10,000.

10,000 miles on a car doesn't seem like much. 10,000 miles on a car that is just over two months old is...impressive. It's been in my possession for 77 days so that equates to 129 miles per day. Another way to think of it is that this car has been traveling at an average of 5mph, non-stop, since it rolled off the lot.

Not much is new. I think I've figured out what wheels I'm going to put on at some point, which company I'll buy my exhaust from (they will probably have another couple of versions prior to buying one), which intake I'll likely buy, and some nice interior bits. ECU is still up in the air. Ecu Tek seems to be the early leader, but we haven't seen any results from Cobb yet. Either way, lots of miles before the warranty is up (5 more months at this pace!) and plenty of time to review aftermarket parts.

The car is still an absolute blast to drive and I look forward to every drive I have with it no matter how short or long. I'll also add that the forums have been a great place for information, debate (usually ;) ), and inspiration. Can't wait to see what the next year of this car brings for all of us.

Rampage 08-13-2012 03:52 PM

Should be just about broken in by now. Engine should be freed up and getting max stock HP and MPG.

How's she driving?

helloimgil 08-13-2012 04:07 PM

wow!

Jayde 08-13-2012 04:09 PM

And I thought me just passing 3000 this weekend was a lot!!!! Congrats!!!

Tainen 08-13-2012 04:22 PM

Impressive. :)

I've got 3k on mine, and it's not even my daily! hah.

Superhatch 08-13-2012 04:25 PM

I'm still averaging 32.x mpg both on screen and from my fill-up log (app). After 3-4k the car -felt- like it was making more hp. Not sure if this was engine or trans changes, or just me learning how to really drive the car to it's potential. I've done one auto-x, one track day, and my 2nd auto-x will be on the 19th.

The only real piece of advice I have is get this on a track, or at an auto-x. You won't truly appreciate how great the car is until you do that.

2 1/2 months, daily driver here - only 1/10th your mileage! I'll probably drive my car into retirement at this rate (some 30 years away...).

Sounds like you're enjoying your car - and a testament that this can be a long distance commuting car. (in case anyone had doubts)

I'm sure Subaru will be interested in hearing from you as you cross higher mileage points - 50k, 80k, etc - as you'll be surpassing their test car mileage at some point.

I was wondering about what is the highest mileage BRZ/FRS in the world right now. Obviously their test cars have lots more miles than I do, but as far as privately owned I'd guess it's still someone in Japan.

dj_mallu 08-13-2012 04:54 PM

I have a 50 mile commute so 100 miles total. But damn 10k already??!!!

Dave-ROR 08-13-2012 04:56 PM

Wow I'm only at ~4000 after two months! I will be putting about 3000 on between this Thursday and next friday though.

X-Country road trip?

I'm a service tech and we have customers all over NA. Since I've had the car I was tasked with about 4 somewhat medium range trips for work which likely added about 3K of the miles. I probably have 5-6 of those trips a year. I can honestly say that I was as comfortable in this car on my 450m trip to AR as I am in my 1h commute to work. I'm actually rather amazed at how comfortable it is for long trips. On long trips I do wear ear plugs though, a habit I picked up when I used to drive late 80's Civics back from Cali. It really cuts down on fatigue, even in a really quiet car.

tomt5078 08-13-2012 05:50 PM

It's going to take me 14 months to reach 10,000................WOW

Florida to TN/NC, some mountain driving, then Cincinnati for a BBQ, then Mid Ohio for 2 days (ITR Expo HPDE), then Cedar Point, then Cleveland, then Toledo to visit Accelerated again and drink some brews, then back to the carolinas for a bit, then back to Florida..

That will probably take me 2+ years... I'm on the bike so much, the car typically sees less than 5k miles per year. The BRZ may change that...

sbxjap 08-13-2012 06:15 PM

I had my car for over a month and only about 970, lol....

mechaghost 08-13-2012 06:16 PM

damn~

elbachatero1 08-13-2012 06:21 PM

Wow!! lol My commute is 100 miles a day. I'm about to have a month this Thursday and I just passed 2300 miles today.

Sounds epic. I've got a couple friends who hit up the ITR expo every year...always a great time.

Superhatch 08-13-2012 06:30 PM

I know a guy who owns a tire shop here in WI. He had the 2nd FRS in the state...it currently has 93 miles on it. He said that he doesn't want to drive it around until he his custom volks come in. Heh.

Do you find the car as comfortable for commuting as I do?

TouchMyHonda 08-13-2012 06:40 PM

It's definitely more comfortable than what I imagined lol.. Coming from an Infiniti G37 I thought I was going to give up a lot in comfort since I had the softer leather seats. I dont know what it is about these seats or maybe the position but my lower back definitely bothers me less than how I used to feel commuting with the Infiniti.

Nate219BRZ 08-13-2012 07:22 PM

10,000 in a little over 2 months. I was feeling bad about cracking 2k in the second month. Your warranty is almost 1/4 threw in two months. What do you get a new car every 2 years?

pinoyplaya 08-13-2012 11:09 PM

Only 10k? Im already at 75k :(

jk :D

Ninjin 08-14-2012 12:12 AM

I'm looking forward to your post in Feb 2014 when you hit 100k!

=D

On a side note, I rode in an FR-S for the first time at an autocross this weekend. My first thought on getting in the car was, "man these seats are awesome." One mind-blowing run later with a great driver at the wheel and I was still thinking about how awesome the seats were as I got out. It would be really, really hard to justify replacing the stock seats in this car.

I need to do more driving!!!!:burnrubber:

Enemies 08-14-2012 12:56 AM

Geeze. Had my car for 2 months as of tomorrow and about to hit 1600... KM! So, you're pretty much driving it 10x more than me since that's about 1000 miles.

With my luck mine will probably break down first. :(

BugeyedWagon 08-14-2012 01:04 AM

10k is a lot

I just rolled over 5000 miles this weekend. I have had the car since May 30th. My daily commute is about 90 miles round trip.

Wes 08-14-2012 01:15 AM

dam i barely just hit 1000 the other day and i've had my car for exactly 2 months today haha literally driving 10 times as much as me

Lytheum 08-14-2012 01:20 AM

I just hit 3400 and I've had it 5 days shy of 2 months! Commute is about 50 miles a day, but I've been doing lots of extra trips for no reason since I got it.

DaJo 08-14-2012 01:21 AM

Hah, I've got 500 KM, I beat you al....... wait, 10,000 Miles?!?! Holy cr*p! At least we now know our cars will last us up to 10,000 Miles!

Crazy. I put 1000 on mine in about 3 weeks just to break it in but now have about 1800 in about 2.5 months. My commute is only 25 miles round trip.

Dai Lo 09-03-2012 02:25 AM

You got me out beat on mileage. I'm at 6800miles.

What app do you use to track MPG?

Synack 09-03-2012 09:18 PM

You've spent about $1500 in gas alone. You must be rich!
