What Brand of Oil is in your BRZ/FRS?

I read through these forums extensively today and I tried to list the Oil Brands in terms of popularity on these forums. I saw more people saying Amsoil than anything. I just want to know the BRAND and if you have time to type, why? Is there really a difference between Brands and what is it that makes one Brand worth $8-10/qt and another $4/qt.

Castrol Syntec 0W30...because its overly hyped and I caved into peer pressure.

You're not alone.

DekaMori 08-06-2012 07:33 PM

Eneos 0W20...because, race car! In all seriously, I have no idea~ Good enough for Super GT and Yamaha Factory Team (MotoGP)?? - Now, I'm just looking for excuses to justify the usage. Currently using the regular Eneos...haven't tried the GF-5 Sustina line.

Eneos oil supposedly maintains performance attributes while improving MPG, but isn't that what all the other brands claim too.

mecha_frs 08-06-2012 07:46 PM

Dropped Castrol Edge 0w-20 in at about the 750 mile mark. Might give Amsoil a try next time around. Since I change oil relatively often in my cars (5,000 miles) I don't worry about it too much.

jdmitr 08-07-2012 03:19 AM

Eneos needs to be in the poll! I will be striclty using it. We use this hands down in all of our customer's cars that use synthetic.

AutomotivePro.net 08-07-2012 08:06 AM

What do you guys think of Royal Purple HPS?

cz 08-07-2012 09:31 AM

I'm currently using Subaru oil (which is a fully synthetic 0W-20 supplied by Idemitsu, so I think it is likely to be the factory oil).

If you get the Toyota/Scion dealership oil it is supplied by Mobil.

I may use ENEOS next time...just about any Toyota produced engine that uses 0W-20 is filled with ENEOS from the factory.

slizoth 08-07-2012 02:48 PM

Honestly I'm leaning towards Penzoil at the moment just because it's literally HALF the price of everything else on here.

finch1750 08-07-2012 03:01 PM

I used mobile 1 for my early change. Gonna swap to AMSOIL at 7500. When more power gets added in a few years I will go to GC. I used it in my Subie but think it's a little thick since it's basically 0W-40 in reality.

yomny 08-08-2012 10:55 AM

Used Mobil one 0-20 for the early 150ml change since it was the only thing at my local autopart. Amsoil 75w-90 gl 4 in the tranny until the Toyota crap comes around, but I have to say the tranny doesn't even feel like a mechanical piece with this fluid, it's very smooth.

UncleFester 08-08-2012 02:13 PM

Amsoil 0w-30 & K&N oil filter.

JohnATL 08-08-2012 06:58 PM

ENEOS 0W-20

Crawford 08-08-2012 07:05 PM

Motul FTW...

Jamifra 08-09-2012 03:33 PM

Ummmm I'm 99.99% sure that the 3.5 lexus, 3.5 camry, 3.5 highlander, 1.8 corrolla all use synthetic from Mobil. I'd say 100% but they may have changed since the end of shift yesterday.

whitefrs 09-08-2012 10:57 AM

Motul eco-lite 0w-20

gmookher 09-08-2012 11:01 AM

Nothing with a VI lower than 190 heres what meets specs

Eneos Sustina this will go in at 5500 miles, after the factory fill of subie oil I get free at 3750 miles
Subaru SM (not the SN) this is my second oil change fill at 1500miles, great stuff
Toyota SM(if you can find it) great stuff
Motul eco lite

for summer track use German Castrol 0w-30(not to be confused with Titanium which is horse piss)

I also use a liquimoly product in all my cars with good feeling results.
Huge fan of AGIP, and TOTAL (elf) oils

btw the Mobil formulas for retail and OEM can differ greatly in the way they are fortified, so if you want those benefits buy from the dealer if you dare use M1 on a boxer; not I ever, dont have the balls to do it

I think there is a pennzoil and a amsoil, but those brands arent allowed on my land

QFry 09-08-2012 03:01 PM

Royal Purple 0W-20 (will run for 2000 miles and then UOA and put in something else for 2000...repeat as necessary until satisfied)...sending factory oil in w/ 2000 miles for UOA as well.

Do you have a thread to follow with this info? I'm doing RP as well today in fact.

jarviz 09-08-2012 03:18 PM

Has anybody done enough oil changes to use different brands and notice a difference with the oils?

Hey bro how you liking Amsoil?
A buddy of mine let me test drive his 350z after he switched to Amsoil
and I have to say I'm pretty impressed. I'm going to be switching to Amsoil
soon to test it out for my self.

86_ZN6 09-10-2012 05:09 AM

white devil 09-10-2012 12:26 PM

Royal purple

lookchris 09-10-2012 03:30 PM

Going Amsoil soon!

loam 09-10-2012 04:09 PM

Thanks for a educated quote.... fail

Perastis 09-11-2012 10:30 AM

I just bought the 0w-20 toyota oem oil and oem filter, which says toyota on the box but subaru on the filter itself.

I went with the fully synthetic Napa 0w-20. I heard it's roughly the same (if not the same) as Valvoline, and the $3.49 per quart special was too good to pass up. So far so good.

ST185RC 09-12-2012 02:52 AM

Mobil1 synthetic 0-20. Mobil1 has never failed me, and I'll keep using it. I'd drink it if it didn't cause cancer.

Ranatsu 09-12-2012 12:55 PM

Pennzoil Ultra 5w-30 because I did days of research on Bobistheoilguy, reading oil analysis charts, and because my girlfriend has coworkers who do oil analysis for a living and they recommend that and Rotella T6 5w-40, and I feel that may be a little thick for the motor right now.. might try it later.

Skye 09-12-2012 11:18 PM

My manual says that not using MG Gear Oil special II May cause rattling noises while idling and poor fuel consumption. Has anyone been able to find this transmission oil?

tonystewart 09-13-2012 12:07 AM

Pennzoil Ultra 5w30 and Ran Up RSR

At 3500 miles I changed to Eneos Sustina 0w20
