We built our own muffler delete pipe, and I took some video of our BRZ with the pipe installed.

Oddly this is the most "boxer" like exhaust I've heard so far.

that's cool and sounds really nice... i wouldn't want to mess with heat issues, though...

Ours is of 2.25" pipe, which I think is slightly smaller than twincamRob's. Ours is stainless steel, too, although I'm not sure that's going to make a difference in how much heat it radiates. But in any case, we had no issues with heat on the bumper.

I'm hoping for a dual tip muffler delete. I know it's extra weight but I hate single exit on a dual exit bumper.

The idea was a very simple, light part, something that would be suitable for use at the track for weight savings. Turns out the sound is very pleasant, and I found it easy to live with. But we didn't have appearance in mind when we put it together, so it's form-follows-function.

Again, this setup was not for appearance, just for maximum weight reduction. If it was for appearance, I'd probably do one of these with a polished tip added on.

What if there was a matching dummy tip on the other side, that didn't go anywhere? It would be lighter than an actual Y-pipe setup...

I would dislike the fake tip more than a single personally. The thinking is the no muffler Y is still lighter than any other axle back yet has this sound (hopefully) and better visually than a single exit for daily use. I'm probably in the minority wanting such as thing as this isn't my primary autox/track car, just my daily driver I will autox at local events we don't use the WRX.

Would you be able to create one like this for the car but dual.. this is what i used to run on my evo when i first bought it but changed it out to an HKS

Wow who knew there was such a good sounding exhaust note hiding in there? For a 4 cylinder engine, that sounds nice and sporty.

I dont know anything about cars but I do want this sound... is it easy to install? Why cant you guys make something that you just put on the tip of the existing exhaust, then I dont have to go under the car. :(

It's very easy. You could do it in your driveway using ramps or jack stands.

I'm not sure if you're kidding, but really, this is a pretty easy swap.

Because adding something on the tip of the existing exhaust wouldn't do anything but add weight lol...

By the way love the sound of this, best growly note i've heard so far out of the 86. What would be the best way to get as close to this sound with dual functional pipes out the back as i'm using it as a daily and care about the looks somewhat. Also i'm thinking for the weight just something that would be lighter than stock? And price isn't an issue. Any advice?

Love the sound, want something like this but dual for estethics.

We were waiting to hear on a dual exit delete option, not the regular delete.

Maybe it would be an idea to make these so that you can attach the stock "big" jdm/edm tips?

Would look the same as stock + awesome sound.

Sounds good and I'd also be interested in a dual exit option.

I think that would be price prohibitive. The dual-outlet delete will come with tips.

I don't think the person who had the heat issue on the bumper installed an outlet beyond the bumper. Instead, I believe they just disassembled the muffler, leaving the outlet behind the bumper. At a 12.5:1 compression engine, that sucker gets hot.

The exhaust from a higher compression engine should be cooler due to the fact that increased compression increases the engine's thermal efficiency and there is more of the fuels energy turned into "go", and less turned into thermal energy.

When the prototype is ready, we will have photos. When the production ones are underway, we will have pricing. As for dates, if I don't promise anything, I cannot fail to fulfill my promise.

Nonetheless, to some degree there is a higher than usual amount of heat coming out that the bumper's material was never designed to handle the heat
