What Essentials Do you Keep In Your Car
Inspired by the ECD (Every Day Carry) thread, figured this would bring some interesting results or possibly informative ones that people can pick from to use on their car. Aside from, if applicable, spare tire and lift kit, what essentials do you keep on your car all the time? I'll begin, feel free to post links for the items you have.
1. Quick Detailer 2. Microfiber Towel 3. Oil Rag 3. Sunglasses 4. 12 V adapter for multiple USB connections. 5. OFT Tablet (In case of CEL) 6. Tire shine 7. First Aid Kit 8. Small Mechanics Tool Set (Jumper Cables, Small Wrenches, Tow Straps, Hazard Triangle, Flashlight, etc) 9. 1QT of Engine Oil. |
1. tissues for nose blowing
2. sunglasses 3. umbrella 4. sun shade 5. oil rag Don't have any tools or spare tire. Work is pretty close (18 km) so when I got a flat rear tire, my wife brought me 2 of my summer tires and tools and I just swapped the rears in the work parking lot and when I came home, swapped the other two. Granted it was spring and time to switch to summers anyway. |

Same here, is a short 20 min drive from home to work, I keep most of the things I have mostly out of habit from military, we couldn't go anywhere without having a lifting kit, first aid, and extra additives. So it just stuck. |

I don't keep anything in my car :iono:
|
Everyday? Sunshade and a USB cord?
My wife has like emergency raisins in her glove box, different shoes, a blanket, enough recyclables to purchase an emergency gallon of gas, a dog bowl, and maybe some spare stuff for art activities? |
Right now I've got
- Bottle of ONR detailer - Microfiber towels - foldable lawn chair - Hand sanitizer - Mini battery pack for charging phone. |
-USB stick (need muh tunes!)
-lighter > USB charger adapter to plug my iphone cable in since theres only 1 USB slot in the car. -Pen -extra masks (not needed so much anymore with our province reopened) -sunshade -sunglasses -box of tissues (doesnt fit in any of the storage areas so this so it sits in the back seat...will probably switch to those smaller travel sized ones when i run out) -blanket (also doubles as a sort of towel, its to prevent the dirty stuff from muddying up the seats) -hand sanitizer |

Chicken and rice. You just never know.

Well if you ever get an engine failure or accident, you can leave the car on rice overnight and it will be fixed the next day. |
Beyond the spare/jumpers.

So true... lol |
Besides what came with the car,
Sunglasses Reading Glasses (lousy 62- year-old eyeballs) Covid Mask (force of habit from the last 16 months) Hand Sanitizer (ditto) Phone Cable (with tan leather outer jacket to match seats!) Tire Gauge (pencil-type, I keep the good one in the garage) Various papers required by law (proof of insurance, registration) Coin holder/dispenser that fills one cupholder A couple of plastic trays with carpet-gripping bottoms that I use to haul groceries in the trunk without them spilling out and sliding around. edited to add: garage door opener! In the winter I'll add a small snow shovel, a windshield scraper/snow brush and rubber floor mats |

Currently carrying:
- 12v powered tire inflator/gauge and flashlight - lug nut key - sunscreen - phone cable - ear plugs (for longer drives) I removed my spare a while back since it doesn’t fit my BBK. I’ve also got a little white FRS toy that someone randomly gave me at the track. Thought that was a cool gesture so I keep it with the car. |
1.Microfiber, paper tissues and quick detailer for bird poops (happens often near my house sadly)
2.Wheel lock key 3.Tire pressure gauge 4.Lightning cable 5.Ecutek Bluetooth dongle (plugged in) 6.Face mask and hand sanitizer (new trend from 2020 huh?) 7.Quart of oil (this actually might be off this list soon after I replaced my oil cooler fittings an lines and became less OCD about oil leakage) 8.First aid kit, fire extinguisher, emergency triangle (this ones are mandatory where I live) Damn that's a lot of crap :bonk: |
1. Face mask
2. Bottle of water 3. Spare chap stick 4. .45 ACP |
lol, if i listed everything, it'd take an entire page!
so i'll summarize. phone charging? covered sun shade? covered stuck? covered broken? covered hurt? covered |

In addition: - Power bank/jump starter - Air compressor than can be powered by the 12v in the car or by that power bank - 50/50 premixed bottle of coolant from the local Subie dealer - Spare bulbs for low beams, high beams, signals and reverse lights. - ~half a roll of those blue paper shop towels |

i started carrying tools when i was more responsible for the rest of the families aging fleet, so i would spontaneously run by pick-n-pull yards for replacement parts when i had time. we've all moved out, and generally upgraded vehicles to models new enough that haven't really dropped into pick-n-pull yards yet, so i need it a lot less than i used to.
|
Sunglasses, comb, air pump, pressure gauge, light, CD's, phone charger, zip ties (they're good for lots of things in a pinch), panel tools (haven't figured out where else to store them), probably more that I'm forgetting about.

Always in my car, in no particular order of importance:
Leatherman Raptor Shears (soon to be mounted in the door pocket so I can find them upside down) Tire gauge Bottled water Caffeine mints Invisible glass Blue paper shop towels Reading glasses OBDII bluetooth adapter Travel trash can (uses standard plastic grocery bags) Insulated cooler bag (I never know when I'll need to buy boudin.) Canvas pencil case (for receipts) Northern Tool back scratcher Lip balm Capsaicin nose spray Hand sanitizer Alka Seltzer Ryobi inflator Ryobi automotive battery charger Kobalt tool kit Harbor Freight breaker bar Spark plug socket (fits the keys to my spline drive lugs) Trunk cargo net Jumper cables My next addition will likely be an Element fire extinguisher. I keep first aid supplies in my computer bag. If you can't tell, I drive a lot, and I'm fucking serious about it. |
