Toyota GR GT3 Concept

I like the look of that profile, a lot...

All I see is a Mercedes AMG GT3

I see a little of the back end of a Porsche 911 or AMG GT, and there is something classic in the proportions like old sport coupes.

Getting a OG GT vibe from that side profile.

Rotary return to lemans? 911 GT3/NSX fighter? |

Pretty nice looking. Too bad its not likely to see production beyond being a GT3 race car.
I am noticing that theres alot of the Lexus EV design language in it though (assuming that is the future lexus design language)....The front grille kind of mimics the EV generation "spindle grille" shape the future lexus cars are gonna have. The rear looks like a BMW Z8 with LFA underlight cooling vents. Makes you think it might be related to that Lexus EV sports car they had. |
I liked it better as a shadowy silhouette...

The stunning Toyota GR GT3 Concept gives us hope that the RX-Vision will be built
|
Oh... This being a Mazda underneath is very interesting. Perhaps we could see a version of Mazda's upcoming I-6 paired with a hybrid system. Although it would likely cost north of 100K if homologated for the road. I wouldn't expect a rotary for the road, but who knows.

So according to one YTer who speaks Japanese, Akio Toyoda was saying in a press conference the GR GT3 is all new and not shared with any other car… but this has to be a shared platform with the potential RX, right? The dimensions and profile are simply too close for them not to be related somehow.
Edit - also, what is with people saying this is a potential new Supra or Celica? It seems obvious to me this is far above those, if anything the road going version is most likely to be called the ‘Toyota GR GT (or GT3)’ in honour of the original 2000GT. |

That's probably what he means, rather than it not being shared with other concepts. |

Also seems like Akio is more excited for the in-house builds than the collabs lately |

Now its "Toyota doesnt make its own sports cars!" I bet the next one is "Toyota is overcharging for its in house sports cars! and us mere mortals cannot afford it!!!" or "Toyota is doing <iconic Toyota car nameplate> all wrong!" Theres also the favorite of EV snobs: "Toyota is well known to be anti-EV's! they're going to fall so far behind the times and I cant wait until their unethical oil sucking company goes bankrupt! when everyone has gone EV and Toyota has no one left to sell gasoline cars to!" |
Quote:
I mean, what the hell does Toyota know? All they've done is become the largest automaker (depending on when you're looking) with high sales across multiple continents, multiple environments with a variety of different infrastructure.... |

While it's clearly a concept, Akio does talk about wanting to make a car that wins in motorsport and then making it into a production car at 1:08. So you never know. The end of the video does also mention "customer motorsports." So I wonder if this might be something along the lines of Porsche's cup cars, made by Toyota and sold to racing teams, with a production car to come down the line. |
Pretty unimaginative wheels for a concept

Oh and they better make sure they get early ones out to the aftermarket well ahead of time so that people can change every single design aspect of the car before they even buy it! |

That said, it is a motorsports concept. There aren't that many wheel designs in motorsports. Physics simply doesn't allow for it if one's goal is to win. And I'm alright with that in this case. |

I don't mean this as a negative, but that front end reminds me of the Gen 10 Civic Type R (shape of the headlights and grille).

And I am eternally-thankful for that. |
