White GT 86 Manual - delivery 31/08/2012 Available [NSW]

Good day gents,

Due to my personal circumstances, I now have to cancel my order with Windsor Toyota, NSW.

I am talking to them about cancelling my order at the moment, but just in case they play hard ball, I also going to advertise the car here. You will be picking up a brand new vehicle.

The order was for the vehicle to be supplied unregistered, so the price will be $32,300.

Alternatively, I can put you in contact with the salesmen and you can take it over from me then.

Don't want to sound like a salesman, but this is a rare opportunity to get a car in two weeks time!

davey90 08-16-2012 01:47 AM

:O you're walking away now? your 86 is nearly here!

czar07 08-16-2012 02:00 AM

id snap it up but i want a GTS :(

Loki556 08-16-2012 02:20 AM

To all those concerned about my mental state - I am still getting an 86 :)

It just won't be from NSW.

because no one wants a GT. Countless phone calls to dealers has resulted in 90% offering me an auto GT. FARK THAT

Loki556 08-16-2012 07:01 AM

Czar7, I've had 4 people asking about the car in a few hours after posting this thread. You might want to change that to "no-one wants an AUTO GT".

czar07 08-16-2012 09:22 AM

nah yours is a manual. All the 86s on car sales are auto GT, which makes me think that they are yard stock

click_lenny 08-16-2012 10:46 AM

And the shitty part is whenever u call up as they advertised is GTS AT/MT, they would told u it is sold, what about a GT? did they advertised GTS as they only have GT?

Loki556 08-16-2012 08:16 PM

Waiting on the dealer to give me a call back - will respond to PM's once I know whats happening.

Getting a GT over a GTS was the best decision I ever made.

All the main stuff that comes in the GTS I have in my old car and I never used. Also, I much prefer the interior of the GT, as it's all black, no fake carbon fibre and tacky silver pieces everywhere.

So it wasn't worth the extra 8k (taking into account loan repayments), and really, once you start driving it, that's all you really care about.

Loki556 08-16-2012 09:05 PM

Also, if you are thinkiing of keeping the car for a while (lets say at least 5 years) the GTS has a lot more pieces that are likely to go wrong and will cost you more to keep.

GT is a purer car - just needs better tyres/wheels.

Its pretty much exactly what was missing for a long time - a cheap, relatively basic, fun to drive rear wheel drive car.

GTS dilutes the formula, imho.

Fair enough man. I would miss the HIDs and DRL because they really do make a massive difference. Nav is always helpful when visiting an area you dont know, and speed readout is brilliant for keeping to the speed limits

czar07 08-16-2012 09:06 PM

Plus IMO GT wont hold its value as good as a GTS

Loki556 08-16-2012 09:13 PM

Generally speaking, because of cheaper starting price, base models lose less to depreciation than higher spec ones.

so in three years time, GTS might be worth 1k more than GT, but you paid 5k more for it to start with.

Maybe a bit more than 1k... But you have a point.

Im keeping the car for a long while anyway, so wont really affect me.

Hoping to pass it down to my son in 14 years. LOL... Im sure I will break it by then.

Loki556 08-16-2012 09:29 PM

I kinda have the same dream - shame I don't have any kids yet!!!

I have HID's waiting to be installed ;) an easy aftermarket fix, and on top of that i wont have silly washers that spray all over my bonnet if i want to clean my windscreen with my lights on.

Personally i think the DRL's in the 86 look terrible.... much prefer the BRZ style. + i have some idea's for that grill on places to mount aftermarket.

i have an excellent Garmin Nav unit already and that actually includes digital speed read out (which is accurate REAL speed as opposed to drive by wire +/- 5%) on the main map screen or an enlarged view. Which leaves me free to upgrade the headunit to something decent with pre-outs for a sub.

There just isnt enough in a GTS to justify the asking price given the mechanicals are essentially the same, IMO you're just paying for gadgets and cloth both of which are easily update able.

That is if the value of GT will hold its value. Put in the ecuation the fact that the GTS is and will be a sought after vehicle hence the higher demand. In 5 years time the waiting time will catch up with the demand but if they release an upspec GTS86 then here we go again. It is hard to say but few thing are clear:
1. GTS will hold its value better than the GT. (based on demand and supply, etc)
2. in 5 years time you will sell a GTS at the price of a GT with the added amount that the extra parts will worth at the time.
e.g. GT is worth now around 33.5k and the GTS 39.5 K. Extra 6k, right? In 5 years time GT 27-29k and a GTS 30-33K. The upgrades on the GTS will not be worth as much then. To make it clearer lets say you have a brand new GT that you will upspec to GTS specs. And lets say you spent 3.5-4k on them. Now, if you want to sell the car NOW you will want 33.5k + approx 4k you've just spent on it, right? In 5 years time, you will sell the car at the: value of the car at the time (taking in consideration milage, condition, etc) + 50% - 75% of the value of your upgrades. That's unless you dont bring it back to stock and sell the parts separately.

czar07 08-16-2012 10:05 PM

^^ thats all pretty true. I guess i could always upgrade the head unit with a touch screen gps etc etc.

Loki556 08-16-2012 10:06 PM

Can I please ask everyone to stop the GT vs GTS discussion in this thread.

Thank you for your understanding.

About to send some PM's.

Loki556 08-17-2012 12:36 AM

I just spoke to the dealer. As the order is so close to being delivered, they don't want to change to another customer so the buyer will have to buy the car directly from me.

I am working out how best to do that at the moment.

Loki556 08-20-2012 12:32 AM

Car has been sold pending payment to the most pro-active buyer.

Loki556 08-27-2012 11:33 PM

Good day folks - the last customer has fallen through so the car is for sale again.

Please only PM if you are 100% sure you would like to purchase the car and have your deposit ready ($1000) and finance sorted.

Cheers

CSB mate, you live in a different country + this is a private sale. I would ask for a deposit too.. In fact, EVERY privately sold car I have ever purchased there have been deposits involved. And good luck coming to australia and ordering a car in such high demand without a deposit ;-)

^^^^ This is why I would buy the GTS. I couldnt be f'd explaining it over and over.

Nafe 08-28-2012 08:35 PM

Ok guys, awesome, we all get the picture.... Some people prefer the GT some people prefer the GTS.... CSB!
None of which has anything to do with the OP selling his car!!
If you want to compare models/argue/discuss/do whatever in regards to why you prefer/bought the model you did, PLEASE start a new topic, even though the horse has been flogged to death already!!
Someone is trying to move on a car AND that will help someone get into one sooner, so how about keeping it on topic from now on??

wont they be paying a significant premium to purchase because they will have to stamp duty on transfer or are you selling unregistered?

JDMSushi 08-29-2012 02:46 AM

He's selling it unregistered. He requested this from dealership.

Your application of 'CSB' is frustrating.

Way to stay on topic *thumbs up*
Not sure why you would feel the need to quote that. Would you prefer I type "Cool story bro" in full?
