FR-S First Drive Event in Phoenix September 8th!

Ok after reading the post by Guff about the First Drive event I thought it would be pretty awesome to get a bunch of locals to show up in their FR-S/BRZ's and then get to flog Scion's cars around an AutoX track. We just need to find a time people can agree to show up at so we can show up in force!

Here's the link: http://frsphoenix-eorg.eventbrite.com/

The other cool thing is the free FR-S swag, I need me a lanyard!

So post up if you'd be interested so we can register for driving times.

drhorriblephd 08-09-2012 02:07 PM

I'm down for any time. Should be fun.

Pscylo 08-09-2012 02:24 PM

I'm there.

Yruyur 08-09-2012 02:29 PM

Sounds good

I registered for 1pm to 2pm.

Supermassive 08-09-2012 08:28 PM

So I guess we should all see about registering for the 1-2pm slot and if that's full the time slots before and after would work as well. Spread the word to people you know, doesnt have to be all FR-S/BRZ guys/gals but it would be pretty slick having a group of us there!

mattles 08-09-2012 08:32 PM

Im down for 11am-noon, noon-1, 1-2, whatever really

Pscylo 08-09-2012 10:47 PM

Don't plan on driving, as I want all the guys without one to get to drive, but going to show up to watch...and will be at vendor training that week so wont be working that night~

WithNolock 08-09-2012 11:19 PM

Signed up for noon-1.

EZWood 08-10-2012 10:27 AM

Count me in

Supermassive 08-10-2012 10:59 AM

I signed up for the 1-2pm slot, and hell yes I'm driving their cars while I'm there even though i have my own! So since we have some people going for the 12-1pm slot would everyone be willing to meet up at this place around 11:30am so we can actually meet and see who that guy was who passed you that one time on that street ;) I figure I'll bring some drinks since it is gonna be mid day in Phoenix so it will probably be hot.

Evil86 08-10-2012 11:36 AM

My wife and I signed for 11:00 to 12:00. Beat the heat.

Pscylo 08-10-2012 11:54 AM

Told a couple guys at work that wanted a test drive, but couldn't get one, about it...who knows, we might end up with all the colors in the parking lot.

FRST 08-16-2012 04:06 AM

Just signed up for the 1p-2p slot. See you guys there!

jhnbrynt 08-16-2012 03:31 PM

How many FRS/BRZ's are in the Phoenix area now? I bought mine about 4 weeks ago and have only seen one other (whiteout FRS) going the opposite way on 60 near apache junction.

Some friends of mine say they have seen others but I'm starting to feel alone in the northern phoenix area. Do we know "roughly" how many have been sold in the area?

Supermassive 08-17-2012 10:59 AM

I know of 3 FR-S's that are owned by Intel employees, my Whiteout, a black one owned by Pscylo, and an Aquamarine that's Tujin's, I've seen a red one, another whiteout, a silver, and one Asphalt BR-Z all around the Chandler/Gilbert area.

Supermassive 08-17-2012 11:01 AM

I put in for time off on the 8th at work so i will for sure be there, it would be great to get as many local owners out here so we can meetup and potentially get to flog some Scion owned cars around for free ;)

Yruyur 08-17-2012 11:27 AM

Off topic but you guys are local, did anyone else get the Visconti tune? He shipped my cable to the wrong person and I would like to be up and running sooner.

I was there for the VIP slot 9-10. There were only 6 people so we went round after round. Was great it wasn't busy. I work all day today otherwise I would have chilled out to meet all the peeps.

Yruyur 09-08-2012 10:16 PM

I now know I want the trd exhaust. Nice and throaty and not ricey. Trd suspension was nice but I'll stick with my pro lines for now. Damn that was very fun. I sure as hell took out a bunch of cones but they also said the track was not set up for drifting but I sure as hell did plenty of it. Woohoo was at redline way more than I would have been in mine.

Had fun, no way I would take an auto over a stick, you can NOT get it into gear as it decided I was going to fast to shift down. meh.

The TRD exhaust is nice, but I suspect it will be very expensive.clearly designed by subaru for toyota. sounded very well matched to the boxxer motor!

That said, you can probably select a great full exhaust from a subie specialty shop who can design as good sounding a solution for less. I will say that my Perrin, when I came home, I went straight to the garage and took it out for a spin- sounded very throaty too, if anything a bit louder at the top end, where the TRD was, well factory mod sounding.

The TRD springs I will pass on, very drift feeling, induced too much understeer, too stiff a rear end spring rate. Unless you wanna drift. You kinda had to muscle the car to get the nose to turn. maybe springs, maybe 18s maybe a combo of that and the inability to use the gearing clutch to transfer weight..

so I also am sure i do not like this car on 18s.

I too wiped out a bunch of cones, both times at the very end I was just too hot for tha tight right, and didnt feel the brakes bit enough, and that understeer is NOT there on the stock feel of my BRZ.

I need to order brake pads for my car today...OE when pushed feels like crap.

Btw what I did to those cars today, i would NEVER drive mine at redline like that, so it was lots of fun

Wifey drove like champ, and didnt hit any cones!

Ya GOTTA have the dual climate and I was sad for all the FRS owners who do not get adjustable HIDs

its the coolest thing on BRZ there is a dial that lets the drive choose how far from the car the beams focus it, ie far for hwy and close for like auto-x at night

FRS owners are missing out thats a neat lil feature
