Pops in Neutral

Does anyone know how to get pops when the car is in neutral with RomRaider?

Thanks

i dont think anything like that has ever been done before

AT-JeffT 03-18-2021 09:40 PM

The ID-10T module does not allow for it on these cars.

jcwhitney should still be able to sell you a flamethrower kit.

I don't think it's possible.

I believe the old trick of dumping a load of marbles in the muffler might work

Base B timing mods and a bit of throttle technique

I presume "pea shooter" comes from this practice... Great idea for a new James Bond gadget, shooting marbles from the back of the Aston..

I am hoping that the audio on my phone is shite.

Mine does it on the stock map under the right conditions. On high idle sometimes if I blip the throttle it pops and burbles nicely, doesn't when its warm or during the 'pulse jet/sonic boom part of a cold start. Anyone know what the ECU does in a high idle as to why it might do this?

Pours more fuel in.

No.

Actually cold start is leanish in this car, warm start too a little
And it's actually in open loop state when you first start it cold

If you measure AFR with a wideband with a stock tune, you ll see subaru afr stuck around 14.7/15.16 (it has various level undefined to me)
Meanwhile the wideband measures even slightly leaner

The pops are from stratified and retarded DI injection and negative ignition timing, combined with the timing retard induced by the throttle blipping, both pushing it and releasing it

There are also other OEM tables that limit the amount of retard while coolant is cold and while clutch is pressed (ever noticed sound changes when you press clutch to go in reverse during cold start?) and while it's complicated to see how and when those tables act, the burbles you get are mostly from retarded ignition timings

Just no!

Sorry I wasn't clear on what part of his comment I was addressing.
Yes all you said is accurate and when you add sudden fuel to those conditions you get more pops than normal.
