Explain. Explain how it is stupid for them to want USDM spec and "smart" for us to want JDM spec.

igorot 08-16-2012 03:51 AM

The difference of wanting to go to jdm spec is because thats the intended version imo. But heres an idea for you frs guys, maybe start a trade with others for airbags and badges

but there will never be a RHD FRS

at least there is a LHD 86 so rebadging would be ok

Reflex 08-16-2012 04:05 AM

Lol.. can I just trade badges with them so I don't have to buy a new set?

20valvewynn83 08-16-2012 04:48 AM

Damn that airbag trade sounds great I wish I can somehow find someone to trade

FlipFRS 08-16-2012 05:14 AM

anybody wanna trade their jdm headlights too?? :)

Mari0 08-16-2012 07:00 AM

We all want what we don't have (:

thermobox 08-16-2012 07:08 AM

You always want what you don't have or don't want what you do have.

I have an STi, I want to go wingless.
I have a WRX, I want a huge wing.

I have a BRZ Ltd, I want to go wingless.
I have a FR-S, I want a huge wing.

It's simple human nature.

The worst "craze" that blew up over there (Japan) was the beginning of the SpoCom movement. They were copying the worst of the worst ricers over here because they thought we all were like that.
I'm talkin the altezza tails, fender gills, neon whatever, etc. It was pretty bad.

I think it's pretty cool to see them putting on the Scion gear. There will prolly be a lot less of them than the kids over here swapping to Toyota gear.

I agree. We need to protect the honor and integrity of this Subaru. I can't believe we're letting people put Scion badges on the Subaru like that. It's just crazy.

I guess everyone wants what they don't have.

Not surprised as Japanese are crazy for USDM such as the Mustang or Corvette. FR-S owners who keep their badges can say they are more JDM than a Toyota-badged FR-S because Scion badges are the JDM trend.

..or the 98% of FR-S owners who have never even considered the badges a problem in any way can just carry on as normal.

@Trojan_SC should be happy there is a market for this

Neziah 08-16-2012 12:53 PM

That's it, I'm re-badging my FR-S to a Subaru! Most of the parts say Subaru on them anywise. LOLOL

HunterGreene 08-16-2012 12:54 PM

I think I'll just throw everyone off and badge mine a Nissan.

rice_classic 08-16-2012 01:00 PM

Toyota or Scion badges?! That's stupid! I put Lexus badges on my FRS.

That's right folks, I have the first USDM Lexus FR-S. I might even re-arrange the letters and have the first S-FR!

Kimsey47 08-16-2012 01:53 PM

Still waiting for a Scion owner to put a Subaru badge on!

MVJ1975 08-16-2012 02:02 PM

I think it's neat, actually. Part of the fun of owning the 86 is making it ours, something Toyota highly encourages in Japan. The Scion badges are interesting and different to them, the same way the Toyota badges are to us.

RRnold 08-16-2012 02:07 PM

You know Japan loves US culture just as much as import car enthusiasts love anything JDM. It's human nature; want what you can't have.

Japanese guy dressed as a vato rocking a Mexican flag!

So what you're saying is that Japan loves Mexican culture.

Ask and I shall Wikipedia it for you:

Quote:

A lowrider is a style of car originated by Chicano communities. Lowriders sit lower to the ground than most other cars. Many lowriders have their suspension systems modified (with hydraulic suspension) so that their ride can change height at the flip of a switch. Lowriders are commonly classic cars from the 1950s (when lowriding began). However, large numbers of 1940s and 1960s model cars are also modified; to a lesser degree newer vehicles are also modified. The word is also used to refer to those who drive or own such cars.

You're damn right son!!! Looks like I gotta find a buyer for my Scion airbag, wheel caps, floor mats, and key covers lol. Maybe someone will trade me tail lights!!! Woo!

But someone already said it, it's not stupid or weird. They (Japanese) want what they don't have. Where we want to return our vehicles to there intended glory, they want to be different. Makes sense.

At least now you all know what you can do with your old Scion badges! Hey, I've got a better idea, let's all just swap cars! I'll buy an FR-S and trade someone in Japan for an 86 GT Limited!

No mames guey! :bellyroll::bellyroll:

Growing up in SoCal and seeing the Lowrider movement in Japan spread like wildfire is hilarious to me. :bellyroll: So seeing a JDM GT86 converted to a FR-S doesn't surprise me one bit.
