No burble pact.

Can we as a community stop this burble tune absurdity?

I mean if your car is a race car or the burbles are a natural by product from a turbo I can deal with it.

But lately, it seems normal everyday cars are burbling. From a crappy little civic to a dodge dart, and almost every young dude in a plain BMW. I mean your car should not burble going 10-20mph on my block. Its a joke.

Am I getting old? Could be.

PetrolioBenzina 07-31-2020 09:46 PM

My working theory has it directly related to penis size. As with fart-cans, the smaller the louder. And yes, your age is showing. You've outgrown stupidity.

DarkPira7e 07-31-2020 09:50 PM

I dislike it. But at the same time, it's just another easy way to be under the radar, just like how it's easy to not be mistaken for a ricer if you car doesn't have a huge brushed aluminum wing with flame decals. No burble tune = more likely to be a pleasant person

it's an easy way to know who i don't want to be associated with. like harley davidsons and their 'legal' loud exhausts that rattle my windows, but i'll get pulled over for a stock muffler...

I think any mod that is about image and not performance is in the same category, especially when our cars aren't super fast. I think it's silly to try and look faster than you are. I even get a bit embarassed that our cars have a fake diffuser at the back.

What's worse is people tuning their car to shoot flames out of the exhaust for some god awful reason.

Or flame kits.

Purist 08-01-2020 04:11 AM

Yes! Add it to the list. Maybe we need a thread called '10 things I hate about your BRZ'

To be fair, is there anyone who doesn't secretly want flames shooting out of their exhaust?

If it's because I have a fierce turbo setup then flames as a byproduct is okay.

I plead guilty with my Dodge "Dart"... I also shoot flames.

The 4C (yes, I share some stuff with a Dart ;)) is nuts though and does sound like a Group-B WRC rally car.
I've heard a new Honda Civic with one of these burble tunes with what I believe to be the stock exhaust, and it was cute to hear.

Luckily I can control the pops & bangs on the 4C, so I can be as "quiet" or annoying as I want to. :bonk:

My catless UEL FR-S had a popcorn/burble OFT tune for about 36 hours -- I removed it because it actually did sound lame and affected the drivability. :iono:

Same I was in the first group to make edits to their OFT tunes to have the crackles and pops. It wasn't even worth it and got old fast and I went back to normal e85 stage 2 within a day.

I see these newbies in the tuning part of the forum asking how to do it all the time, not even realizing that when you do it on an exhaust that is not catless or doesn't have a muffler delete your slowly but surely killing the muffler packings.

Purist 08-02-2020 02:24 AM

I figured it can't be good for mufflers.

I didn't think my catless single exit could get any more obnoxious to onlookers, I found a way with the pop tune.... I also ran it for onlyl a short time, a week or 2 here or there but it was fun when I had it.

My fear is the next trend will be just speakers and you can pick your car to sound like anything. Can’t wait for that crappy civic to sound like a 488 pista.

All this fake digital crap really bothers me. Maybe it’s because I grew up on muscle cars and big V8s that sounded great.

I have no problem with tuning the Exhaust sound With actual exhaust parts.

Main reason I won’t get a Tesla is sound. I have driven a few and they are wonderful, but I need sound, but real sound.

My wife hates the new electric cars as they just creep up on you.. very dangerous I'm sure. At the other extreme we have nice cars with really stupid sounds, I'm sure generated through poor choice of aftermarket products or tuning.. there are M2s, and Lambos in my neighborhood that sound like riced up Honda Civic Si etc.

that doesn't bother me because they could never turn it up loud enough to be as annoying as pop tunes are. i can hear pop tunes 5 blocks away from the main road. i've never heard a sound system travel that far, and there's plenty of locals pushing 5,000 watts...

Good point.

Burble or rumble sounds so nice, pops, bangs, braaps and flames, now that sounds different.
My old diesel with no mods got everyone in the area upset.
We well know the "can't go fast so go loud" group. Also the ones that want to share their personal favorite music.

Ok, I lost my train of thought.

But of course I would love to shoot flames too. As long as it's a byproduct and not the goal.

Miltek sells an exhaust for the Tesla Model 3 where you can choose your exhaust note. Note sure if its interior only or exterior also

alphasaur 08-02-2020 10:59 PM

I kind of like burble and pop when they're legit and random/occasional from like a downshift?

Constant burbles/pops and tuning for them are fucking dumb.

WildCard600 08-02-2020 11:02 PM

They can't stop the burble, Mal. They can never stop the burble.

I'm certain some BMWs use the stereo to enhance engine noise.

A firefly reference can never be unnecessary... it's a scientific fact.

soundman98 08-03-2020 01:06 AM

I have some personal objections to using something i like to justify something i don't

There is an applicable gif, but it would counter the useless point I'm trying to make

I totally agree. In my opinion it’s almost the same as putting a plastic cup on the rear tire of my bicycle when I was a kid just to make some noise. [emoji23]

Guess I’m getting old too [emoji30]
