F3dzo 08-15-2012 10:31 PM

Please post a side view stock if you took the pic

That drop looks better than I expected, I'm installing mine tomorrow can't wait!

oldskule 08-15-2012 11:37 PM

Perfect ride height imo

JoeBoxer 08-16-2012 01:00 AM

Did you need camber bolts or anything to get it aligned?

I think I might need some for the black, getting some wheels first then getting aligned and all that good stuff

What you mean?

You know how you took a whole pic of the cat after it was lowered. I dont know if you took a pic of it like that before you lowered it. I know you took before pics but up close...

Is it required to have camber bolts when you lower this car? How do they work

86_ZN6 08-16-2012 01:14 AM

Perfect drop!

But without the proper shocks, these will just blow your oem shocks in about 4000 miles just like what the sportlines did

Thanks, I read that tread, I think it was more of an install error then the springs themselves... but Ill take one for the team and let you guys know how things go

That explains why the suspension seems harsh after the installed. In most cases, the car seems to be critically damped with no oscillation.

While on some very bumpy roads, the tire seems to be not in contact with the road because the springs shorten the suspension travel.

What do you mean? Is it worth the trouble to lower on just springs and stocks? Or should someone just go directly to coilovers?

ERZperformance 08-16-2012 07:01 PM

Looks great I'm sure the ride is good also.

I was thinking about getting coils as well, but decided on springs. Not because im cheap or anything but simply because im not going to jack up the car every other day and change the ride height.

That was an installation error...

Neither Sportlines or S-Tech will blow your oem shocks in 4000 miles.

Unless of course they are installed poorly...

where'd you buy them and how much? PM if you want! LOOKS GOOD! give us a review after you have it on for a while!

wu_dot_com 08-19-2012 08:10 PM

Btw for those who have STech, did you also notice a negative camber on the back wheel? I just notice it yesterday

Yes negative camber, I'm still trying to do some research what I can do to fix that camber. Uneven tire wear will seriously piss me off... Other than that the ride is acceptable. Nothing like coilovers but it'll do for now to get rid of that ugly gap. What I don't like is that now that it's lowered, everyone in Miami wants to street race. Wtf?

switchlanez 08-19-2012 08:45 PM

^Agree on the wheel gap thing.

The stock setup already feels more slammed with less ground clearance than any other car I've lowered in the past so I'm figuring out a way reduce that ugly wheel gap without hurting ground clearance. I might go for a super mild drop < 1" and taller 225/45 tires to fill in the wheel gap a few mm and raise the car up a few mm closer to stock ground clearance. This ought to work great if you have a lip kit you don't want to scrape everywhere you go.

F3dzo 08-19-2012 08:57 PM

I wish a mfr would design a damper with a shorter shaft and casing in order to get of rid of that ugly ass gap :/

exactly what im trying to do as well!

Bonburner 08-19-2012 10:12 PM

get 18" rims and slap some tires - thats 1 inch in diameter - should kill a lot of wheel gap .. also it will raise your car by half an inch so you can drop it if the gap is still too big! :D
WIN WIN :D
loss is money though :L
But that's to be expected haha

but yeah that looks fresh

Seems like a good drop to me with the s-tech... I want coilovers in the near future.

Rawdog 08-20-2012 04:22 PM

So can we get away with no camber adjusment in the front and just the rear or BOTH front and rear need some kind of camber adjustment?

Rawdog 08-22-2012 10:56 PM

Is this before or after settling? Update?

Suspension Review: tein s-tech springs

Hello everyone.

I'm pretty much not into all the technical numbers, springs rates and suspension travel details. All I know is how a car should handle based on it being a daily driver.

The springs give a decent drop with about a fingers width gap left between the fender and tire. Pretty low considering it used to be 3 fingers.

Any how I followed the installation sheet and cut a ring off the bumpstops ... It said to remove two but the stock bumpstop has only three rings. I don't bottom out at all driving different types of roads.

I do know the suspension travel has been greatly compromised. That would explain the slight lowered car "bounce" i use the term loosely.

Considering i used the stock dampers, the ride is close to stock but tighter.

If your on a long term low budget I don't recommend these springs on stock dampers.

If its the look you want and don't care about your dampers to have a shortened life then go for it.

I suspect my dampers won't last a total of 6 months with the amount driving i do. It's a lot (7,500miles bought it 5-27-12)

I will be getting coilovers to replace just a spring upgrade. I'd enjoy more travel and would definately love being able to adjust my suspension for various activities. (track time, car shows, driving to work, taking my wife out to dinner with out ruining her kidneys from the rough ride in the car.) lol so theres my 2 cents. Joe shmoe any town USA.

How bouncy is it? Is it borderline uncomfortable? I have H Tech's on the way which are a lot milder drop (.9" front, .7" rear). I wanted to get the RaceComp yellows but i got the Teins for about half the price so i couldn't pass it up.

F3dzo 08-25-2012 08:43 PM

It's borderline drive my wife's rav4 to get groceries... I like the ride on the highway on real smooth roads. I couldn't drive this car in shitty asphalt or crappy roads. I'll loose it.

I can't wait to track it, must be a dream.

JoeBoxer 08-25-2012 09:03 PM

Just looked and the rear spring rate is pretty high and with that drop it probably loses a lot of shock travel. I hope my H Techs are a little smoother I got a new Nitto tire that's supposed to have a nice ride too.
