Like those original wheels. You going to keep them?

TylerLieberman 06-26-2020 04:27 PM

Should probably have this moved to the build thread section of the forum

Yes, I am planning to keep them for as long as I can. I really would like to get a set of forged wheels in the future though.

Great wheel choice! Now just get some clear or smoked sidemarkers please!

It’s on my list of things to do. I’m planning to get the Helix clear side markers.

Purchased Valenti sequential taillights and the sequential fourth brake light. Installed them in like an hour but the sequential turn signals don’t seem to be working right now. I hope it’s just a relay I can just replace

The previous owner just painted the OEM tailights red. They looked okay.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...affaf4189a.jpg

The new taillights and the fourth brake light look extremely nice in my opinion, the brake light needs some additional wiring for the sequential animation to actually work, but I know nothing about wiring so I’m going to just leave that project for another day.

Also the plastic diffuser part of the bumper doesn’t sit flush with the fourth brake light, and it kinda annoys me.

@ichitaka05, this seems to be in the wrong section?

MJones_RB 06-30-2020 03:06 PM

It's nice that your badges still light up. Sadly, trying to find replacement parts is really difficult. Does the interior one on the dash still light up?

Both badges, and the dash still light up luckily. I will be extremely depressed if they ever stop working.

My friend took pictures of my car with the TC105s the other day, and they turned out pretty well.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...b9300861aa.jpg

Additionally, I purchased a Tomei Type 80 catback from FTSpeed, and I got an email back from them saying that it would arrive in late September. I’m a little upset that it’s gonna take months for it to arrive, but it’s fine I guess.

Probably should have just bought solid mounts and did some maintenance in hindsight.

Cedric 07-11-2020 12:47 PM

Did some maintenance at ~78,400 miles yesterday. Did an oil change and replaced the trans and diff fluid. I got ARP studs to replace the OEM ones and I got some Type 200 ATE Brake Fluid, but I still have do bleed my brakes.

The pinch welds are really shitty I don’t know if that’s just my car, or if it’s just like that for every FRS.

Decided to get new OEM Rotors and Winmax W3 pads. I was considering an even crazier compound, but I decided against it. Too bad the pads are in backorder for at least five more weeks.

I’ve seen people put stickers on the dash, but since have a electro-luminescent dash, I decided to not put any stickers there, but to instead put it on the glove compartment

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...c9e888766d.jpg

It’s not a real JDM OPTION sticker, but I wish it was

The pinch welds def get bent easily on our cars, and actually most cars that get set on cast iron stands. Some people prefer to roll their cars onto ramps instead of setting them on stands to do fluid changes. You can get rubber caps for your jack stands to prevent pinch weld damage, but once they are bent there's really little point.

Thanks for the advice. I’m getting some GKTech ramps once my next paycheck comes in.

No new updates with the car, but I bought A LOT of parts, but they won’t be coming for a few more months since everything is backorder because of COVID-19.

There’s not too many 86s in my area, but there is a clean E39 M5 that’s always parked next to my work place.

Decided to just buy OEM pads for now, because there’s not much life left on my current pads, and my Winmax’s haven’t even shipped yet. I also plan replace both the front, and rear rotors, as well as bleed my brake fluid.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...3299e793db.jpg

Might order Tomei unequals right now, since it might also be in backorder, and could take months for it to even ship.

I have the same Tomei knob, I love it. It feels so much better than the heavy stock knob!

My build list so far. Yellow is everything that has to do with Maintenance, and Green is everything I’ve purchased. I’m missing a few things, but this should be everything I would like on the car, minus the Seibon Rear Seat Delete.

Edit: I realized nobody can see it, but I will try to post another list that’s actually readable.

Finally wired my Valenti fourth brake lights. Somehow, I managed the wire the brake light to be an extension of my left taillight, but I managed to reverse the effects and spliced it to the correct connector.

Love the 10 series exterior color.

Cedric 07-29-2020 04:02 AM

Installed a Sparco L360 Steering Wheel with a Splash Hub Adapter. I was looking for something more JDM but I couldn’t find anything I liked so I just got a Sparco.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...49cbc28437.jpg

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...82c212265a.jpg

The Splash adapter is supposed to cancel the airbag light, but I think the resistor isn’t working so I need to buy another resistor, and I can’t figure out how to connect the horn button, but other than those two issues, installing it was pretty easy, and the build quality is pretty nice.

In regards to the steering wheel, it’s very nice, I have some visibility issues; I can’t see my RPMs from 5-7K but other than that it does it’s job, it’s just extremely different from the stock wheel, and I just have to get used to it. If I had to buy another wheel again it would probably be the suede version of this one, or an R383.

Cedric 07-29-2020 04:08 AM

I don’t plan to do anything crazy to the car until my first track day. I would like to see how the car feels somewhat stock, and work my way from there. I will probably just get an oil cooler and install my catback. and wait until then to do anything crazy, like install headers.

I lied. I installed Tomei UEL headers with help from some friends, and put a Stage 2 tune on my Open Flash Tablet.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...cb2a3ecc43.jpg

I haven’t driven it too much so I can’t form a proper opinion about them, but so far I really enjoy the tune and the headers.

The tablet is nice, the diagnostics mode seems extremely helpful, and I tried to mount it so it would be easy to see, but won’t look too out of place. I had a friend manage my OBD wire so it wouldn’t get in the way of my feet.

OFT Readings after driving somewhat hard.

I’m running somewhat rich, but it’s nothing too crazy that I have to worry about it. I don’t know what normal oil temps are for FA’s, but 199 degrees seems somewhat hot. I’m hoping an oil cooler will fix that issue.

Went to a back road to have fun. The car did well, but my oil temps got up to 231 degrees Fahrenheit. I just ordered a Jackson Racing oil cooler and that should fix the issue.
