You are right. The Toyota panel gap is a little larger.

They might match if they're viewed from the same angle......

angle aside look at the spacing between the botton of the Subaru badge and grille.

If we look at the patent images from above/side it does show a curve on the top of the bumper, but I'm not seeing that line under the Toyota badge as shown on the red teaser. Either way we'll know for sure in 11 days.

Interesting because it had seemed like Japan wouldn’t be getting the 2nd gen vehicles. But I guess maybe I was leaning too much toward the unsubstantiated rumor mills for that.

I think the big picture being missed is that this is primarily a Subaru announcement shared by TGR. It won't be the 86 if the normal flow of social media announcements + who shares it is followed.

I was thinking more in terms of if Subaru were still intent on releasing the 2nd gen BRZ there, even if Toyota wasn't intent on releasing its 2nd gen 86 in JP.

Wasn't there a rumor about a toyota-subaru hot hatch? could be that.

With their green cars the Toyota logo is usually blue. The teaser looks like a normal badge.

Its either a re-reveal of the twins to the local market, or something new.

Because the badge placement for both manufacturers does not match anything in their respective lineups (all theeir badging is within grilles) EXCEPT the twins (above the grille)

Apparently that is the standard moldel

They kind of already pared down the models up in Canadia like that.

The base moldel BRZ is only available with MT.

Of course the upper trims have both AT and MT options right now...

Makes me wonder who they are targetting this new model for?
The last gen was made for enthusiasts, the next one looks like they're going after mainstream buyers?

Cuz keeping the stick only with the base model is something manufacturers already do with other cars in their lineup.

Wasn’t the reveal lapping car a manual limited? It had limited wheels and tires and was a manual.

Current EyeSight is only available on auto Subaru's, so it makes sense it would be the same with the new BRZ. Premium is the low trim level (the high one being Limited on the current gen), so again makes sense to have a base manual without active safety and high trim auto with active safety.
Most auto makers progress trim levels linearly, and usually lump other "upgrades". Since in marketing perspective auto is better than manual and safety tech is good, you get this.

So no leather option with an MT? Lame
