Seicane 9" Android unit.

I'm gonna go and try for this unit here and see what I get. It seems like a fairly good deal and I have seen others with Seicane units but this one seems made with the bezel included so we'll see what happens.

Finally got it and worked this week on getting it installed.

On initial install everything hooked up pretty easily. I did find that my backup camera wasn't working on my 2016 but I found out why and ended up having to move the connection from one connector to another for my BRZ. Everything else seems to be quite well and it's quite responsive to touch.

How's cold startup time?

It's pretty quick, just a few seconds at most. It starts faster than the old Starlink unit it replaced.

@Kerrija, be sure to post some photos when you have the install done.

Is there any information one where the map updates come from, or is it just using Google maps?

Also, are you planning on doing some type of wrap to make the plate match the rest of the dash?

Does it come with any harness our do you have to cut and splice?

ka-titties 05-13-2020 03:34 PM

Can you post a side shot to show how far off the dash the screen is offset?

pgranberg11 05-13-2020 03:58 PM

that's kinda cool that it replaces the dash part of it too. there's no ugly double din pieces to fill the gap. just the whole replacement. nice.

Aw shit. I just realized it replaces the actual dash finisher. That's NG for me :(

I thought the exact same thing. Plus, based on the photos, the dash piece doesn't line up with the factory piece next to it, the bottom right is waaaay off.

Oh yeah that's my bad I didn't have it seated in all the way as I was still sorting out the rear dashcam issue I had at the time.

It came all pre-wired. I did have to re-pin the reverse camera as the 2016 BRZ had the reverse camera in another connector so it was a matter of removing the pins from the connector they had and moving it to the other connector.

It's using Google maps for the updates. It also has some other map app in there as well but I can't read Chinese to navigate the menus. Yes I'll be doing a wrap on it of some sorts to make the dash all match up.

Yeah i figured I was going to have to replace the piece anyways so I thought I'd try out this instead. I have no idea what they were thinking putting that trapezoidal unit for that year. Now I gotta get some wrap to clean up the look. ;)

That's a standard size radio for Toyota.

This comes out looking pretty nice. I may have to consider it since it's not much more expensive than the map upgrade for the Scion/Pioneer model radio I have.

Here's a quick video showing the start up time.

fitment is a bit off, tho i suppose you can sand it down before applying a wrap of some sort of cover to match the rest of the dash trim.

The base goes lower than it need to by a few mm's.

JonnyObnoxious 07-12-2020 06:55 PM

Are you happy with this 2 months later? I'm considering getting it, but I really want something that supports 360* cameras.
