Don't count on it.

Mr.Jay 08-14-2012 09:14 PM

not with the host they have now

dem00n 08-14-2012 09:21 PM

I don't watch the show much but the only guy i kinda like is the one who use to race cars since he has an idea about cars while the other two guys seem like they just go the memo about the cars they are driving two hours before filming. Though like many say, UK's top gear first two seasons were pretty bland as well.

dhpinoy 08-14-2012 09:26 PM

That's true, but I was really mad when on-camera-audiences.com/shows was supposed to hit me up when the show is taping so I could be there in person. lol You guys should hit that up too, they do other shows also.

But, I only have respect for Tanner Foust because he is a professional at his job but for the other two, they bring the entertainment and the laughter for the show.

Mr.Jay 08-14-2012 09:28 PM

tanner is the only guy that belongs there. the other two do nothing for the show and i don't think there any chemist among them add well

MmmHamSandwich 08-14-2012 09:28 PM

*Sigh*

Fine, I'll watch it just this once...

pyro530 08-14-2012 09:47 PM

Sweet, on in 15 min, DVR set. Thank you.

wheelhaus 08-14-2012 09:58 PM

HA! Glad I saw this thread. Show starts in 3 minutes, lol

feldy 08-14-2012 10:02 PM

To bad there is no frs tonight. They are racing cop cars.

That's what I'm getting. Top Gear USA isn't worth watching all the way through just to see.

Calidrifter 08-14-2012 10:26 PM

The only real Top Gear is UK.

US fucked up by getting rid of Adam Corola

NemesisPrime909 08-14-2012 10:28 PM

just saw it, and all it did was show the history behind the 86 badge on the fenders. nothing we didn't already know, pretty cool though.

I am however expecting the demand for the FRS to go up a tad

When they are still doing cop car stuff?

yeah they still are...

little bit entertaining

dem00n 08-14-2012 10:32 PM

Yeah, it was just a small 30 second clip with some history... disappointing now.

wheelhaus 08-14-2012 10:33 PM

I am disappoint.

Subie 08-14-2012 10:35 PM

It sounds like Top Gear USA lived up to my expectations once more.

feldy 08-14-2012 10:35 PM

Was it before the tear gas?

What's really disappointing is the sheer number of commercial breaks

due to the "unique" way the BBC is funded TGUK will run for 60-80mins whereas, ours will run for about 40-45mins due to commercials.

so they don't really get much time to talk about anything.

i believe they could succeed if they just had the time.

as of now they due the challenges, the car reviews suffer because of this, so I'm not expecting the FR-S to appear anytime soon unless it involves a challenge.

I disagree. I find that Tanner is the least entertaining. his cocky attitude towards the others irritates me.

the other two are more entertaining because the are as the UK boys will put it, "Ambitious but rubbish!" Tanner is good at racing and the show ultimately suffers because of this.

if we must choose better hosts for the show we need people who do automotive journalism.

I propose Carlos Lago and Chris Harris for starters.

TylerLieberman 08-14-2012 10:51 PM

I didn't see anything...

Top Gear USA has been a disappointment since day one though.

it's improving slowly, there are a bunch of issues, but they're improving

THEY'VE COME A LOOOOOOONG WAY since then

Carlos doesnt have the personality to have that connection that we see in UK top gear, he is perfect at what he does and imho doesn't belong to something like top gear...and where is Chris Harris from? :D

LOL I'm black

the original Stig was Perry McCarthy, who wore a black racing suit before Collins came along with the White suit we recognize today.

The hosts don't have to emulate TGUK (that's an insurmountable task, for anyone), but they have to be at least mildly entertaining. Go on YouTube and search for Chris Harris. I personally enjoyed watching him hoon a GT 86 around a track:

The video where he drove an AMG Mercedes on spares was also very entertaining:

Ah, ok-- I misunderstood your question. What of it? America is a country of immigrants. Give him a relocation bonus and a gun and he can be an American like the rest of us!

Not the point, you know its gotta be an American even though everyone in America is an immigrant. Chris Harris would be pretty fun, maybe will find out one day. Who knows. :iono:

Adam Corolla would make a great host too

quik1987 08-15-2012 12:20 AM

Is that a Toyota or a scion in that picture? Just asking because fog lights

SnapOv3st3r 08-15-2012 12:25 AM

I enjoy and like Top Gear US, just as much as Top Gear UK. Rutledge is funny, I get his humor. Tanner drives his ass off. Adam Ferrara is sorta hit and miss a lot with his material, and seems to be the weak link imo.

Much of what I enjoy about Top Gear US is that it gives history on American Cars as well as all the others. Top Gear UK not so much, with a lot of Anti-American content towards cars. Even if a lot of the US cars are shitty compared to the Italians, Germans, Japanese..etc. I still like to hear about it without the consistent down talk.

A big problem-as its been said so many times already-are the hosts. Tanner is the only one with real driving background. Ive never even heard of these other two clowns.

Carlos lago would be a huge improvement

I will agree on your point about top gear uk though.

could have been my imagination, but wasnt there a Top Gear US before the current one that flopped hard, and Adam Carolla was a host of that?
I could have sworn he did something of the sort....
