Which exterior paint color is the most divisive?

Across the entire FT86 platform, which exterior paint color tends to be the most divisive (love-it or hate-it, nothing in between) among enthusiasts?

soundman98 12-11-2020 09:57 PM

no hate, we love everyone here regardless of colour.

DarkPira7e 12-11-2020 10:49 PM

I think lava orange and firestorm are really the ones people either really do or really don't like. Personally I can't stand blue.

they really got the colors right for the twins out the gate both standard and special models. except that they didnt have a maroon dark purp.. my only gripe. twins look good in any color

toyotareference.com/scionfrs (updated version at importarchive.com)

i'd love to see a moonslate or charlesite in person!

White black and silver, sociometrically, are worn out as old huaraches.

:slap: - that's for putting two words in the same sentence that I had to look up.

RToyo86 12-12-2020 08:36 AM

Locally we have a lot of twins, and the most loved colors tend to be the more rare ones. Colors they only made over specific year models. Ablaze Orange, Neptune blue, moonslate, hakone etc.

Asphalt is probably the most common color out there. It's a PITA color to keep looking good, just like black but the color pops if you have pristine paint.. I still get compliments on mine every now and then.

Grady 12-12-2020 09:22 AM

White is all colors, Black is no colors, Silver is boring.

Any car that is a color is good!

Impureclient 12-12-2020 10:30 AM

Boring silver gang represent!
Drove a red car for almost 15 years and felt like I had a target painted on the car. Driving silver and I'm lost in the crowd now and police don't seem to see me any more.
Also helps to now have an R3 radar detector that sees them from miles out before they even know I'm out there. :D
Kind of fond of yellow cars so I might leave silver crew for Release Series 1 yellow or if they came out with that tonic yellow color on civics but, both colors can be seen from
miles away defeating the radar detectors cloaking ability.
Since the subject came up, people who drive green or gold cars give me the willies and everybody knows you either can't trust them around little children and/or they smell like cabbage.

LancePower 12-12-2020 02:12 PM

Bitches was luvin' my Lunar Storm.

NARFALICIOUS 12-12-2020 02:21 PM

How can the color be divisive, we have more than 30 to choose from, not just 2 like some things.

gen3v8 12-12-2020 05:01 PM

Why is there 2 WRblue codes. Is there a difference?

Not quite right. If you are mixing both with the same paint system it`s still 500ml vs 500ml of the same system. More to the point would be one is a 3 layer, Like White pearls, but it`s still a pearl 2 layer.
Edit Ok o2C is 2 layer and K7X is 3. Mines K7X just looked.

You only asked if there was a difference and you didn't specify that you were asking quantitatively.

I love Asphalt Gray on my FR-S, but I’m usually drawn to either darker colors, or white. I was hoping to find a Halo White but the right one didn’t pop up. I like that white is a traditional Japanese racing color. Asphalt really does pop when it’s all clean and waxed, and I like having black badges on my car to keep a stealth look.

If I get a 2nd gen BRZ I’m really leaning towards WRB. I’ve never owned a WRB Subie. My WRX was silver.

I would agree the hot lava was a love it or hate it color.

I really dug my 2017 Solar orange Limited edition 86

But, being bright orange with a slight pink hue in a certain light, it was a love it or leave it thing at dealers, the colour was why I got such an awesome deal on it

Under fluorescent lights at the dealer it looked really pinkish, but under natural light the colour was spectacular

That was a fun little car

That only applies to light spectrum colors(RGB),not pigments(CMYK)which is the complete opposite.

I think white colored cars look atrocious and only belong on work vans and trucks.I own a Hot Lava and really like it,but if I had seen an Asphalt at the dealer when I bought mine,I would've probably bought it all things being equal.

Lunar "STORM" most moronic name on this list. Why not Lunar Ocean or Lunar Safari. Bitches would like it too.

I think he had that wrong. Isn’t black ‘all colors’ and white ‘the absence of color’? Ahhh wait never mind you corrected that by saying color pigments.
White cars can be incredibly awesome, so I gotta disagree with you on that. They always look clean, and you can see all the curves.

Pictures of this color don’t do it justice. In person it looks amazing.

As long as it has a manual. The autos look like shit.

Takumi788 12-16-2020 12:49 PM

I realize I am the minority here but I cannot believe people like that green on the special editions. All I think of when I see a dark green car is 90s Dodge Caravan. Also the burnt orange (lava) has never worked for me either.

Most of us associate green with British Racing Green, not Soccer Mom Stoplight Racing Green I think.

When I see a non-performance car with it I think "poser" rather than your.

It's a pretty standard "sports car" key color.

I can' say much though, I know folks love silver or white but the both scream rental car/fleet vehicle to me.

So you don't like the classic British Racing Green color of Aston Martin cars? The Hakone looks like a pretty close shade to that green, and it looks great, imo, but to each their own.

Nope. I dont like British racing green. Any green really.

I am the boring guy that had the choice of ANY COLOR IMAGINABLE to wrap my car in. And I chose matte grey. lol. Again, I realize I am the minority here. Just stated an opinion.

I think the acceptance of automatic cars has alot to do the current LBGQT?%#??¿● and automatic driver movements

"Woke" owners drive automatics in support

Not that anything is wrong with being LBQTG?¿¿●

If 2020 has taught us anything, it is, ummmmmm.......

In saying that, automatic transmissions have their place, in trucks, soccer mums SUV's, old muscle cars, and drag cars

An "sports car" with an automatic transmission is like a straight man copping it in the buttocks by another man

Opinions may vary, dependant on sexual preferences

I disliked the 2018 Special Edition 860 Supernova Orange. Not that the color was so bad, but the black sticker trim looked like shit and the hood and fenders had orange overspray over a white layer that made it look like a cheap respray job.

Yeah the strips are lame. The one I saw had the strips removed. He also had matte black GT86 emblems which looked nice on the orange.

TylerLieberman 12-16-2020 09:52 PM

The 860 edition Orange sucks. Especially considering the engine bay was left white. Looks cheap.

Aside from that, people seem to love or hate the red and lava orange.

Not counting the 860 Orange, I really dislike they hyper blue and yellow and Subaru used for the BRZ. The hyper blue looks like a cheap, de-saturated version of the Focus RS blue, and the shade of yellow Subaru used also looks faded and cheap compared to the one Toyota used on the TRD version.

Some people don't notice or care, but I saw it back at the LA auto show when they first unveiled the yellow and thought it was gross.

Oh, there's nothing divisive about that brz yellow. It sucks universally.

All colors of pigment-----Black
All colors of light-----White
