Sebring Track Day!

Southeast 86 Owners! I have heard so many of you wishing for the opportunity to take your 86 out on track to see what it was built to do, free of speed limits. Now is your chance to run on the oldest continuously operating race tracks in the U.S., the 3.7 mile, 12-Hour course at Sebring International Raceway.

As an Event Manager for Chin Track Days I am managing their event on Saturday October 24th & Sunday October 25th, 2020 and would love an opportunity to introduce 86 owners to the exciting hobby of High Performance Driving Events at my debut event.

What? you say...how can I do this? You need only a few things to participate; a car, a helmet and the desire to do it! See here: https://chintrackdays.com/how-to-join.aspx

But, my car isn't ready? Almost any modern production car is eligible to run, even in stock form. I started doing this in a Subaru Legacy, your car will be fine! See here: https://chintrackdays.com/tips-faqs.aspx

I've never done this before? For the entry-level/novice driver, we assign a qualified instructor for the entire event. The instructor accompanies the driver as a passenger while you drive on track. The instructor will provide the driver real-time feedback and coaching on advanced driving skills, track etiquette, and safety. Our novice driver training also includes 2 hours of indoor classroom instruction. A Master Instructor provides lecture training on car control, vehicle dynamics, road course fundamentals, and safety.
NOTE: Novice group is currently sold out.

Is it expensive? Compared to your typical autocross, $40-50 for 16 minutes (4-8 runs under 2 minutes each) is $2.50-$3.12 per minute behind the wheel, A single day at Sebring provides a driver with 3.5 Hours of available track time for $349 ($1.66 per minute behind the wheel)! Plus, Novice drivers get the benefit of personalized, in-car instruction from some of the best instructors in the industry!

These events usually sell out quickly, especially the limited number of Novice spots. Registration for this event opened on Monday, August 10th at 9:00pm EST.

Have more questions? Check the Chin Track Days website https://chintrackdays.com/, or send me an email: will@chintrackdays.com or post them here.

Chin Track Days is a fantastic group. You will learn the right way to drive at any track day. I would highly recommend.

@Opie, how far in advance are dates published? I wouldn't mind doing this at Road Atlanta but I see Novice is sold out for the year there.

Calendar is published before the new year for the coming year. Registration for the post-thanksgiving Road Atlanta event hasn’t opened yet (reg opens usually 8 weeks or so before the event). That event sells out FAST and there’s a pretty good chance we will be there.

I've been to autocross once and it was too short for me. The instructors were taken up as well.

Was interested in this but Novice group is taken, maybe next time.

Thanks for the post.

Thanks for the post.

Just as an FYI, events in the SE between Oct-Mar or so sell out fast. You live in Florida so the reason is obvious ;) Just find an event on the schedule that you want to go to (schedule is here: https://chintrackdays.com/schedule.aspx ) and set a reminder for the date that it says registration will open (which itself is updated a few weeks before it opens) but generally reg opens between 8-9 weeks before the event itself.

Post COVID-19 (whenever that happens) it'll be a lot easier to just show up and ride with people in the passenger seat again but currently that's generally not allowed :(

No problems riding shotgun at Road Atlanta, just let me know and I will add you to the guest list.

Opie 08-20-2020 06:58 PM

Dave-ROR is correct! Due to Covid-19 limitations the Novice spots usually sell out in 10-20 minutes after each event goes live. Just keep an eye on the schedule page to see when registration for each event is set to go live.

They always go live on Monday nights at 9:00pm EST

I'll also be managing the Nov 21-22, 2020 event at Homestead Motor Speedway...that event should go live around Labor Day!

But it’s homestead so no one gives a shit. ;)

Anyone going to be there this weekend? If so find my red POS in the paddock where the trailers park and get a free beer! And I promise it won't be a white claw cause people get shot for bringing that kind of shit around.

Yes, plenty of open spots for the Homestead/Miami Speedway event on November 21 & 22nd!

Having a staff meeting today to hopefully finalize the 2021 schedule!

And a HUGE thanks to all the 86's that came out to Sebring this past weekend!

It's too bad the novice/green slot openings are sold out. How many green slots are normally available and how fast do they sell out?

Depending on the event & # of instructors 12 - 20 novice spots are usually available. Do you have any on-track experience? If so, send it to me: will@chintrackdays.com Homestead is an easy track to learn, those with prior track experience may be able to participate as a Solo driver.

Unfortunately no track experience. How long did it take to fill up the green spots? So I can maybe pay attention to the next track day once it opens up.

Novice spots can fill up in 10-20 minutes after an event registration opens. Our event registrations always open on Monday nights at 9pm EST. Usually 8 weeks before the event. The 2021 schedule should be released any day now. First two events are both at Sebring, Jan 2/3 and Jan 30/31

Dave-ROR 11-17-2020 12:00 PM

BTW last night Jan 2/3 opened up for Sebring. @Opie is running that event, I'll be there with something - at least on the 2nd.

If I had a trailer I would love to visit Sebring, would probably make it a weekend affair and stay there the whole weekend. The brz is my only car so for now I can only dream. Maybe one day

We'll be back at Homestead in February, I'll likely be running that event. Registration will open 8 weeks before the event!
