I blame not stopping in time on the factory prius tires ^_^

I just hope my insurance doesn't equate that the BRZ and FRS are the same car...

Everyone I've talked to that got quotes for both said the BRZ was higher than the FR-S. :iono:

Mainly because it costs more. Driving record aside I believe MSRP is the biggest determining factor for insurance premiums. Higher MSRP equals higher premiums.

I'm sure the number of BRZs that have been in accidents is roughly equal to the number of FRS', as reported on this forum, even before adjusting for the lower number of BRZs on the street.

Turbowned 08-15-2012 10:16 AM

That suuuuucks!!

Progressive quoted me the same rate for both FR-S and BRZ, FYI.

I was quoted by engine size, seating capacity, since the car wasn't in their system yet. I'm not sure if they factored in buying price at all but it was only $6 more a year than my Kia Forte lol :)

I would completely disagree

:word: with the amount of both on the road, but it sure seems like the FRS post have at least one of these a week. With about a 1:4/1:5 ratio of BRZ's to FRS on the road it seems really frequent to me that we keep seeing a damaged FRS on here! Either way it sucks seeing these cars like this...

robo_robb 08-15-2012 11:25 AM

There are 2.8 times as many FR-S's than BRZ's on American roads. Spoiler alert: We are going to see roughly 3 times as many wrecked FR-S's than BRZ's.

For the above reason, it would be ignorant to assume that since we see more FR-S wrecks it means FR-S drivers are less competent. Both cars have virtually the same customer; $25-30k sports cars tend to attract the same crowd.

To some of our BRZ brothers who like to pretend they sit on high-horses: I'm sorry, I must have missed the part where the Subaru badge became synonymous with maturity. There's a reason why WRX's have some of the highest insurance rates around...

Edit: I love my BRZ brethren, heck we have the same cars, and for most of us it came down to which model was more easily accessible to purchase. For me it was the FR-S, but I could have easily purchased a BRZ if my local dealer had them. But I have noticed a slight air of superiority from a small number of BRZers. I don't mean to sound like all BRZ owners are arrogant, they certainly aren't. Good day sirs.

Is it? I've only read 2 BRZ wrecks vs this one & other FR-S wrecks are iirc 3~4

There might be one more that I can't think of, but overall, now that I think about it, FR-S accident numbers are higher, but I think they're equal as a percentage of unit sold since there are more FR-S on the road.

wbradley 08-15-2012 11:39 AM

Meh...just needs a bit of a touch up..

Great points, hence my call on more frs being smashed! But it is not that the six starts indicate maturity (much more mature line up of cars, yet used wrx attracting the worst kind of ricers) but that Scion is so closely associated with *hold your breath* immaturity *gasp* that makes me lose faith in this twins longevity.

No, as robo robb stated 2.8 FRS =1 BRZ. And + scion demographics.

:cry:I liked how this turned into a post with a damaged FR-S in it, to a ego battle between FR-S owners and the nonexistent BRZ owners on the thread.

From what ive seen the only people who talk about BRZ owners as if they are better than FR-S owners are people that own FR-S's. Never see anyone with a BRZ talking down, or talking bad about FR-S owners ever including myself. But I guess you guys get butthurt on the internet easily :iono:

jarviz 08-15-2012 01:24 PM

I'm more curious as to exactly how these cars have gotten that type of damage, minus the blue one that got hit by the jeep since I read that thread. These don't like normal fender benders either...

I would like the record to show that I wear my stereotypical Scion demographic on my sleeve. BRZ owners don't have to look down on me because I look down on myself. :D

In all seriousness though, has anyone actually received any flak from BRZ owners? I know a Subaru guy who trash talks the Scion but he's also generally accepted as an all-around douche and could never bring himself to buy a "slow" car like the BRZ or FR-S anyway. Can't we all just get along? For all intents and purposes, it's the same damn car!

Kimsey47 08-15-2012 01:29 PM

Sorry, I didn't know I was in the FRS forum... Let me get myself and my high horse back where I belong! "BRZ Away!" Not trying to feed trolls between the FRS and BRZ... Same car! BUT, just like the rest of North American's I feel the chip on my shoulder of that damn Scion badge on the car. In the end though it is the same car getting crashed no matter what badge hits the pole first etc. I wasn't trying to say that anyone is inmature on either front except that I haven't saw the BRZ crashes reported on here as much that's all...

Every time I tell my dad, who works for Toyota, about these wrecks he always gets the biggest smile on his face and says, "We're going to sell a lot of replacement parts for this car." He doesn't have anything against them, nor does he enjoy the wrecks. He's just excited about more profit for Toyota >_>

I think its funny and entertaining reading these forums there are a handful of FRS owners that, insinuate that BRZ owners look down on them for whatever reason. Yet ive never seen a post or thread on the forums that said anything similar.

Same Team jerks!

MannyO 08-15-2012 01:49 PM

Just due to the fact that less BRZ's are sold than FR-S makes it harder to find them crashed.

That navy blue one looks almost like the one used in the crash test video.

I really want to know what idiot tore the door off his mustang in the background there lol

eriktherod 08-15-2012 02:24 PM

It really sucks for that silver BRZ.. the only tree within a good several hundred feet.. and he hits it dead on (unless that front damage was from the ditch grade).

Could've just been damaged and the body shop removed it in preparation for the new one.
