Weird Sound From Clutch
Clutch making noise from underneath car when turned off, does not sound like throwout bearing (gravel in jar) but sounds more like a creaky door hinge. What could it be and what would you recommend I do? Car has just over 22k miles and I am pretty good with taking care of it and not abusing it (a few spirited drives here and there but I average 32 MPG highway and this is my daily). 2017 86 by the way so still under powertrain/drivetrain warranty. I have attached an Imgur link with a video clip of the sound and my clutch pedal if it helps. Thank you I really do appreciate the feedback!

I would start by greasing the clutch fork. My 86 did/does this. Went away with some grease, but will come back and need to be relubed.
Pretty simple process, @Ultramaroon I recall had a post with step by step guide. |

Did you experience a similar sound?

lol. Yes yes I am.

Well, then, welcome to the gang. -
Iffen greasing up the clutch fork don't quiet it down, you might try giving that spring up under the clutch linkage a shot of silicone spray (or coal oil - since it sounds like a rusty back screen door spring on a hot summer night. :iono: |
The clutch linkage? Can you post a photo if where this spring is? And thank you all. My main concern is that I really hope this isn’t the throwout bearing since that would either cost me hella money or half the money (need to buy my own set of tools since I just moved) and hella time.

throwout bearings don't really make noise when the motors off. they like to make a racket when the motors running and forcing them into service against their will.
they're more like a jerry springer episode. they don't fall apart when everything is calm and peaceful. they start throwing chairs from the edge of the stage while everyone's focused on the main event. |

Now, the screen door sound thing came from my friend Bubba. Yes, his single-wide mobile home has a screen door - ;) I have never seen that spring myself ...... because, if I ever were to get my head under the dash, someone would have to call for a "jaws of life" to get me out. :iono: |

Thanks! Mine sounds like a really bad creaky door hinge tho vs a squeak you have. Tho I gad that exact squeak when I first got the car. Guess it must have gotten worse over time. Did you lubricate the slave cylinder or the clutch fork pivot inside the transmission through the dust cover?

I greased the fork pivot under the dust boot, and also did the slave as I was already in the area. Lucas red and tacky or something that designed for heat and heavy use. |
