from being gummed up as some people claim may happen. The vehicle is used for everything if anyone is curious (daily, track, autocross) To summarize: 72k on 91 15k on e85 NA 31K on e85 boosted Total: 118k on stock block with 72k on 91 and 46k on e85 I have attached the link for the product I use https://www.autozone.com/fuel-and-en...E&gclsrc=aw.ds |
Just curious, has anyone running flex fuel with forced induction in a CARB-compliant state successfully passed emissions?

2014. 55,000 miles. About 15,000 on E85. Borla header, Berk free-flow cat front pipe, Phantom electric supercharger (Switched off right now till I can find the boost leak.) Strong, linear pull through the full torque range. Significant improvement over stock.
