Anyone else have a lot of dents on the radiator?

Did an oil change yesterday... I got to look at the car a lot closer than usual... I don't know if its my ocd about my brz or if I really should be concerned, but I noticed that the radiator had about 50ish small small dents in the fins, pretty clearly from rocks maybe very large bugs etc. Should I be concerned? Anyone else notice their radiator is taking a beating? Oh yah I have just over 4k on the odometer.

if it doesnt show any sign of leak, then i wouldnt worry about it unless it's really huge dent might cause leak in future

That is allot of dents for a few miles.

Get a radiator comb and fix them.

That is ugly for so few miles. I wonder how hard it would be to attach a screen in front of that.

hmmm many dents but they are small and wont affect. dont worry

yah... sad story I guess. On the positive, good thing i have a clear bra. If all that was hitting the radiator then... you get the idea. I just looked up how much a new radiator costs, only $170! I will hold off for now though, maybe in a year or two i'll do it.

Just checked and I only have one small dent on my FR-S radiator.

do you follow closely or drive on beat up roads a lot? If so, might want to increase your following distances, you're picking up a lot of debris.

That's the A/C condensor, not the raditator....

Looks a lot like my old stock EVO intercooler, plenty of dents. Unfortunately it's mostly luck.

i live in san jose as well and commute to cupertino and sunnyvale... i barely have any of those dents

Norcalmav23 08-16-2012 03:47 PM

damn... I commute from San Jose to San Ramon 5 days a week... Its the stupid 680 lol. And I feel pretty dumb, totally thought that was a radiator. Thanks for the help guys

That looks like nothing, whether AC condenser or radiator. Don't sweat it.

Makes difference if rad or AC condenser, lol .... If the rad got dents while still being blocked by condenser, we got problems.... Just saying.

Anyway, the fins can get bent back gently. Insurance company made my shop fix a few because they didn't want to cover new part.
