SOLVED: Window auto up down upon entry feature stopped

Hey guys no luck with the search function.

Working on my car yesterday for over an hour. Has the driver door open, while i was working i heard the window move a little bit all by itself im assuming it was closing itself.

Anywho i closed the door and the window stopped moving up and down, Now im not saying its in operable. Im saying when you approach the car and you grab the door handle the window drops down about 3/8" inch and then you get in and close the door and it seals all the way back up. This function has stopped now. The window rolls down, up, and all the way down and all the way up. The auto 1 down and and 1 up feature still work perfect. its the window entry feature that is not working. Any suggestions?

Hey, fellow Toyobaru owner! I'm always trying to learn what issues other twin owners are facing with their rides, just in case I encounter a similar issue. Your problem intrigued me, so I did a search to see if there was a possible solution outside of our forum. There's a guy on YouTube who had a problem with his passenger-side window, and in his video he explains how to reset the window system. I'm including the video link in my reply in the hope that it helps with your issue. Fingers crossed for a successful outcome! https://www.google.com/search?q=toyo...eGgge25I34Aw20

This is the auto one touch up one touch down feature. I've already watched this video and no it does not help. The other thing that I noticed is my driver side door courtesy light is out. I'm currently trying to find a fuse. Maybe it has to do with it

Sgtfluffy16 04-01-2020 08:09 PM

No luck... I could not find a fuse either. But I have discovered though. The driver side door courtesy light does not work. Neither does the dome light come on whenever the driver side door is open. Everything functions properly on the passenger side. So there's got to be something weird that happened while leaving the door open for about an hour

Dumb question but is your battery voltage low from leaving the door open? Try starting the car. The windows automatically stay in that mode if the battery voltage gets low.

Hey, OsageJJ, I'm afraid you aren't going to make it on this forum, because, you are just too polite and helpful - :sigh:

I suggest you locate the fuse box and check the appropriate fuse - ;)

i found no appropriate fuse. do you know what its called? window still works, just not the auto entry feature

Sapphireho 04-02-2020 12:24 AM

No up and down, no courtesy lights.

Sounds like the switch that says the door is open/closed is not working.

Oh well, call it what you want, but switches go bad. 6 year old switch in PA.

I think I nailed it for you.

Might just need cleaning

You might check the dome light fuse (number 49 - in the fuse box under the hood).

Somewhere on this forum, there is a wiring diagram - I think ol @Ultramaroon knows where it is, maybe he will clue you in - iffen he ain't in one of his cranky moods - :iono:

Next I would check the thingie on the drivers side door that lets the car know when it is open and closed. Maybe it's stuck? It looks like a black rubber button on the door jam.

PS - I just saw where ol smarty pants @Sapphireho beat me to it, while I was out in the garage looking for it - :iono:

Thanks for the info guys, I will check both of them out. Yes, might be 6 years old. But the car has less than 13,000 miles on it. And lives in my garage

Even more reason a switch might stick.

Or have oxidation.

A 2014 model year car with only 13,000 miles - :eyebulge:

The switch is most likely stuck because of inactivity and then when you left the door open for an hour, it just couldn't handle the stress. - :confused0068:

Are you in the military?

humfrz 04-02-2020 01:22 AM

@Sapphireho - quit butten in, in front of me - :mad0260:

Ultramaroon 04-02-2020 01:30 AM

Ho's right. It's the door switch. Look at you door indicator on the cluster I bet it works for your passenger door just fine but never senses your driver-side door opening.

you are correct.. almost. The wire fell out of the back of the door switch. plugged it back it. everything works as it should again

I think the car was punishing you for not driving it enough.
