TC messing with fueling

Question for people with boosted cars. So when I floor it and the turbo spools up the wheels spin around 5k to 6k rpm. After multiple pulls the tune starts to learn that area needs to be richer and it shows in the logs. ltft and stft are turned off and im on ecutek.

Is there a way to get ecutek to stop changing fueling due to traction control throttle cuts.

ls1ac 07-26-2020 04:46 PM

After several pulls the system is getting hotter and the chance of engine damage increases. To stop the possible damage the program will pull timing and run richer.

Kodename47 07-26-2020 05:26 PM

The ECU won't just start adding fuel, if there is 0 or consistent LTFT (STFT is disabled at WOT) then it's not "learning" to add fuel. There will be a compensation that is being triggered, you just need to know what it is.

solidsnake11 07-26-2020 10:32 PM

What exactly does it show in the logs that makes you say its running richer? Is the IAT the same?
Is the AM still at 1?

dholloway543 07-27-2020 07:19 AM

I'll do 2 longs in the morning. One will be on the learned tune, then I'll flash back and log a fresh tune. I'll also try to include the tc kicking in to show the region it's in

For some reason it looks like the afr spike I was talking about is caused by the accelerator petal being lowered to 30%, even though I had it floored the whole time. I dont know what that would be caused by.

Turn off TCS.

Or, run stickier tires so that TCS doesn't need to intervene. Unless you have a ton of power.

Kodename47 07-29-2020 12:44 PM

If it's pedal % rather than throttle (I haven't looked at the log) then check the pedal connection. I know of at least one car where the pedal sensor was an issue.

solidsnake11 07-29-2020 09:10 PM

Logs say: Traction control shut you down by closing the throttle.
Iat temperature was cooler, .6 more timing and your tires were probably colder.

Easy fix turn off traction control.
or buy some federal 595rs-rr tires

it's ecutek overboost acting

i know because i did the tune
or at least, tried to

he encountered so many exhaust leaks, vacuum leaks, EBCS leaks and frame-hitting knock triggering that no matter what I did, every 2-3 releases the Duty cycle map and timing table went totally off

Also, Derek here (OP) spend most of the time in 6th gear under 3000rpm, flooring it in 6th gear
with stock 12.5:1 compression and a sbd500x turbo

i have few time because i work 18 hours everyday for the summer season, i ll try to help you again end of august if you want

dholloway543 07-30-2020 08:10 PM

Your totally right there is a boost cut there. I didn't notice. Honestly I've pushed this tune far from where it was left. I know I've messed some stuff up but it's driving good. I'd love to have you check over it to make sure everything is good but no rush man. With covid it's definitely not the best time and work is more important

OP that's a great way to throw a rod.

Ok, I just noticed right before it cut the throttle, the wheel slip went up.
The second time it went to the same boost at same rpm but didn't cut the throttle with no wheel slip.

he is forged, both pistons and rods
and I tame timings for gears

but still, difficult to manage when you have any king of leaks or knock triggerint because of frame hitting or worm engine mounts

dholloway543 07-31-2020 06:47 AM

True I do give tomm.brz mad props for the tune. It's definitely been a challenge but afr and knock are managed and It could probably handle more boost if it weren't for my ring gap holding it back. Not sure how much that matters. So im not extremely worried if the boost hits 2.1 bar for the time being.

In all honesty I expected the trans or an axle to give by now but who knows. Maybe Asin built it stronger than I thought.

I worry for oil film as well

i tried to tell Derek he shouldn t floor in sixth gear at low rpm! maybe now he will believe me more :P :P
with a throttle limiter and timing reduction per gear and low boost at high gears it s manabeable to a point, but still...

Who drives with traction control on?

I usually do on the street.

Tokay444 08-01-2020 01:09 AM

I’ve never had it on unless by accident.

What do you do on public roads that requires it to be off?

Why not just pull the ABS fuses so all your electronics are off permanently and aren't on by accident?

Definitely contemplate it.
I need it off so that the car only ever does what I tell it so. Keeps things predictable.

Why is it intervening, may be the better question. Why's it intruding on your driving?

Because that's what it does.
Listen, I've got kids that have likely been driving longer than you. If you think you're gonna start into a lecture on how I should drive, save you're breath, son.

Hmm, what's age has to do it (except if as try of personal insult)? And i'm also on line of thought, that if nannies frequently interfere with one's driving on public roads, then most probably one does something wrong, at best risking just himself, in worst case adding risks for others on the road too, and very probably breaking few traffic rules. And worst on top seems suggesting such driving to others, as with your post/question that started this.

It should give an idea of my vintage, in that, I've driven more vehicles that never came with ABS or traction control, than he's likely even seen. They build cars for the lowest common denominator, and studies show 85% of the populace doesn't poses the multitasking abilities to drive a vehicle, but we let them anyway. Hence, traction control, and ABS.

churchx 08-04-2020 10:11 AM

Yet simply by his profession of racing driver he has likely driven on limits and have wast experience regarding such, to actually know something about that. Funny, but his views are also very similar to other acquaintances of mine from motor sport, that public roads are not place to hoon/speed/drive on limits, and they all usually drive much more carefully and safe then said "generic populace".
If ABS interferes often during DD .. probably because one (comfort aside) brakes in way with high risk of getting rear ended. If TC frequently interferes, very possibly one drives over speed limit, faster then traffic flow, or even hoons/drifts. Fines aside, higher risk of own injuries/crash aside .. what others on road have done to deserve higher risks by wish of someone unrelated for more adrenaline but not wishing to do that on track? Car technical capabilities aside, car nannies limitations aside, driver multitasking capabilities aside, simply by nature of DD on public roads there are many uncontrollable variables, road design can be less forgiving/of costlier mistakes, one knows long roads less detailed then track lap lapped many times, in long drives there is less concentration, reactions are duller/slower. That all warrants higher safety margin, with which in turn makes thresholds of most nannies for people on public roads far from being such nuisance to hate.

I didn’t solicit yours, or their views either, yet here you are.
Also, Tl;dr

My question originates not from how you drive, but why it's intervening.

My car is set up such that the electronics are happy with anything I would reasonably do, whether it be going through a corner with a bit of slip angle, or doing WOT pulls. If the TCS/VSC is intervening, I'm attempting to do something stupid.

If the TCs is intervening, something is wrong with the setup and triggering the electronics to do so.

I really don't care how long you've been driving; experience has no correlation to skill. A golfer who's been at it for 50 years likely isn't even close to the skill of his local club's in-house pro. However, if you're using the wrong length club, the pro can likely identify that immediately, effortlesly.

How I drive doesn't affect you, and hasn't affected anyone else in my driving career for that matter, so it is of ZERO concern to you. Mind your business and worry about yourself.
