Is the person/s in charge on banning allowed to let their own positions on politics and religion sway their decisions in here for such decisions?
Is this a "it's a privately owned site so we can do what we want" kind of thing when it comes to those touchy subjects even though the rules
are pretty clear and seemingly are supposed to apply to everyone?

Yes, that is exactly why I'm asking. Everybody should be banned. Or at least play an instrument and be thinking about joining one.

All this "lockdown" craziness is getting to people's heads.. Riots all over the place, the populace venting its anger/frustrations.

Asking because that thread went out of line/is currently out of line and I was banned from the whole offtopic subforum because I made my opinion known on the subject. Some people got real shitty and yet are still in there yamming away. A bunch of posts were deleted from both sides including many of mine that were innocuous but it seems the mod just was picking a side and deleting willy-nilly just to be a ****. All those with one opinion on the subject still remain in there and are free to keep going fearmongering. A couple people are on the other side also and probably about to be silenced as well. Seems there is a moderator in charge of that area with a certain opinion on the subject and took it upon themselves to squash any opinion outside their little box. Nobody is answering for it when I send PMs, no warning, no PM as to what happened, just cut off from it. The whole Covid subject has 100% politics injected into it and it shouldn't be allowed in here in the first place since that is all it's become. And banning me from the whole offtopic subforum was a pretty shitty move also while letting others off the hook.

No adults in here to answer?

To be honest, you're absolutely right. I'm reading a good amount of posts and it's getting way too heated there.

This is indeed a privately run forum and as such is a dictatorship not a democracy.
They can and will do as they please and there is no recourse. The Moderators are not likely the ones that have deleted your posts and banned you from certain areas. That would be the Administrator and since this is his territory he can change, twist or outright ignore the rules he made all he wants.
If you want a forum where you have control then it would probably be best to start your own not try to force this (or any other) to bend to your will.

I like a good debate but I don't even go and read that one.
It scares me how some normally smart people can show just how dumb they can be on the subject.

Easy for you to say. You went in there early on just to curse me out and honestly to show outrage and are still allowed free reign with no punishment. A couple others became really assholish and are still in there in full control and getting bolder with their opinions and being more and more ****ish about it. I'm surprised the few against are still allowed in there at this point and haven't got the boot too. Everybody in there is being up their ass jerkfaces and if it was the administrator who picks and chooses who/what he allows and the mods are out of the loop it should be put up in the rules clear so we know what the real deal is. I PMed admin. directly and get nothing since I liked looking at the offtopic forum to pass time. Maybe just putting no religion and politics isn't enough and they should say which "side" you have to be on to be unchained in your comments as is evident in there. That subject is 100% injected with politics and if politics aren't allowed then that shitshow of a thread should have been shot down earlier.

This one really got me rolling since it sums up the subject perfectly and why it's getting so heated. At least you understand the concept by which the pro-vaccine are pushing. That is the whole point of why people don't want to be forced to inject BS goop into our veins. Take the s**t, inject yourself and don't worry about others not wanting untested/unapproved garbage into our bodies to learn later it was a big mistake. If that vaccine is what saves you from the Covid monster, take it, have your family/friends take it and revel in the fact that the ones who didn't are going to perish for their mistake. If that vaccine is the answer you seek then there should be no worry for anybody getting it. Or sit back and realize later that is was all bullshit that you fell for. Just as I won't start my own website for cars which contains a offtopic subforum as this does and that is a lame excuse for the shittery going on....I can't just form my own country where others and I don't have to bend to the will of scared vaccincels.

More precisely would be what is the point of having a thread complaining about being banned for a subject and then directly challenging the person that banned you by again performing the exact same behaivour that got you banned in the first place?

Behavior that got me banned?...lol Where you part of the committee that decided what happened? What do you know? The point here is if you punish one person for whatever it is that happened then everybody should have been punished. It went down exactly like it's currently going in there. If the rules only apply to one set of people/thinking, it would have been nice to know that prior so I knew where this place stands.

That shitshow is still going on in there and nothing is being done. I was singled out. What's the point of even saying there are rules when they don't even apply? The person who removed me from offtopic obviously has an agenda that I don't align with and now I know. It's clear if we cross this invisible fence that we get stung. If there was only clear line though.... Some kind of written form instructions that say something to the effect of "you must get your vaccine and if your opinion is in any way against the grain of pro-covid19 masking/vaccinating/booster shots/passporting you will be punished". You know, like a lot of mentally ill people want now with vaccine passports and colleges currently implementing policy for not allowing people without vaccines like a totalitarian gov't would do. I haven't been participating in this forum much in recent history... for no real underlying reason, just haven't. Came back and had the misfortune to stumble into this and the other linked thread.

The most disturbing and upsetting part of the whole thing is the inability of those with one set of opinions on the issue to be able to interact civilly and respectfully with those who have a differing set of opinions. The "if you don't agree with me, you are stupid, uninformed, and a total @#$#-for-brains @$$hole" attitude is disgusting, regardless of from whence it emanates.

Read this thread... read as much of the other thread as you can, objectively, without vomiting. Make a dispassionate, objective assessment as to which side expresses themselves with the most hostility and least amount of kindness.

Speaking as an American... my concerns are not whether or not masks are effective, whether or not the vaccine is a smart thing to do... my concern is just how much are we going to allow the government to control and mandate in our lives. The opinions of people in other countries about THAT are of little value to me, because those people have chosen to live in and be citizens of other countries. Our country was founded upon principals of individual freedoms to live as free as possible from restrictive government policies. If that is not attractive to some people, that is fine. There are other countries that exist and that have existed for a very long time that place less value on personal freedoms. America, at least up until recently, has been an experiment in a different type of land.

I wear a mask in public out of respect for the wishes of others, and would continue to do so without government mandates. It's the MANDATE that bothers me. You can't argue that the government should force YOUR wishes that everyone wear masks upon others because you feel it is the right thing to do, while at the same time arguing that those who question the exaggerated portrayal of the effectiveness of masks should NOT be allowed to force THEIR wishes on others. This is America. Give us data, give us guidelines, give us suggestions, give us options... and then trust that individuals will make good decisions, and that families, communities, and other micro- and small societal subsets will take care of bringing those who engage in unsafe practices along. Massive government mandates are the issue... and not agreeing with them is not a sign of being uninformed, stupid, or an @$$hole. It is the sign of simply not agreeing with everything you say. That is all. You need to respect that... whoever you are.
