My 2015 "JDM BRZ STI" build
Hey guys!
This is definitely my first major post on any type of forum. So I would like to start out by introducing myself. I'm about to be 24 this month and currently reside in Lexington KY as a getaway from the constant rush that NJ was. I purchased this BRZ last year in 2018 from a dealer. It is a 2015 Limited 6 speed with now 30k miles on it and extended gold plus warranty (LOL). Anyway I will be backtracking a lot as a bunch of stuff was done to this car so I will try to keep them chronologically ordered. My main goal was to build a "JDM BRZ STI" where I would be using STI parts and replicating the JDM BRZ STI Sport to a certain point. (Seats are like 5k so that's out of the picture for now) Here is my current mods list Engine Suspension Exterior Interior Here is a picture when I first got it ! https://imgur.com/z5OOV1A.jpeg Here will be some picture of it now; https://imgur.com/xktqsjj.jpeg |
I love the frameless mirror.

Things that happen right after I got the car
All these things happened between 19k to 30k miles which is what the car is at now Issue number 1 Transmission, TOB, Clutch and Flywheel were replaced under warranty due to the car rolling in neutral a few feet forward :iono: Issue number 2 Window regulators and glass were replaced due to them being scratched from improper spacing on the roller of the regulator Issue number 3 High pressure pump chirping like usual on our cars but this one sounded awful. Brought it to a dealer and it was replaced under warranty. Issue number 4 Clunking while turning, ended up being the EPS steering bushing. whole EPS steering column was replaced. Issue number 5 Water in the trunk. Seam welds split (WTF!??!!?!?) in the trunk. Dealership resealed them and now no more water ! and I think that was it but I honestly can't remember. :burnrubber: |
So here we go, as I said I will have to back track a little as the current state of the car is different.
Here we have the STI lip kit installed along with some Konig Rennform wheels 18x8 https://imgur.com/DA1pVhm.jpeg SHOWA shocks and STI springs from Japan https://imgur.com/xpA8BKT.jpeg STI fender garnishes https://imgur.com/zrdFcJt.jpeg https://imgur.com/3XlEjsk.jpeg |
And now we move on to some power mods !!!!
My STI axle back came from Japan https://imgur.com/0nfJimz.jpeg JDL turbo install along with the ACT clutch https://imgur.com/Q4o7Ycx.jpeg https://imgur.com/nWGQNEZ.jpeg https://imgur.com/mpCCWwe.jpeg https://imgur.com/vEqXe7c.jpeg https://imgur.com/f2FX2K8.jpeg And the Valenti 5th brake light installed along with the STI gurney flap and TOM's JDM red taillights https://imgur.com/NeYdBYM.jpeg BONUS PIC Here is the BRZ next to my STI. I miss the STI a lot... ended up selling it for a huge profit and not having an actual practical car was a pain... https://imgur.com/OAYmplY.jpeg |
Nice selection of mods, the OEM+ look is always great. I imagine the turbo plus STi axleback is a good sound without being too loud... any chance you could take some videos?
I love the blob-eye STi! That would be a fun combo. |
Super clean build! Nice work!

You found the tS' recaro seats for sale with shipping? Or did you mean just a price for red trimmed Recaro sportster CS's? |

I can grab a video in a few days.Surprisingly the STI axle back is very quiet even without the turbo. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Here are some parts that I installed not too long ago;
JDM underbody aero panels. For the price and simplicity of installing I think everyone should grab a set. https://imgur.com/Y1HqfF9.jpeg STI Door Sills https://imgur.com/RYOX1IQ.jpeg STI Door handle guards https://imgur.com/vDeS9tV My favorite part, the JDM frameless mirror https://imgur.com/CNl4t15.jpeg STI Push to start https://imgur.com/dt5L3J7.jpeg STI Front badge https://imgur.com/IOxzVJH.jpeg STI Radiator cap https://imgur.com/fb4WXkg.jpeg |

Here is another small photo dump of some things that were done;
Whiteline diff craddle bushings installed. This is a extremely good mod in my opinion. I paired these with a Cusco transmission collar and the difference is NIGHT and DAY !!! Car feels so much tighter and the load transfer almost doesn't exist. Some added NVH but I actually dig the mechanical sounds being transferred to the cabin https://imgur.com/mBcv9EH.jpeg https://imgur.com/NNG1qdr.jpeg Next up I did Grimmspeed hood struts. The initial opening of them is meh. Kinda have to help to lift them up but once they are open the engine is very accessible and you don't have the silly rod in the way https://imgur.com/neEpSKj.jpeg Here are the STI V-bars and STI strut bar. I do feel a noticable difference with the V-bars and the STI strut bar also is doing "something" compared to my old Cusco bar. The car is a lot more tighter on turns and less harsh over bumps. At least that is what I feel. https://imgur.com/SDhcEfT.jpeg Can't forget those 18" STI wheels :thumbup: https://imgur.com/c8G49xp.jpeg STI battery tie down https://imgur.com/EEZ8smu Greddy Oil cooler install. For some reason it was very time consuming yet extremely easy to install. Not sure how that went wrong on my end but it is working now lol! https://imgur.com/qLV9fYo.jpeg https://imgur.com/nC2V1Q5.jpeg https://imgur.com/crB8QUJ.jpeg |

Oh my God, your poor axles :( Been strongly considering those bushings though. I've heard both good and bad things about them. Ideally I'd like to do the subframe bushings, too. |

Haha yea it wasn't pleasant having it like this either. I highly recommend these bushings. The difference was very significant. The gear changes, take offs are amazing now. Subframe bushings are going on soon I have them sitting on my desk. For the craddle bushings I recommend either removing the diff or supporting it as you will more that likely have to sawzall those off like I did. Hence the diff hanging |
