Toyota team member order wait time?

In regards to order wait time, are there any Toyota employees out there who have ordered an FRS using the TMS ordering system? Any ideas as to wait time or is the 3-4 month timeframe accurate (similar to a regular dealer order)? My TMS rep will only say that my order is in (since May!) but no other information or guarantee on delivery date. Thanks

I'm not sure if it's the same thing or not, but my dad works for Toyota and has a benefit that let's him (or immediate family members) order cars through an online system. I placed my lease order on 4/26 and so far the only update I've received was when the status changed to Placed on 5/21. I'm still not sure when it'll arrive.

smiley6570 08-08-2012 02:56 PM

Thanks for the info. It sounds like your order is in the same system as my own. The status changed to "Placed" on 5/21 as well and that was the last I've heard. I wonder if it may not be possible to see the build status since it is actually built in a Subaru factory and not a Toyota plant (they might not be tied into the order tracking system we can use) . I hope that once they are built and back in the Toyota shipping system we will see some sort of update. When we do get our cars we should link up as I'm only about 1.5 hours from Louisville. Keep the faith!

That's what I was told, no updates in the system since it's built in Japan. It'll get here when it gets here, and I might receive an email when it hits US soil. And yea, a meet up sounds cool. It seems there are very few people here in my area haha

Sorry for the double post, but I was wondering if you ever heard anything back about your order.

i work at toyota TMMK georgtown kentucky plant ....

i wanted a white out 6mt frs they said it would take up to 6 months to get the car in, so i asked about the ashault and it was on its way to the dealer so i waited about a month .... we dont get ANY special treatments on this lol but the t-drive is pretty sweet and the fact i got 2500 off car and 1300 back in cash ROCKS now time to buy some mods

mdf4uk 08-23-2012 02:32 PM

I work at the Georgetown plant also, we should meet up sometime and go on twisty road drive. I went to a dealer in Lexington around mid April and gave them a deposit, took delivery of my car on June 2. It was the 2nd one sold in Lexington. Already have done a few mods... SRT exhaust, 5axis rear spoiler, BRZ trunkliner, Red stitched e-brake boot, HID kit, Hood support struts, Clear JDM sidemarmers, Led's, Rear fog light functional, JL Audio 8" sub and alpine mono amp, Sharkfin antenna, Cobb shifter knob, more mods coming as i save more money.

Okay so my status just updated. I ordered it on 4/26, it was sent to the factory on 5/21, and I just checked today and it says "production/build week has been determined." Anyone know why they'd wait so long to put it into production?

Rossman 08-24-2012 12:28 PM

It's probably just where your order fell in the queue.

Either that or regular customer orders take priority over employee orders (this would be my policy if I ran Toyota).

wow, reading all this, im glad i have a good salesman.!!!! :party0030:

KritiK 08-24-2012 05:14 PM

well I ordered last week and they said that I will have her on January probably

Quentin 08-24-2012 11:19 PM

Even if the car is Japan built, you should still get updates. My Japan built Prius v sent updates as the status changed all the way through the process (as did my friend's IS-F). I ordered my v in April and took delivery right after July shutdown.

Sounds like you got lucky. Another engineer I work with ordered his FR-S on 4/2, order officially in on 4/15, and his still just says placed. He ordered a white 6AT. I don't know if that makes a difference since the car goes through the paint process 2x apparently (white base, pearl clear). You're still 2 months out from delivery based on my experience with the lease program. I'm just going to buy my FR-S. it makes more sense to keep my family ride on the lease so my wife never has to worry about breakdowns, maintenance, mileage, etc.

FirestormFRS 08-25-2012 01:11 PM

My advice would have been just find one at the dealer. The TMS order system takes forever because they don't cull cars from the system they put you at the back of the line in favor of customer cars.

You TMMK folks come on up to WV and we'll drive some twisties together.

I was told that the Japan built cars didn't give statuses, though I can see now that was wrong because I have a status now. And I think I know why your friend's order didn't go through yet, but I was told it's confidential and I'm not allowed to share it haha. But it does make sense!

And as far as buying one, yea I probably could've gone to my dealer numerous times to buy a car, though I never would've got the color I want (hot lava) because they haven't received one yet (Cool thing is I should have the only one in the area). Plus, buying one wouldn't be as good a deal because I don't think the discount would work out as well, and I'd have to pay insurance on it. At least with the lease, insurance and maintenance are covered.

WWEVOX 08-25-2012 07:48 PM

To shed some light on the built in Japan rumor. It seemed plausible that we wouldn't get updates since the car is built at the Subaru plant in Gunma, where normal updates to the TMS system may not have been available. But apparently, some status updates are being made. Hope they can make em fast.

Yeah, if I didn't have a family car already leased, I'd have leased the FR-S. It will be a 3rd vehicle, dad's toy, so buying it is fine for my needs. Depending how insurance rates turn out on them, though, it might swing the other way.

FirestormFRS 08-27-2012 12:01 AM

My rate is not horrible. $792 anually for 100/300 $250 deductible on all coverages.

Quentin 08-28-2012 10:08 PM

Interesting. About the same I'm paying for my 4Runner.

I had my coworker, who placed his order in April, check his status today. It jumped to R04 (being built)! He was getting pretty frustrated.

dulaman 08-28-2012 10:46 PM

I got my order in on the 4/15 cutoff, and my status is now F02, which is at the processing center getting accessories. Should be another week or so! It's been a long 4 months.

Mine jumped to R04 today as well. I know what that frustration feels like. Now I'm going to watch it very impatiently.

clevrname 08-28-2012 10:59 PM

I can't believe it is taking your orders so long!

I submitted requests for two my last allocation and I got 3! Two that I needed an a Raven AT as well....

FRSpdDmn 08-28-2012 11:11 PM

Hey guys, I work at TEMA. I had a deposit down at Dry Ridge in January. There was nothing I could do to get my car before the June 1st date, even as I knew it was sitting in Chicago 2 weeks prior. THAT was frustrating!

I have a white 6MT. When I visit TMMK, I usually park in the 4-cyl powertrain lot at Gate 6. I know a couple other engineers there that got FR-S's. I think one might have gotten a BRZ. I can't tell if they're in this thread, though.

<<MY COMMENTS IN THIS THREAD AND ANY OTHER ARE NOT REPRESENTATIVE OF THE OPINION OF TOYOTA OR SPEAKING ON THEIR BEHALF IN ANY WAY.>>

(gotta be careful about these things!)

Okay, so just got the notice today that my car has left the port in Japan and is on it's way here. To those that have used this program for other cars, or to anyone who has ordered an FR-S and watched it from the time it left port to the time it arrived at their dealer, how long should it take to get to the US and arrive at my dealer from now?

It took about a week for me but I think it's also entirely dependent on distance from the port of arrival. Mine was from NY to MA and took 5 days.

Quentin 09-14-2012 07:17 AM

My Prius was approx 3 weeks from Japan port to my dealership.

Quentin 11-10-2012 11:52 AM

My coworker, that ordered in April, the same time I ordered my Prius v, is getting his FR-S on Monday. Crazy wait time.
