BRZ Next Essential Mod?
Fellow BRZ enthusiasts,
Hello my friends. Looking for some recommendations from the community. Got my BRZ about 6 months ago and have started to modify shortly after getting it. So far I’ve done: Wheels and tires (F1R F29s 18x8.5 +38 all four corners, wrapped with Federal SS595s) Mishimoto Cold Air Intake Mishimoto Baffled Oil Catch Can Tomei UEL Header Tomei Expreme Ti Type 80R Catback Exhaust OFT V2 Stage 2+ Tune With the intention of getting some track time in coming up in the next few months and those stimulus checks coming in, what would you guys recommend as a next mod that you would consider essential? Thanks! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...ea8a6629a5.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Dot 4 brake fluid.
Either go to a good 5-30 oil or add an oil cooler using good 0-20. You are going to want to swap out those federals down the road, they are not great. Would have been better to stay with 17's. |
A tune to take advantage of headers and intake?

Forgot to mention I picked up a OFT V2 and did the Stage 2+ tune. Would like to go ECUTek down the line once I start considering forced induction. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I’ve had my eyes on the thermostatic oil cooler from mishimoto. I got a package deal with the federals but I do plan on swapping out in the near future. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Deff recommend hitting CSG for ECUTek. As someone told me before, don't go crazy with mods, and get some track time on, as the more mods you add right now prior to that the more they'll mask mistakes on your track experience. After getting some track time, you can start looking at flywheels, suspension mods, etc. Get a feel for your current mods and adjust accordingly. Edit: I didn't notice that you had a CAI included. OFT is not compatible with CAIs, so I would look into that. Probably have to do some scaling and what not. In that case, better switch to ECUTek. More measurable gains. |
If you're taking it on the track, your main concern should be braking. Track time, even light track days, are hard on the braking system.
At a minimum, if you're doing a basic track day, replace the brake fluid (Valvoline Dot 3 & 4 is a cheap, good fluid to start with) and swap to a better pad. You'll probably need something that gets up to temp on the street, but can also withstand lighter track duty. An alignment and camber bolts would be beneficial for the track too to help with grip and mainly tire wear. |

I noticed that as well, OpenFlash provides a custom tune to include CAIs with some data logging. Was an alternate route I was considering before jumping into ECUTek. Although that custom tune runs about $250, looking back should’ve just gone ECUTek lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I appreciate the advice! Brakes was kind of an oversight but now it makes much more sense. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Have fun and be safe :burnrubber: |
Performance alignment
front: camber plates and/or camber bolt(s) rear: adjustable lower control arm |
You've already done plenty. Beautiful car

Front camber. You need some! Camber bolts + offset mounts (Pedders?) is one way, or camber plates. Fresh DOT4 brake fluid (name-brand parts-store stuff is fine) and some decently trackworthy pads for track.

Lower ratio diff for a double digit increase in wheel torque and fun factor.

Get rid of the catch can, which does nothing but add complexity to your application and has zero benefit. Better brake pads. Drive, and save your money for track time and tires.

essential to get rid of cuv ride height ^^
