Drivers seat clicking when driving...

My seat clicks on acceleration and deceleration and going around corners of going over bumps on the road. It’s constant and it annoys the living shut out of me. Any ideas? Anyone heard this problem before? Yes I’ve take. The seat out and inspected underneath. Nothing I can see. The bolts have been torqued to specification. So it’s not loose.. cheers.:(

Does it still do it if the seat is moved up or back a notch or two?

Maybe try giving the moving parts a shot of silicone spray or WD-40 - :iono:

Cheers Humfrz :) I’ve adjusted the seat every way possible and the noise persists. I’ll spray the moving parts with some silicone spray soon. Hopefully that helps. It’s driving me insane

I'm thinking maybe a sticky mechanism is not allowing the pins to drop all the way into the notches of the rail.

Just guessing here - ;)

Have you made sure the bolts are torqued down enough? I've had to re-drive a couple of mine.
Be wary not to over bubba them though, they won't come back out willingly.

My car is probably one of the few Subarus I've sat in that didn't have some sort of groan or creak in the seat though.

I had the same problem, though it was on at the passenger's seat - I have a RHD. It's the horizontal bar that adjusts the bottom seat position, try reseating the position and tap on the bar to ensure no freeplay.

I’m Australian. So I’m rhd too :)

But hmmm. It’s been making clicking sounds for months. Thought maybe adjusting the seat would’ve done something. I don’t know. I’ve kicked it and everything hahah. Nothing. I’ll try greasing it soon

Does it happen when you also have a passenger? On mine, it was the snap on passenger the seat belt strap. I put the seat belt inside the loop and snapped it in place; the noise has not returned.

I've had the same issue with the driver seat practically since I drove it off the lot back in 2017. Maybe I'm just too fat :iono:.

It's annoying but never bothered fixing it since it kind of just blends in with the rest of the oddity/novelty noises this car makes.

Will definitely follow along so if you find a good fix I can try it on mine :D. :thanks:

I've had my seat make a noise on turns for a long time now. It's really weird, I can hear a noise and feel an "impact" through my bum, but can't tell where it's coming from.

The seat isn't loose at all, there's nothing in the pouch behind the seat or under it, it's as if something was moving inside of it. LHD car and skinny driver.

Mine only clicks when there is vibration (eg. rough roads, vibration from engine with clutch depressed and below idle). There is a spring(s) that keeps the horizontal adjustment bar in position - to adjust the seating position the bar has to be lifted but for some reason the bar can also pushed downwards towards the floor. This allows the bar to 'chatter' when the chassis vibrates and you get that 'tinking' sound.

With a passenger on the seat the person essentially dampens it so it doesn't vibrate, or as much - will take a look to see what can be done in the coming days.

I always thought this was my snowbrush being tossed around the rear footwell, until one day I put the brush on the front passenger floor and still felt like something was clunking around hitting the rear of my drivers seat (LHD). I'll report back if I find anything with mine!

Managed to fix the rattle. Just wedge a piece of paper like in the image below. The paper will restrict the movement of the bar moving downwards, and will keep the bar held in its resting position.

Do not put too thick of a paper (approx 5mm is good enough) or the seat will not latch properly - you can tell this is happening if the seat wiggles even when the latch happens.

Hello

I can't see the paper.

But does putting a piece of paper there really fix a crunch that seems to come from the lower back?

In my case it is very noticeable when I go fast in a curve and when returning to the starting position it clacks

Waiting for a solution.

Thanks

You know, seat frames can break. doesn't happen often but it can happen.

Take it out of the car and put it on a workbench, looking at it freely will be infinitely more productive than not being able to see shit with it in the car, and it's just 4 bolts.

It's directly under the yellow wire when looking at the right side of it - the folded paper is also black (with white edge outlines) so it's a little difficult to notice.

Your issue could be different though, but no harm trying.

Today this "clac" sound in the middle of my left back.

Could it be the seat movement limiters? I have tried several times to reproduce that noise while standing by moving over it, moving it with force with my hands and nothing.
