Took delivery of my FR-S today! I'm tempted to sleep in tonight. :)

It was exactly two months ago today that I decided to buy a new car. I absolutely love it. Drove it 50+ miles this afternoon/evening.

My last new car was 20 years ago. I purchased it in August 1992. It was a 1993 Honda Del Sol SI. I drove it for 18+ years. I hope I can enjoy my FR-S that long!!

I've been following this forum pretty closely over the past month. Some of the little things some guys talked about regarding sounds the engine, a/c, transmission, etc. make, I can now see what you were referring too. So far, all these things strike me as being the "normal" quirks that add to this car's wonderful character. I realize it's just my first day and some didn't experience their more serious issues until later. I'm hoping I may be spared those. ;). Anyway, the car drives soooo AWESOMELY!!!

Congrats. New car interior is full of chemical fumes (new car smell) so don't sleep in it :D

The red is amazing. You think you get used to the cars looks, then one day you turn around and you fall in love with it all over again. Congrats on the car.

Nice! Firestorm was my first choice too, but decided against waiting and went with the Ultramarine as it was available. I don't regret it, but the Firestorm is still one of my favorite colors.

I'm not very ashamed to say that I slept in my WRX the first night I had it...

Of course, it was a wagon and I folded down the rear seats (and the garage was a nice temp that night...).

Since then, I have slept inside it a few times on camping/desert trips, etc.

I'm not so sure I would do that if there wasn't a good place to lay down though. :bellyroll:

Nice! Congrats!
Amazing that you kept the previous brand new car for 18+ years.
I hope I get to keep my FR-S for that long too.

CONGRATS! maybe we can have a local meet with some Torrance/Hawthorne guys. You were at the DCH meet right? I think you were the one I was talking to for a while. I'm the one with the Raven and plastidipped embalms.

Congratulations! I have a similar experience in that the last car I bought for myself was 22 years ago! The time and the car just seemed right! And yes it is a great drive!

Keep having fun. I keep making up places to go, just so I get to drive mine!!

Congrats on your new car! If you decide to sleep in it, let us know how sore you are in the morning!

clayrush 08-08-2012 05:34 PM

I slept in my Celica the first night i had it. Since the FRS is my girls’ car I did not bother. But I did nap in it during a long drive to LA.

FRSGT86 08-08-2012 05:52 PM

Congrats on you're new ride!

Like you I am not really bothered by any of the little quirks, it is part of the character of the car. I have about 3k miles on mine and every drive is still as much fun as the first one.

Enjoy!

congrats on the purchase! I have slept in mine with my wife already... Two 20inch wide thermarests and a twin sheet fit nicely. two duffle bags of stuff filled in the two places where your head will lay...

Oh yeah! I remember you. :)
I'd totally love to meet up. I have literally been driving my FR-S all day. I just got home.
